Chapter 16: Chapter 16

"You get me so well." Jake said with a chuckle, and I chuckled too.

Jane glanced at my plate then looked back at Jake, "I didn't know that you've woken up. I'll bring you a plate."

"No need, I will eat with Max. My right shoulder hurts so bad, and I can't eat with my left hand." Jake replied as he turned his gaze to me.

"Don't worry, Jake. I will feed you the food since you got hurt because of me." I said as I felt concerned for him. Jane walked to Drake and sat on his lap. He wrapped his arms around her as they talked in low tones. The other guys started talking amongst themselves too. Jake's voice pulled my attention back to him.

"Don't blame yourself, Max. He was going to come for me after he was done with you anyway." He reassured me with a small smile.

"Thanks for the comfort, but I never want you to risk your life for me again."

He shook his head, "I can't promise that because I will always save you whenever you are in danger."

"I can save myself." I retorted as I wanted to convince him to stop risking his life for me. Mike was right, I couldn't take it again if Jake got hurt.

Jake chuckled, "Alright, feisty. I know that you can take care of yourself, but I will help you when you need help."

I sighed, "I guess I can't convince you otherwise."

"Not when it has to do with your safety." He replied as I picked up my fork and picked up some noodles. I leaned forward as I brought it closer to his lips. He opened his mouth as he stared at me and I pushed the fork in.

I took out the empty fork from his mouth and he chewed as I picked up some noodles to place in my mouth this time. As he swallowed the food in his mouth, he said, "So what are we going to do if we turn into werewolves?"

I looked back at him as I shook my head, "I don't know. But like you said, we can use that supernatural ability to defeat Kane."

"Yeah, but how can we control ourselves when we turn into animals? It will be hard to do. We should research it before the next full moon."

"I agree." I replied as I continued feeding the both of us.

A few hours later, the sun started going down and the other pack members came to the house, but went back downstairs after coming in to check on us. We were playing a game of shots as Jake and I sat on the bed while the rest sat close to us on their chairs.

We all held up five cards in our hands as we observed each other's next move. A deck of cards was on the bed beside the center where we will lay our cards. Jake peaked at my cards, very obviously, and I turned to him with a chuckle. "No peeking, Jake."

"No peeking? It's not like I was looking at something I'm not supposed to be looking at." He said as he leaned back and stared at his cards.

"Yes, you were." I deadpanned, and he chuckled as he looked back at me.

"Fine, you got me. I was cheating."

I shook my head, and laughed as Sean and Shane laughed as well. Mike shook his head, "Your points have to be deducted then."

"No way, I didn't even see anything." Jake retorted with a frown as he turned to Mike. "You just want to cut off my points because you know that I'm better than you."

"Yes, Jake is the best player here." Jane confirmed, still on Drake's lap and Drake nodded.

"Are you all saying that I'm jealous? I'm deeply hurt." Mike said as he raised a hand to his chest in an act of showing how hurt he was.

Alex slapped his arm, "That is what hurt means, and yes, we are saying that you are in fact jealous."

"But if Jake was so good, why would he peek at Max's cards?" Mike retorted.

"Cause I can? Besides, I didn't see anything, and I was only trying to help her win after checking what she has." Jake said, and Mike tsked.

"Right. Who's going to believe that?"

"Me." I said, and looked at the cards in my hands again. That was when I noticed the fur that had started sprouting on my skin slowly. My fingers started elongating and I felt my teeth extend as I felt several gasps and intakes of breath from the others in the room. I felt panicked and quickly turned to Jake to see him in the exact same condition.

"What is happening?" I asked, feeling unsure and panicked.

"We are turning into wolves because the sun went down." Jake explained, staring at the back of his own hands as more fur covered his body and my body.

"Calm down, guys. Don't panic." Jane said as she stood up from Drake's lap and approached us.

"Of course, they will panic. They're turning into freaking wolves." Shane said as Sean stood up.

"I will call the doctor."

As Sean turned around, mine and Jake's transformation became faster and we went down on all fours. Our heads elongated as well as our bodies. Our hands and legs turned into wolf legs as fur covered our bodies.

We were both on the floor, side by side as we growled at our friends, not having control over our wolves. Sean turned back around as the rest all stood up. They tried to run out of the room, but we didn't know when we tackled them and bit each and everyone of them.

After that, we both turned to each other as we growled. It was like our wolves were talking to each other, but we couldn't understand them even though we were in the same body. I knew that I had to get control of my wolf. If not, I may do something that I will regret.
