Chapter 1000: Chapter 1000
To be honest, Siheng was indeed reluctant. For him, no one was more important than A’Li. Not even the entire Nine States could come to her. Had it not been for knowing her, meeting her, and falling in love with her, he would never have bothered to fix the crack in the Demon Domain.
But if A’Li wanted him to do something, he would do it.
Now, he understood what it meant to care for the people, what it meant to be an immortal, and what it meant to uphold the path in his heart.
He finally made up his mind and nodded. "A’Li, I swear I won’t entertain this idea anymore. But the Sky-Slaying Axe is a powerful magical weapon. I’m afraid it won’t be so easy to destroy it."
Nanli responded calmly, "That’s not a problem. Ghost Fire from the Netherworld can burn it, but it will take a few hundred years."
Siheng said, "Ghost Fire, even I have to be wary of it. A thousand years would be fine."
"Exactly." Nanli nodded.
Since they had come all this way, they might as well handle this matter today.
They made their way to the center of the Netherworld, the Death God Palace. Because of Nanli’s divine tribulation, the area had generated a protective barrier. Even Qiu Hai had been unable to enter before. But now, after regaining some of the powers of the Glassy Bottle, though not fully restored, Nanli was strong enough to pass through.
As soon as she got close, the barrier shimmered and trembled slightly. The once pitch-black Death God Palace now lit up with lanterns, each one flickering with a strange, eerie light. The whole palace emitted an unsettling glow.
The light was beautiful, but it was filled with a ghostly chill, as the flames of Ghost Fire were a deep, eerie blue and purple.
Siheng frowned. He could only imagine how cold and unsettling it must have been for A’Li to live here.
But for Qiu Hai and Granny Meng, it was different. This was the Netherworld, filled with ghostly energy and Ghost Fire. All they could think of was the grandeur and majesty of the place.
Now that Nanli had realized her true identity, there were no constraints from the Heavenly Dao. They wanted to show their respect, but Nanli stopped them. "Don’t bow to me. I’m not fully restored yet."
But the Death God Palace still recognized her presence.
Qiu Hai was excited. "Then, Ancestor, you must hurry up and restore yourself! Quickly complete your ascension!"
"Yes, yes," Granny Meng said, blinking her eyes. "If you’re not here, how will I ever reincarnate in the future?"
Nanli agreed with a nod. "I will try my best."
However, the divine tribulation was extremely dangerous. It was uncertain if she would survive it. Since ancient times, many true gods had perished in their tribulations. Perhaps she, too, would be one of them. But if there was a path forward, she would continue to walk it with determination.
She passed through the barrier of the Death God Palace. With a flick of her sleeve, she allowed Siheng and the others to follow her inside.
There, in front of them, was a furnace of moderate size, burning with Ghost Fire that had lasted for millennia.
"Bring it out," Nanli instructed.
Siheng didn’t hesitate. He retrieved the Sky-Slaying Axe.
The moment he neared the furnace, a searing pain scorched his spiritual soul, causing his body to tremble involuntarily.
Beads of sweat quickly formed on his forehead. He used his spiritual power to protect himself, but even then, his soul was still being scorched. It would be difficult to heal this damage in the future.
Nanli quickly stepped forward, blocking him. "Let me do it."
She took the Sky-Slaying Axe from his hands. With her protection, Siheng felt somewhat better, but he still grabbed her hand quickly. "Are you and the babies okay? Is it affecting you?"
"I’m fine," Nanli reassured him. "The babies have my bloodline. They won’t be affected by the Ghost Fire."
Seeing her calm, Siheng relaxed.
Thanks to Nanli’s few remaining divine powers and the fact that she was carrying three divine-demon hybrid children, she was strong enough to handle the Sky-Slaying Axe.
She approached the furnace, and the Sky-Slaying Axe floated in midair. The Ghost Fire immediately flared up, surrounding the axe with fierce flames.
The axe trembled violently, trying to escape the flames. But Nanli had expected this. She called out to Siheng, and together they used their combined celestial power to cast a powerful sealing formation, locking the Sky-Slaying Axe inside, preventing it from escaping.
Finally, Nanli turned to Qiu Hai. "You will take care of it for the next hundred years. If anything happens, let me know immediately."
As she spoke, she handed him a Telestone.
Qiu Hai, puzzled, replied, "Telestone? I don’t need this. What I need is your spiritual communication spell!"
"It’s simple," Nanli said. "Did you eat today? This is my spiritual communication spell."
"What’s wrong? Is there a problem?"
"Ancestor, your spiritual communication spell in the past was always ’eat chicken today.’" Qiu Hai sighed. "Can you choose a better spell?"
Nanli awkwardly smiled. "I think it’s pretty good."
"Yes, I think it’s perfect too." Granny Meng quickly flattered her, taking the Telestone from Nanli. "Ancestor, I miss you so much. We can keep in touch!"
Nanli patted her head. "Alright."
But Granny Meng’s joy didn’t last long. Siheng, who was standing nearby, spoke up. "She needs to rest and deal with other matters. If it’s not urgent, try not to disturb her."
Granny Meng, though reluctant, understood and nodded obediently.
Before leaving the Death God Palace, Nanli took one last look at the Sky-Slaying Axe.
It was locked inside the formation, surrounded by Ghost Fire. Even if the Asura King of the past were to come, retrieving the Sky-Slaying Axe would be a difficult task.
She felt a little relieved.
However, when they returned to the previous location, Shi Miaomiao had already woken up.
The area was dimly lit, with occasional flickers of Ghost Fire. Shi Miaomiao trembled in fear.
Luckily, Nanli and the others had returned in time; otherwise, Shi Miaomiao would have fainted from fright again.
Seeing the terrified, pale-faced Shi Miaomiao, Nanli felt a little guilty. "Sorry, we kept you waiting."
Shi Miaomiao didn’t ask what kind of place this was. She quickly said, "Please, let’s leave now!"
Nanli replied, "We’re leaving now."
She asked Qiu Hai to open the gate.
In the past, Shi Miaomiao would have certainly looked twice at the handsome Qiu Hai, but now, with only one thought on her mind, she didn’t even spare a glance at him.
The Nether Sect opened, and the sunlight poured in.
Shi Miaomiao rushed out, grateful to feel the warmth of the sun.
But as soon as she stepped outside, several people surrounded her, shouting, "An assassin!!!"
Nanli quickly sensed something was wrong and rushed out without having time to bid farewell to Qiu Hai and the others.
Siheng, of course, was right behind her, protecting her. But as soon as they stepped out of the Nether Sect, he used his celestial techniques to conceal the divine mark on his forehead.
"It’s me, it’s me!" Nanli called out, recognizing the guards. "These are the Chu family’s guards."
As expected, when the guards saw Nanli and Siheng, they were momentarily startled. The Nether Sect closed behind them, vanishing from sight.
After a moment of surprise, the guards quickly grew excited. Nanli, the sixth young lady, was renowned for her extraordinary powers, so there was no cause for concern.
