Chapter 29: Chapter 29

Zara felt as if she was being followed as she entered the shop with Aly. She had picked her up from school and decided to grab a few things from the supermarket.

Weird. She thought to herself every time she turned and saw no one. She held Aly tightly and closer to her. After she had paid for the stuff she hurried into the car with Aly and drove off, heaving a sigh of relief.

That was a close one. She thought to herself. The stalker smirked and then walked to the black van that was parked along the sidewalk.

“You targeted our victim?" A voice asked through the speakers.

“Yes Sir, I have." The man said.

“Good, I'd let you know when to strike." The voice said again as the van drove off.

When they got home, Zara locked all the doors as Jay descended the staircase.

“Hey." He startled her.

“Relax Zara, it's just me...what's the matter?" He asked.

“Someone was following us," Aly said shocking her nanny.

“You felt it too?" She asked the little girl who nodded her head vigorously.

“I thought I was paranoid or something." She relaxed as Aly climbed up to her room.

“Did you girls see the person?" Jay asked Zara.

“No, no we didn't." She answered carrying the groceries to the kitchen.

“Maybe there was no one, it was just a feeling." Jay brushed it under the carpet as Zara looked at him quizzically.

“But Jay--" “But nothing Zara." He cut her off as he unlocked all the doors and walked out.

Zara shrugged and then continued with what she was doing.

“How dare she, fuck..I was in the middle of winning this case!" Marcy said throwing a glass on the wall as it shattered into tiny pieces.

“This isn't over Reign Clarkin, it ain't over at all." She said with a smirk and an evil glint in her eyes.

Zhavia sat at the coffee shop sipping her coffee and reflected on her life. All her friends had men in their lives except her and Myra who wasn't interested in dating at the moment. She wasn't getting any younger at all. Sean had moved on with his life, he was engaged to Zoë, the girl he cheated on her with.

“Can I join you?" A male husky voice said. She looked up and saw a fine gentleman starring at her and waiting for her answer.

“So can I?" He asked again.

“Oh, sure my bad. Of course, you can." She said as he sat down.

“I'm Jose Miguel and you?" He asked in a sexy Spanish accent.

“Zhavia." She replied smiling.

“It's nice to meet you, Jose Miguel." She added.

“The pleasure is mine." He responded.

“So why is a beautiful damsel like you sitting here alone?" He tried starting a conversation.

“Well, I came here to get coffee, I'm on a lunch break." She replied.

“Okay, anyway I was wondering if you'd like to go for lunch tomorrow?" He asked.

“Hmm, are you asking me out on a date?" She answered with a question.

“Well, it's just- I was just-- oh fuck it, yes I am." He added making Zhavia giggle.

“Okay then, let's meet here tomorrow, same time so you can take me out on your date." Zhavia teased handing him her contact number.

“Fine by me," Jose said.

“I got to head back to the office, it was nice meeting you Jose Miguel." She said getting up.

“Okay, Zhavia, see you tomorrow." He added as she left the shop smiling.

It wasn't a bad break after all. She thought to herself as she sat in her car and drove off to the office.

Aly, Frankie and Kayla stood at the parking lot waiting for their parents to come to pick them up.

“I'd talk to my mom, she might allow me to come over," Aly said to Frankie. Kayla was busy on her phone and hadn't recognized her surroundings until two masked men in black carried Aly and Frankie. She tried to scream for help, but another man carried her as she tries to break free from his grasp. She managed to send a message to Narcia just before her phone was destroyed.

Narcia emerged from Anya's office as her phone lit up signalling a text message from Kayla. Her heart dropped as she read the message. She let out a gut-wrenching scream before collapsing on the floor. The last thing she heard was footsteps.

Aly, Frankie and Kayla were locked up in a small room. They tried screaming for help but to no avail. Kayla climbed the bed and tried peeping out, all she saw were trees which had surrounded them.

I hope mom got my message. She silently prayed. Narcia sat on the bed hugging her knees as her boyfriend, brother and a best friend tried making calls. Isla rushed into the hospital as soon as she heard. A nurse directed her to where her friends had gathered.

Axel threw his phone across the hall in rage. His baby girl was out there somewhere and, he had no idea how to find her.

“Babe," Isla called as he walked towards her and hugged her.

“We'd find her." She whispered into his ears.

Courtney sat beside her sister, she felt numb.

Where was her baby?

Was she hungry?

Was she cold?

Was she safe?

Those were the questions running through her mind as the others panicked.

“The police are on it, you guys clearly," Myra said as she walked in with Zhavia.

“Why didn't I believe them?" Jayden said all of a sudden.

“Believe who?" His sister asked.

“Aly and Zara, they told me someone was following them a couple of days back, and I didn't believe it. I told them it was all in their head." He slid down the hospital walls.

Just when everything started to look bright for everyone, then this comes in? Narcia asked herself.
