Chapter 23: Chapter 23
Reign and Narcia had gotten closer even though her friends happy with what he did to her earlier before the incident, they were glad there was some progress.
Isla had travelled on study leave for a year before the incident so Narcia didn't remember her that much. Although she had gotten quite close to Axel.
“Hey, how's your daughter Kayla?" Narcia asked out of the blue as they were walking home from class.
“You remember my baby?” Reign asked enthused.
“Of course I do, how would I forget such a cute little girl.” She looked on smiling.
“Why's Brittana with Daya?” She asked Anya as she saw them approaching.
Anya was okay but she had broken her left hand and it was in a cast.
“I don’t know what's up with them." She clearly added uninterested.
“Just ignore if Daya says hi, we respond if not, we walk away,” Myra added.
“Hey Narcia, I hope you're better now. Sorry I couldn't come to see you at the hospital.” She said.
“It's fine, I'm getting better.” She fake smiled at her.
“I'd see you around.” She said as they walked past them leaving Brittana shocked as to how Reign completely ignored her like a plague.
Daya smirked as she looked at her companion's expression.
By the time i'm done with you Britt, you won't know what hit you. Daya thought to herself.
“I can't believe he didn't even say hi to me, I mean how could he?” Brittana continued to rant.
“Maybe, he discovered you lied to him or someone else told him you were lying about Narcia to him.” suggested as she walked off leaving her confused.
“But wait up!” Britt called after Daya who was almost at the entrance of the cafeteria.
“I can't believe that she was once my best friend in high school,” Zöe told Marcy.
“Really, was she as horrible as this or worse?” March asked digging for information for her friend.
“She was worse and had no regard for people, she always followed Reign around like a lost puppy, in the end, he chose Narcia over her. I won't be surprised if she's the one behind Narcia's and Anya's accident. She's capable of it.” Zöe finally said.
“Jay, I'm fine and I'm not stressing myself. I don't need a bodyguard, we've got the guys.” Narcia tried convincing her brother.
“I'm not taking no for an answer, in fact, he's already been hired.” He stated as a matter of fact.
“Okay, Jay. I hope he won't be following us around like a stray dog.” She asked.
“No, he won't.” He assured.
“Whatever you say Jayden,” Narcia added.
“How's Anya's arm?” He asked. “It's gradually healing.” She added looking at her sleeping friend.
“I hope Courtney's fine and not worrying too much?” She inquired knowing how much of a worrywart her sister-in-law was.
“She's fine,” Jayden added.
“She's just worried about you girls, we all are.” He admitted.
“Jay, we're fine and would be fine don't you worry. Now shoo, you have work to do.” Narcia added.
“Alright pumpkin, take care.” Jay hung up.
“Hey, how long have you been here?” She asked Axel and Zaid who were seated on the couch in their room.
“I guess you didn't hear us come since you were busy talking to Jay.” Axel teased.
“You guys don't have to check on us every minute. We'd be fine.” Narcia assured as there was a knock on her bedroom door.
“Come in.” She called just as Isla entered the room.
“Hi, babe,” Isla said as she sat on Axel's laps.
“What the heck, when did that happen?” Anya asked rubbing her eyes trying to wipe off the sleep.
“A few days back,” Axel admitted rubbing his neck.
“And you didn't think to let us know?” Narcia asked the couple.
“We planned to tell you guys,” Isla added.
“When?” Said asked finding the whole thing amusing.
“Urgh, is this an interrogation or what?” Axel groaned as his friends burst out into laughter.
“How's your arm, Anya?” Isla asked her friend.
“It's healing gradually.” She smiled.
“Anyways, we brought lunch, so you girls eat lunch and then take your drugs...no buts,” Zaid added with finality in his voice.
“Yes, dad.” Anya teased as Isla set a tray of McDonald's before them.
“Where are Myra and Zhavia, it's like we haven't hung out with those two for ages,” Narcia added.
“They've gone to the mall with Sean and Xavier, they went to get stuff for the house,” Axel added stealing a fry from Anya's plate. They had run out of groceries and some toiletries so they decided to go since it was a Saturday.
“Reign said he'd be here later in the day to check on you, I met him when I was coming here,” Isla added as Narcia blushed.
“You're blushing,” Anya added.
“No, I'm not.” She defended.
“You are too,” Anya said.
“I'm not.” Narcia insisted.
“You--” Urgh, you guys gonna go on and on with this?” Zaid asked clearly bored.
“Shut up Zaid,” Narcia said throwing a pillow to his head as she held her head in pain.
“Woah, you hit me with a pillow and now you're holding yours in pain?” He asked.
“My head hurts, ” She said relaxing on her bed.
She had remembered when Reign got missing for a whole month and later apologised and asked for her forgiveness.
“Are you okay?” Isla asked worriedly as they neared her bed.
“I'm fine.” She smiled assuring them.
Axel handed her drugs and a glass of water as she took them.
“You need rest, get some we'd come and check on you later.” He added as she pulled her blanket over her and her friends left the room including Anya.
Do I reallto remember those memories I shared with Reign?
What if they hurt?
What if they didn't end well?
I don't want to remember I'd rather prefer new ones with him.
Baby steps Narcia, baby steps. She said to herself as she dozed off into la-la land.
