Chapter 51: Chapter 51
With a smile on my face, I kiss Aiden before getting in my car and he gets in his. He is off to the office while I am off to grocery shop.
I go to the store I have been using and even though it is a short drive, it doesn't bother me. There is no damage here on the outside but I see the natural diaster relief out front of the store asking for donations. Once I park the car, I pull my checkbook out and write up a check quickly since I don't have much of any cash actually on me.
Next thing I do is walk up to the ladies with the folded up check and once she says 'Hi' we get to talking about things the hurricane done. Leaving out my own experience on what happened I listened to a few other horror stories on what happened to people. I shake her hand and she feels the check.
"Please take this and use it for those families that desperately need it." I smile and wave the other ladies.
As I walk away I hear the lady gasp and call out. "Bless you Miss!"
A cart in front of me, I start to stock up on the food that Aiden and I will be needing. For now, I think Val will join me on the catering side of food since that was something we spoke about yesterday too.
It doesn't take long before I have a good amount of food and checked out. Back at my car, I have just loaded the food into the trunk which I am thankful is empty thanks to Aiden getting everything out of the there this morning early after he woke up.
Those items other than the tables really were trashed, so new platters are a must on the list of supplies to buy. I don't want to order them so Val and I will probably make the mini trip to the large kitchen supply store not to far from here, it is just in the middle of the city.
Nothing takes me long on putting up in the kitchen once I get back home and everything out of the car. Just as I put up the last few vegetables my phone pings and see it is Val saying she is here.
I open the back door and she smiles wide.
"You didn't give much of a notice." I laugh.
"No but I can't help the excitement. I mean come on two of my best friends are getting married in less than a week. My husband has dresses at the company and we have got to get you there to try them on. That way the seamstrisses can do adjustments if need be." Val rushes out with the largest smile ever.
I smile and nod. "I just wish Naida could come today."
"She needs her rest too. Plus, I promised her a picture of every thing you try on."
That makes my heart bubble that we are all such great friends. I really do wish my sister-in-law could come, but she truly does need to rest more with my nephew making his appearance soon.
A small pang goes through me once more. Something I have been continously brushing off because there is no room for jealousy.
I get in the car with Val since she insists to drive me there and figures we will be there until they are closing anyways. Even if they aren't I can wait around and get a ride back home with Aiden.
"Geez, Val! Slow down!" I laugh and squeal as she makes her way to Scenix Clothing building.
We seem to make it to the garage and parked in record time.
"Next time I drive us." I let out a mix laugh and huff.
"You're no fun." Val laughs.
"I prefer to live until my wedding." I laugh and shake my head.
We walk in and the workers all smile and wave at us as we walk by. Val knocks on a door and I can hear Laken's 'come in' from behind it. When she opens the door and pushes me in, I see Aiden and Laken behind a desk looking at the computer.
"Those numbers I like but these may need a little more if possible." Aiden talks while pointing at the screen.
"Got it." Laken nods and types on his keyboard.
Aiden looks up and smiles, before walking over and kissing my lips. "I knew there was a reason to come Laken's office besides for work."
I laugh and kiss him once more. "Well Val was more than ready to get here."
"Yes now if we may use a few minutes of your time to grab those dresses? We can move to the other room to not bother anything with work for you two." Val sasses with a smirk.
Laken gets up from the desk and kisses Val before making way over to a door. When he opens it there is so many clothes inside that it has me surprised. He pulls out a rolling wardobe piece and then starts hanging dresses on it.
"I have to go to the office sadly. I rather stay and watch you try them on." Aiden smirks.
"Absoutely not. You can't see her in the dresses because one of them she will more than likely pick and the groom isn't to see the dress. Even though you know the design, you won't know which one she picks." Val pipes up once more, which makes me laugh.
"Follow me Cookie, there is a empty office space across the hall." Aiden laughs.
I follow him, as Val stays with Laken who is adding so many dresses to the rack I could faint if I had to try them all.
Aiden opens a door and then goes over behind the empty desk and pulls the blinds.
"How is work going? Any damage from the storm?"
"No thankfully not here or the main warehouse we have here just out of the city limits." Aiden walks over and pulls me in tight.
Val walks in a few minutes later and Aiden kisses me before he closes the door behind him.
Over the next couple of hours, Val and Naida have me trying on so many different dresses and styles. They said it was to hard with pictures, so Naida is on video chat with Val. Really it makes it even sweeter this way and like she is here with us moreso than just pictures.
Honestly, I have lost count on how many dresses I have tried on. I think just about every dress on this rack I have and it feels weird to be currently standing in my lace number while I look over the dresses once more.
There is one dress I hadn't tried on and just spotted. It would have been my very first pick if I had seen it. Something about this one is calling to me the most.
"I hadn't seen that one." Val smiles and I hear Nadia say the same.
"Guess the ghost made it appear." I joke and start to slide it on.
Val lays the phone down and zips up the back for me, I place the belt around my waist and then walk to the mirror. For the first time, Val and Naida are both silent since I know Val picked up the phone and is showing me in the dress.
Looking in the mirror, I smile wide. This has to be the dress!
It is a mid thigh design, that would look nice with panty hose. The top is a plunging V line that does show a little of my girls on top while still keeping ninty-five percent of the goodies concealed. The sleeves are off the shoulder and loose on the top of my arms.
The color is perfect because it can mean so many different things. I know I tried a couple of the white dresses on that are on the rack but they didn't feel right. This one however does.
With that thought, I turn to Val and smile wide.
"This is it and if I had seen it first I would've been saved the last how many ever hours from trying every other dress on." I laugh.
"There is literally only one other dress you hadn't tried on and it is yellow and green." Val laughs.
"That is perfect Kelsie. You look radiant and that color does bring out your features so well!" I hear Naida's voice from the phone.
I walk over and look at her on the screen and flip the camera around to where Val and I are in the picture together.
"I will be bringing this over to your house soon. It doesn't need adjustments or anything." I smile.
"I will take it to her since I have my car here and you will be riding with Aiden." Val smiles.
"Perfect and I can easily keep it from everyone. Even from Kelvin." Naida laughs.
