Chapter 70: Chapter 70

“I saw how crestfallen he was. I was kind of sad for him. My sister is not one to date or even give guys a chance. She was business- like. I ran after her and asked her what it was all about. She hissed out. She later went on to say that he had said some stupid pick up lines. As if she was going to fall for that.” She laughed at the memory. “Well, Elsa is not one so it was acceptable. Although I was saddened that he had asked her out, I still tried convince her to accept him. At least if you can't be with the one you love, let them be with the one who gives them happiness.” All Christian did was just stare and listen to her. He knew that deep down in him. She was talking about him and Elsa's relationship. “A month later, after his incessant in his different luxury cars. I was about to pull down the curtains that evening when I finally saw my sister step out of his car. He placed a kiss on her forehead and she smiled. I did not even know when I beamed also. I was strangely happy for him. For her. And for them. He waved his hands at her with a grin and she laughed. She walked into the house and squealed out in excitement. He drove off. I hurriedly put down the curtains and ran towards my sister. She ignored me at first and would not want to tell me things. But then, the excitement was too much for her to contain so she had to let it out. I grinned from ear to ear as I heard her say things about him. It even made me fall in love with him more. But then, my subconscious mind cautioned me, saying that I stood no chance with him anymore. That he has chosen the person he wanted. That no matter how much I day dreamed about him, how much I think about him, how much I loved to see him, I, Ellie Williams will never be anywhere close to his heart.” She chuckled bitterly.

“One thing is that, I was and will always be a listening ear to her stories and everything she said and says. Then slowly, unknowingly, I gave up.” She exhaled deeply as a tear fell off her eyes. She was quick to dab it off.

Christian did not know what to say. Like this girl that was sitting right before him had just told him that he was her longtime crush. He was gobsmacked. “So you once had a crush on me and watched me date your sister?” He asked. It was quite surprising. Like how was she able to handle it. That too her sister. She really took everything unlike a strong person she was. She nodded positively and said. “That happened in the past. So hard feelings. Look, I don’t know the cause of your break up. Neither do I know why she is ignoring you like that. I know, even if you are exes, you could still be talking even though it is just throwing *Hi's* at each other. But I know that the cause must have hurt her so much to behave like that. And to add, I don’t think she will ever give you a chance. I am not saying this because I once had a crush on you or I always wish you never asked her out. But because Elsa won't ignore for nothing and so that you won't keep looking like some pussy whipped somebody.” She explained out of concern. She had learned the hard way.

He shrugged and pushed everything she said to the back of his mind. Whenever he is free, he will think about it. “So, hope you are studying?”. He asked. She laughed out softly and said. “Yeah, in the café.” He giggled at her response.

Jake looked around for Ellie but could not find her. His subconscious mind then suggested that he should go to the café also. After arguing for some minutes, he gave heed and walked towards it. He took a look from the glassy door and saw her laughing with another guy whose back was turned towards him. He hesitantly pushed the door open and went to meet them. He tried regulating his breath which was questioningly heavy. He exhaled deeply as he stood above her with his gaze on the guy that sat down with her. He relaxed a bit when he saw that it was Christian.

“Ellie.” He called out with a feigned smile. Ellie who had smelled his cologne looked up with a bright, expectant smile. “Jake.” She grinned. He shove a chair out and slumped on it. He glanced at Christian who was just looking past Ellie's head.

“Hey.” He greeted in a monotone voice. Christian looked at him, acknowledging his greeting with a smile. He looked at Ellie and said. “It was nice talking to you.” Ellie beamed a little and he stood up. “See you later.” He left them to their own privacy.

“And will you kindly tell me how you came to know him?” Jake asked with his eyes glued on Christian's retreating figure. “He…” He brought his gaze to her. “He is my sister's Ex.” She answered nonchalantly. Not like it was some important piece of information. “Really?” He asked out of surprise. It never crossed his mind. “And where is yours?” He asked. Her cheeks flushed and she looked away timidly. “I don't have one.” She replied. His eyes went wide in astonishment. “Really? You never dated before?” He asked. She nodded positively.

“So how was the exam?” She was quick to change the topic. Heck, she was blushing. She never share something as personal as that. He chuckled when he saw the shade of pink on her cheek. He decided to let her be for now. He will ask her again in the future. “It was easy.” He replied.

Jayson and the rest of the boys entered the café. They saw an empty table and went to sit there. Some girls in the café choked on their food while some won't stop gawking and drooling like they were some kind of demigod. Jace and Jeremy did not miss the chance to wink and wet their lips as they savor the girls lustfully. The girls blushed and looked away.

“Can you guys do without winking at girls?” Jasper scoffed and sat down.
