Chapter 38: Chapter 38

“Huh?, so you decided to come back home now?” Elsa questioned her.

“Unbelievable.” She scoffed and looked away.

“Do you know I had to stay up late to wait for you?” Elsa asked.

“I don’t know and I am sorry.” Ellie said, tired of the complaints.

“You are sorry?, you were outside the whole night and not only that, it rained heavily last night. Ellie Williams?” Elsa protested, raising her voice.

“I said I am sorry, what else do you want to say?” Ellie asked out of frustration.

“If I don’t work, you will complain. If I finally get a job, you will complain. And if I am in search of a job, you will still complain. Tell what exactly do want me to do. Tell me?” Ellie shouted.

“You know what? we are different and because you came first doesn’t mean that you can rule over me. I got to take decisions concerning my life by myself.” She yelled angrily.

“I am so tired of you telling me what to do. You told me to get a job and that is exactly what I am trying to do and yet you are complaining. Just because you got a job doesn’t mean I will get a job easily.” Ellie huffed angrily and walked out on her.

Elsa gulped dryly and stood there transfixed with tongue tied. She didn’t know what to say. She was just trying to explain how concerned she was about her and then she yelled angrily. She also walked out on her.

Really?

Rachel came out of the kitchen and looked at her wearily.

“Am I interfering in her life?” She asked her.

“No, you are not. She is frustrated that she did not get a job. Don’t let it get to you.” Rachel said and shook her.

“But she..” Elsa said. Rachel walked towards her.

“Give her some time, she will get over it.” Rachel urged her and rubbed her arms.

“But I..”

“Elsa.” Rachel called out.

She felt affected by what Ellie said. Ellie has never shouted or even if she did, she has never lost control of her emotions but now, she just did. Even if it was little of the emotions she had buried deep in her, she still let it out. She has never felt this way because of just some words someone said to her.

Even when some girls in the streets spoke some kind of harsh works to her, she never really let it get to her.

“Is she interfering that much?” She thought as she started trailing slowly as she was trying to take it all in.

“Elsa.” Rachel called out to her but she was so engrossed on her thinking that she did not hear.

“Elsa.” She called out again.

“You have not taken your breakfast yet.” She said.

“I am not hungry.” Elsa mumbled out and exited the house.

“And where is Elsa?” Ellie raised a question. Her granny looked at her and sighed.

“Left the house already.” She muttered.

“Oh, yippy, she got the job.” Ellie said pretending to be happy. She scoffed and took a seat.

“Why are you like this, Ellie?” Rachel inquired while Ellie gazed at her, not getting what she meant.

“I mean to say your sister stayed up late to wait for you and all you do in return is insult her?” She asked.

Ellie chuckled lightly and smiled.

“You are smiling?” She asked.

“Yes, I am.” She replied.

“Granny, you are talking like she is the one who has stayed up late to wait for me. I remember doing that several times for her so tell me. What is the big deal?” She asked angrily.

“Young lady, know who you are talking to.” Rachel said slowly. Ellie sighed and said, “You know, when our parents were alive, I was never their favorite. I mean, apparently they give everything to Elsa and me, I only get some of things I asked. That job she has right now, didn’t we both apply for it? But she got accepted. Her boyfriend, Christian, yes, Christian, wasn't I in love with him first? But he asked her out instead.” She was so close to raising her voice.

“Now, do you want to know what's fun?” She asked and laughed humorlessly.

“The one I am in love with now don't love but you know if it was some other girl, I would have liked it but no, it is none other than my stupid twin sister. All she does is get things I want without even asking.” She finally said with tears brimming her grey eyes.

“I have never been anyone favorite, not my parents, not my friends and not even you!” She shouted and ran back into her room.

She pushed the door open and slammed it shut. She slid down the door and gave in to the tears. They slid down her face like a downpour. She has been bottling up these feelings since she was a kid but to console herself, she kept saying that one day, she would find someone who will love and take care of her.

She felt neglected and not wanted. She was not jealous or envious of her sister. She was angry at herself for not being like her sister. Her sister was bold and strong. She was too. She knew she was.

“For fvcking sake, we are identical twins, so what actually went wrong?” She lamented.

“Why did fate have to be so wicked to me especially?” She asked, looking up at the ceiling. She was not someone to expose or spit out her feeling like that but she could not just help it.

After staying in Crystal's house for just a night, she felt like she needed friends. Not ordinary friends. But friends that would want to be with her. Friends that won't run after her sister. Friends that would have her back every time. But.. She's got none. Zero. Julia was not going to be with her considering how close she and Elsa were. Any other friends she's got. She searched through her memory but found none. She sighed and closed her eyes for a second. She stood up slowly and went to sit on the bed.

She brought out her parents picture frame. They were both smiling. She stared at it without saying a word.

“Am I that bad of a daughter that you did not like me?”

A lone tear dropped on the frame.
