Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Knock! Knock! Knock!

“Coming.” Her quivering voice said as she came out of the kitchen. She placed the mug in her hands down and went to open the door.

“Oh, oh, my daughter.” Elsa's grandma cooed as soon as she opened the door.

“Oh my goodness, couldn’t you have waited for the rain to stop a little?” She asked as Elsa found her way in.

“Grandma, we were on our way home when it started to drizzle so it is actually nothing.” Elsa said and shrugged.

“You must be feeling cold. Go upstairs and take a warm bath. I will prepare a cup of hot tea for you.” She said as she stared at her wet body. Elsa twitched and took slow strides towards her room.

She got to her room and did not see Ellie there. She hurriedly pulled off her clothes and went into the bathroom.

Not long after did she come out and put on some pyjamas. She used the towel to dry her hair and tied it up into a bum even though it was not completely dry. She got to the sitting room and saw her granny.

“This is the hot tea I prepared for you.” Their granny said and pointed to it.

“Thank you, granny.” She said and smiled. She went to take it and went in. She drank from it and her tongue got burnt.

“Ouch, so hot.” She winced as she licked it. She dropped the cup immediately.

“Oh my goodness, don’t you know it will be hot?” Her granny asked and rushed towards her.

“I am fine.” Elsa said and took a seat, touching her tongue.

“And before I forget, where is Ellie?” She asked as she looked around.

“She is not back yet.” Their granny said and sighed. “I have been expecting her but she did not show up.”

“Where did she say she was going to?” Elsa asked as she brought the mug close to her mouth, she blew it and sipped a little tea.

“She said she was going in search of a job. That at least for this two weeks, she cannot stay idle.” Their granny added and sat down.

“Hope she is fine because it is raining quite heavily tonight.” She said and looked out through then she heaved a sigh.

“Granny, you know what?” She asked and touched her granny's right hand that was placed on the table.

“Go to bed, I will stay awake.” She said.

“But your sister is not back here and I don’t want to…” She was still talking but Elsa cut her off. “And I said I will stay awake for her to come back.”

“Okay then, if you insist.” She said and stood up. She dropped the mug.

“And I insist, you don’t need to worry about rinsing that, I will do that for you.” Elsa said, looking at the mug.

“Goodnight.” Their granny said and pecked her forehead while Elsa mumbled a ‘goodnight’ to her also.

“When your sister comes, tell her to come and meet me in the room.” She said and went into her room.

“Okay.” Elsa shouted.

“Gosh, it is so cold.” She said and rubbed her arms. She breathed into her palms and rubbed them against each other.

Ellie came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body.

“Gosh, that was a nice warm bath.” She said.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

“Who is there?” She asked.

“One of the maids, Miss.” The maid replied.

“What do you need?” She asked.

“I was told to come give you some clothes to wear.” She said.

“Oh, okay, come in then.” She ordered even though she was still conscious of herself. The maid entered and placed the clothes down on the bed then she left.

Ellie saw the clothes and smiled widely.

“Wait, these are top quality clothes.” She gasped as she took the clothes into her hands.

“Gosh, I feel like I am some kind of royalty right now.” She said as she fanned herself with her hands. She swallowed lightly and wore the dresses one by one. She went ahead to the mirror and saw her hair was wet then she looked around and saw an hairdryer hung just right beside the mirror. She took it and plugged it into the socket. She turned it on and started using it to dry her hair.

“This room has all it takes for a person to feel comfortable.” She said and started whistling.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

“How does Crystal deal with these incessant knocking?” She hissed out and turned off the hairdryer.

“Come in.” She said tiredly and packed her hair into a bun since it already dried.

“Hey.” Crystal said with a little smile.

“Oh, it's you. Thought it was one of the maids.” Ellie said as she walked over to her.

“Are you done already?” Crystal asked her.

“Yeah.” She said and looked around to see if she was really done.

“Let’s go have dinner.” Crystal said. “Okay then.” They exited her room.

As they got to the sitting room, they went ahead into the kitchen and took a seat.

A maid placed the cup of tea and that of coffee in front of them respectively.

“This taste so hot and relaxing. Thought I was gonna die from the cold.” Ellie said while Crystal only smirked.

“Don’t you think you should give your family members a call?” Crystal asked after some moments of silence.

“I don’t have a phone with me as of right now so they should not worry.” Ellie shrugged but she was really worried that her granny will stay up late to wait for her.

“What would you like to eat?” Crystal asked.

“Something light.” She replied.

“Fruits?” Crystal asked and raised an eyebrow.

“You eat fruits for dinner and you feel okay?” Ellie asked. “Unbelievable.” She muttered.

“What do you mean by that?” Crystal asked, finding what she said interesting.

“I mean to say you know, middle -class people like me can't eat fruits to bed.” She said gently.

“Oh, okay. Then I will order the maids to prepare something for you.” Crystal said and was about to call the maids when Ellie stopped her.

“The fruits will do. I guess I gotta start learning.” Ellie let out and heaved a sigh.

“If you don’t want to eat fruits, I can tell the maid to prepare..”

“I insist.” She said, smiling.

“I really need to start acting like I am wealthy.” Ellie thought as she looked around in the kitchen.

“Okay then.” Crystal said and stood up. She went over to the freezer and brought packaged plates of fruits. She took some forks and plates for the both of them and went ahead to sit with Ellie. They both served themselves and started eating.

“You know I never thought I will have someone here with me tonight apart from the maids.” Crystal said.

“Hmm.” Ellie did not know what to say. Crystal smiled.

“Thought you were talkative.” She said.

“Actually, I am not one. I just like talking you know.” Ellie cleared herself.

“Oh, okay. Eat up”
