Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Coming out of his study room after having a meeting with Rhys, Jaxon heard a loud commotion coming from the hall room.

When he reached the hall room he saw a large crowd gathered in the hall room. Because of the crowd and loud bickering, he wasn't able to understand what was happening.

"What is happening here?" He used his Alpha voice and his loud voice echoed throughout the whole pack house, making everyone pin-drop silent.

Everyone stepped aside in line making a way to their Alpha. When they stepped aside everything was cleared only Lauren's maid, Brianna, and Lauren were present in the middle. Everyone bowed their heads in respect and stayed looking down.

"You may leave." Jaxon dismissed the maids and they immediately rushed back to their work.

"May I know the reason why you are all bickering like this?" He said in a serious tone.

Lauren didn't dare to lift her eyes at him after what happened in Rhys's room. Brianna immediately rushed to Jaxon and hugged him. And then started to whimper in his arm.

"Jaxon, look Lauren has started bullying me now. How can she do this to Luna?" Brinna sniffed and sobbed hard. She pulled away and forwarded her hand to Jaxon to show her wound.

"Look, what this girl has done to my hand. It got burnt. Still, she's not admitting that she has done this to me. Even though she didn't apologize to me." Jaxon gasped looking at Brianna's burnt hand. It had become red and swollen.

"Brianna, why were you bickering with her instead of applying an ice cube to your wound? Did you notice how swollen the wound has become? How can you be so careless?" He yelled at her in a concerned tone and asked a maid to bring ice for her and when she handed him the ice cubs he himself applied that on her.

"Lauren, where were you lost? You didn't see Brianna coming? How can you be so careless, Lauren? She's pregnant. Keep that in your mind. You can't be so careless. And why the hell were you holding the coffee mug? You could have asked any maid to bring that to your room. Now see what you have done because of your clumsiness." Jaxon burst on Lauren without hearing her side. He even didn't give her any chance to defend herself.

Lauren couldn't believe that it was the same Jaxon who used to be so nice to her. And now scolding her for something she didn't do.

Lauren was watching them with a wounded heart. Her face became etched with sadness and she was holding her eyes in such a way that kept the tears inside the lids. She was hurt watching them so close to each other. She looked down at her hand where a big blister was visible which was bigger than Brianna's.

He was concerned for his namesake mate who was not pregnant at all. And he was lashing out at her when she was the one who was pregnant. He should have scolded Brianna for not being careful. When because of her clumsiness anything bad could have happened to the baby.

Lauren cleared her throat and said in a small tone, 'She's a werewolf. It will be healed with some time. You are just making a mountain out of a molehill."

Jaxon Snapped his head at her in disbelief. "She can heal so it doesn't mean you will burn her skin. It will not bother you if you burn her whole body, right?" He said in a mocking tone. Then his eyes clouded with fury.

"She can heal, but it doesn't mean that she doesn't feel pain." Jaxon roared at her in his Alpha tone which made Lauren flinch in her place. Lauren's maid also jumped in fear.

"Alpha, don't yell at her unnecessa……" Lauren's maid tried to stand for her but Jaxon stopped her, showing his palm to her.

"You don't have to talk on behalf of her. I don't want to hear anything else. I want Lauren to apologize to Brianna" Jaxon said sternly.

Lauren looked at him with a mixture of disbelief and disappointment. Her heart clenched in pain. She didn't expect such behavior from him. She not only felt hurt but also felt angry too. But not with him. She's angry with herself. If she wouldn't fall for him then today she would not bear such heartbreak today.

Lauren looked at Brianna who was giving her a smug smile. Lauren felt like burning Brianna alive right there. But she controlled herself. Lauren's maid placed her hand on her shoulder to give her some support but it was no use. She knew Lauren was innocent. She has been incriminated on purpose.

It was Brianna who bumped into her deliberately when Lauren was passing the hallway holding the coffee mug. And coffee split on both of them. Most of the coffee fell on Lauren. Her chest was also hurt because of the steaming coffee.

It was Brianna's evil plan to show Lauren that Jaxon cared for her more than her. Brianna succeeded in her motive.

Jaxon only saw how much his Mate's hand was burnt but he didn't care whether his surrogate got hurt or not. Her tears broke the boundaries and began to stream down from her eyes.

He wanted her to apologize to Brianna when she hadn't done anything wrong with her. It was becoming difficult for her to stand there and watch them so she stormed back to her room without saying a word.

"My lady." Lauren's maid tried to stop her but she didn't stop. She had noticed how Lauren's face had fallen seeing them together. It was obvious for anyone to react like this when they love the person. And she knew Lauren had feelings for Jaxon.

"Pardon Alpha, but you should have listened to her also. You only heard what Luna told you. You didn't feel the need to know what Miss Monroe wanted to say to you in her defense. You are being biassed." Betina gathered her courage to speak out. She decided to stand up for Lauren.

Jaxon looked at her knitting, his brows.

"What do you mean by that?" He asked her.

"You are getting worried for Luna that her hand got burnt. Did you notice Miss Monroe? Not only her hand but her chest also got burnt." Betina told him and said the last line loudly.

Hearing her, Jaxon's eyes went wide open in shock. Brianna's hand slipped down from his and he immediately rushed to his room.

Brianna's smug smile was wiped off, and replaced with a dreadful one. She didn't expect anything like that. She got up from the sofa and stomped her foot on the floor while whining.

"Do you think you can get away like this? You will pay for this." After threatening Brianna left the place in anger.

Betina twisted her face at her and walked off. She knew something like this would happen after what she had done. But she doesn't care. Lauren was such a sweet lady. She cannot see injustice being done to her.

Jaxon banged on the door when Lauren didn't open the door. Everyone gathered there to see what happened. He was about to break the door by kicking it but Rhys's voice stopped him.

"Alpha, I'm applying ointment on Lauren's body. It got burned badly. I can't open the door now. Please come to meet her later." Jaxon's hands turned into balls and eyes blazed with fury when he heard that. That means they were now in an intimate situation.
