Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Hunger for vengeance is an unparalleled emotion. The satisfaction of power, the starvation, and lust for respect and regality thrumming through her veins set them ablaze.

Four years she had spent apart from her father, with absolutely no connection to her sister Violet. The prime years of her life, the golden days were spend working three shifts starting from 6in the morning ending at 7 in the evening and despite all that, she attended her college

The higher the reward, the more the price one has to pay.

Her college-mates have looked at her as if she was an eerie presence, a phantom without a sense and importance of relations. Not only the girl believed in gaining as much money as she can but also pursued subjects of her interests simultaneously.

Harvard was a beautiful place to make connections and learn and she did both well. Made an alumnus of people who were profitable to her one way or another.

It was wrong to evaluate people...maybe but she did it anyway.

Astrophysics was her core subject but she trained herself to learn trade and commerce investing in various markets taking several government courses along the way. The journey might have been dull, bland, and boring looking up to her monotonous life but the outcomes were beneficial beyond one's hind eyesight.

Not only she excelled in the funding program as a prodigy but did absolutely well in the interview and was appointed as the right hand in the country's ministry of commerce and welfare.

Three months of her training and then her strength and hold would be undisputable.

Enough to crush those whom she desired.

But today was her first day in power.

Her first step towards revenge.

Her aura enchanted people like sweet dewdrops of honey on the petals of a Juliet rose...beautiful beyond comparison yet so out of reach of a pauper. Only a king was meant to touch such rare and precious jewel. Her brain was like a poisonous bloom..... Magnificent when admired, noxious with murderous intents when in action.

Her head rested against the pristine leather of the black Mercedes which was just mediocre in her collection of cars. Karma had shed her blood, sweat, and tears to have it all and all this she could sacrifice in a heartbeat if it meant bringing him down on his knees.

She would tear each and every thread of his soul apart and only then she would breathe. Destroy everything he has and even when he would beg on the streets she wouldn't be satisfied.

Alaric.

Cerulean pools of deep bottomless abyss fluttered open in an icy glare accompanied by an equally chilling smile.

"Ma'am, we are here." Hoards of young women and men rushed outside the capital building of Arkalos to greet the woman who would decide their fate and life.

With Arkalos being the strongest and presumably one of the most integral pillars for the country's money-related affairs and economy, taking into account the huge amount of dollars generated by the fighters Karma was given the task to monitor their working.

Such authority should be distributed well among many, if corruption erupted, the country would have to take a setback.

And the government wasn't so lenient.

Karma smiled as her driver opened the car door for her to step out.

She had already made provisions for the company to follow and had sent them the details in the morning itself so it wasn't surprising that the staff members already knew who she was.

Her black heels clicked against the pavement as she stepped out in a white pencil skirt matched with an equally frosty Blazer coat, simple yet enough to make a statement.

The flowers were given with kind smiles and overly cheerful faces hiding their sneers filled jealously.

A young girl nearly half of their ages wasn't meant to have it but now that it couldn't be helped she was guided to her cabin only meant for the highest authority.

*************

"What the hell is this?" Alistair roared slamming his palm on the crystal glass table making the workers hold their breath in fear. The meeting got eerily quiet as the staff sat in alarm.

"Arkalos' 50% contribution comes from all forms of fighting, so it was fine until the restrictions were placed on the extra expenses of fighters but this! Impudent!

The rest 50% is registered as private. Are they blind or have they completely lost it to put holds on our weapon supplies and that even to their own army?"

"Sir, the person who is incharge is new to this, she is young, it might be a mistake-"

"Talk to whosoever she is,Mr. Baker. I would not tolerate insolent minds to ruin the foundations of this empire.Tell her to come to my office." Alistair walked out of the room completely calm as if he was not filled with rage moments ago, followed by his secretary Caleb.

Caleb Baker stiffened, he was going from a lion's den to a hunter's lair, andeither way,he, as an innocent lamb would be butchered.

Miss Karma was equally scary if not more than his boss but if he had to choose one he would pick Alistair in a heartbeat, atleast the man would look like he would kill you before actually committing the crime whereas the beautiful maiden made of pristine porcelain would smile sweetly.

Before the man could register he had turned two hallways and was standing right infront of Karma's door.

"You may enter" a soft voice called from inside. Karma was examining the blue file in her hand whereas her secretary Aiden was observing Caleb.

"Ma'am, our president has requested you to come to his office immediately."

The girl lifted her long-lashed cerulean blues on the anxious man.

"May I know the reason why does he want me there?" There was no emotion just a simple question.

"Ma'am the documents that you have sent in the morning...they are a bit... critical. Our chief president doesn't agree with certain terms."

Karma looked emotionlessly seemingly bored out of her mind.

"With all due respect to your boss,Mr. Baker, if he doesn't like the terms or seems to disagree with them, there is a little I could do. If he has problems he can submit a written request and I would consider it.

But ordering me to come to his office that's a little too much of him to ask from me. Tell him I am least bothered with his personal interests and opinions. So if he has some problems he can come here himself."

Caleb was sure that today was going to be a battle if not a full-blown war, he swiped the sweat on his forehead and delivered Karma's message to Alistair as calmly and soothingly he could.

Alas. Little could be done when his boss left his cabin in absolute fury.

"If you permit me I would like to enter." Alistair's 6'3 frame shadowed Aiden who gulped nodding his head furiously beside the magnificent beauty leisurely reading files, her neck bowed like a swan dipping in a lake filled with starlight.

"Come in."

"Such a shame..." the deep masculine voice forced Karma's head to snap towards its direction.

Perfection

Adonis would be ugly in his presence.

If women fawned over men like Alaric, then it wasn't exaggerating that they would kill to touch this man, just a look at his sheer strength and everything would appear to be insignificant.

"How can I help you?" Karma's voice was firm, even though she didn't know this man but she already hated his guts.....or did she?

She took an intake of breath; he had become more handsome than she originally remembered him to be.

Watching him, following him maybe even stalking was what she did. Even a gulp of his earthly scent was enough to bring her peace in the days when she started researching about him.

Yes, his liquid bronze irises sparked something dead inside her, and for that, she hated him even more.

How could she forget her goal?

All of them are the same.

They would play women and when they would be content...it was over. Women were disposable for such men.

"It is a shame to have such beauty and then ruin it with so much arrogance." Alistair's voice dropped octaves, she was indeed beautiful but he didn't need some insensitive girl who had no self-consciousness.

"Exactly, I was going to say the same for you," Karma replied icily.

"A smart mouth would take you nowhere if it doesn't have a smart brain to accompany it." Aiden watched the two retort and the tension getting thicker with each passing word.

"Then I am glad I have both."

"I would have believed you, little girl but your report on Arkalos tells me otherwise. You are ruining our reputation. "

"I wasn't ruining it till now but now that you have mentioned I will clarify ... I am not going to change my decision. It would only save this empire. If you didn't pay heed to me and whatever rubbishes you think I am spluttering, this company would suffer."

"Do you think I trust you? I know what games the government plays." Alistair dry chuckled.

"Maybe you know the game....but the question is how well?" Alistair watched Karma intensely.

Confident and Honest

"If you messed this up, you will pay for it." A fair warning. Alistair wanted to see how far Karma goes.

"Maybe....maybe I will pay a heavy price but if you messed up my success game which I have planned for years, Mr. Alessandro, you have no idea how what would come for you."

"Maybe you have been an old player Karma.... although I would suggest you to never underestimate the mysterious one with destructive moves."

He was a mystery she followed for more than two years of her life and it was such a shame that she admired his destruction.
