Chapter 74: Chapter 74

Noah’s POV:

“Don’t blame yourself. Now you are safe. We are going back soon,” I kept both of my hands on her shoulder and consulted her. She tried not to cry for a second. Then, there’s a fierce look on her face.

“Fine. How did you meet the Queen? You didn’t reveal that part.” she expected for my answer. But I couldn’t say that. There’s always be a consequence when we are dealing with someone powerful. The Queen helped us get back to Slateville. But only under one condition. I can’t say that to Sydney. I lost something so important just to save Sydney.

“I... I met her a day ago. Amelia and I reached the castle the minute we got outside of the portal. It took us more time to convince her to help us. Iam glad it’s over.” I gave a simple explanation that won’t reveal what I have done.

“You are glad it’s over? What exactly happened, Noah? It seems like you are not interested in telling me the truth.” Sydney asked with irritation. I don’t want any appreciation or sympathy for what I have done. I can rather hide it.

“Nothing. Nothing happened. Now we are going to meet the Queen. Let’s not waste any time,” he said and unlocked the door.

“I don’t think the Queen will help us just like that. She took all the royal powers from Dorothy to give her life back. How can the Queen help us doing nothing? If there’s something to tell, say it.” Sydney insisted on me. I started sweating. No matter how many times she asks me Iam not ready to say it.

I was the only one who knows what have I lost for Sydney. I still can’t think about that. Amelia and I reached the Queen’s castle surrounded by many guards. Everyone is looking like some evil gods with weapons in hand. We both got stuck in the same place. We need to protect ourselves. Amelia turned into a werewolf and I used my lightning power to attack them. We both fought to our level best. We are nothing equal to those evil gods. Even so, the more we fought, the more emerged from nowhere. At one point, we stopped fighting and surrendered ourselves to them. Amelia thought we might end up in a cell next to Sydney’s cell. But we ended up meeting the Queen. She commanded them to bring us inside. She figured out there are many undead are entering hell. Sydney was the one who started it all. The Queen of Hell- Lilith stood in front of us in a glimmering black gown and crown. There’s a red throne behind her. It somehow felt creepy. She told us about two undead girls and a boy. Now I guess she’s mentioning Sydney, the human brother and sister. Amelia and I apologized. We requested her for help. Of course, she wants something in return. Something in return that gives her more power than before. That’s evil of her. I wish someone could take her place as Queen of hell instead of her. I hated the moment I met her. She made us accept whatever she’s saying. Now, I don’t feel like blaming Dorothy for the mistake she did when she was a child. The Hell Queen was the reason for Dorothy’s change. I could blame Lilith in the first place for everything.

“Iam not saying anything,” I answered and opened the door.

“Why are you...” Sydney angrily started and was interrupted by Amelia.

“No one’s going to help you. You both are far more than dead. We are the only ones getting out of hell. You can stay in hell,” she screamed at Mason and Phoebe. Mostly at his sister.

“What are you doing? I told you not to make any problems, Phoebe. I thought we had a deal.” Sydney shouted and pushed Amelia away from that girl.

“I think you are going to break the promise. My brother and Iam coming with you to meet the Queen of hell. We want our life back. I won’t let you escape without me.” she fires at Sydney. Iam glad she’s not supernatural. If that’s possible, she will kill everyone.

“Get away from her. Forgot her promise. Sydney’s not going to bring back your life. If you want it, do it by yourself.” I made myself clear to Phoebe.

Phoebe folded her arms and glared at me. “I can do it by myself. Iam coming with you all to meet the Queen. Stop me if you can. I can deal with the Queen.” she courageously said and tapped her foot, waiting for us to make our way in the right direction.

“Bear my sister. I can’t do anything to stop her,” Mason muttered to Sydney.

“I know. Show the way, Amelia. They can come with us too,” she told and walked without calling or looking at me. She’s mad at me for not admitting the truth. I still can’t remind myself. She can rather be mad at me. Why should I care? I already cared enough to lose everything. It’s better to lose her when all she’s going to do is choose my brother. It’s going to happen as soon as Jacen finds his way to this castle.

We started walking. I was behind all of them, and Sydney doesn’t seem to care about that. But I can hear their conversation from the distance.

“Amelia, I want to know what do you both did to convince the Queen? Don’t hide the answer like Noah. Please tell me, “Sydney asked without realizing it’s easy for me to hear everything.

“He doesn’t tell you. You didn’t pressure him. Did you?” Amelia questioned her.

“I did. Iam still mad. He’s acting differently. He’s refusing to tell what happened when he reached the Queen. What’s he going to lose by telling the truth?” She talked frustratedly, like how she talked to me a minute ago.

“He already lost it, Sydney. He lost his lightning power. The only special power he had as a vampire. He’s never going to get it back. How can he act normally after losing something special in him?”
