Chapter 68: Chapter 68

Noah’s POV:

“She doesn’t have feelings for you,” Amelia blurted out simply. But Iam the only one who knows how much it hurts. I don’t know what to say next. I already know this, but it hurts to hear it from her friend. I should have dropped this topic for a minute.

“Iam sorry. I don’t mean to hurt you. She liked you, but she has strong feelings for Jacen since she met him years ago,”

“What? What are you talking about?” I gave a puzzled look.

“Don’t you know that? Sydney told me on the last day before she left Slateville. She met Jacen when she was alive. She was Sapphire in those years. She came to Ravenwood for a vacation with the whole family. That’s when Jacen and Sydney met. Do you remember that vacation, Noah?”

I need to think about that. I remember that vacation. But I have no idea who Sapphire is. I can’t believe it. Jacen didn’t utter a word about this. I know we both are kids years ago. But-

“I remember. But I didn’t see Sydney on that trip,”

“Yeah. Maybe they were meant to meet each other. Even though they got separated, they found each other,” Amelia told in a dreamy voice. Now it’s painful. Iam such an unlucky guy. I don’t blame my brother. But he gets everything in his life while I got nothing, which made me feel miserable. Don’t I deserve good things in my life?

“Noah,” Amelia called to me, bringing me from my sad thoughts to the worst reality.

“Yeah,”

“Are you mad?”

“Why should I be? There’s no reason to be mad at anyone. Is it?”

“No. I mean... I thought you are upset after I told how Sydney felt about you.” she said, looking outside the window.

“Iam not. We both talked about this a month ago. I said I will be her friend. Everything’s solved. Nothing to worry about. But I have one question for you,” I asked. Getting her attention again.

“What’s that?”

“Why are you always single? You hate when you see any couple. I can see the hatred you have for love. Is there any reason or flashback?” I asked. She laughed and spoke.

“There’s no flashback to it at all. I always say ‘Gross or ew’ when I see any couple. Because I don’t believe in a concept. This love at this age is like passing clouds. It won’t last long. We are just teenagers and break-ups are so common. Why should I waste my time on it when it’s not even permanent?” she explained wisely, like she’s some adult. Somehow, she’s right.

“You are right. But you can’t stay like this forever. Can you?”

“I can’t. I will wait for my true love,” she simply said, like it’s easy to find it. It’s not as easy as it seems.

“Who will find your true love? How will you know who’s the right one for you?” I annoyed her with another question. Iam making her doubt herself.

“Okay. Now Iam going to drop this topic. I will invite you to my wedding when I found my true love in the future. Till then, no more questions,” she firmly told, crossing her arms across her chest and closing her eyes.

“Iam bored. Answer my questions until we reach the destination.” I asked her but there’s no reply from her.

“Amelia,” I shook her arms, but she’s asleep. How can she sleep right now? It’s not even a minute. ‘How am I going to spend the rest of the hour?’ I asked myself. Whatever the answer is, thinking about Sydney won’t be the answer. It brings me more pain. Instead, I closed my eyes and slept.

“Get up, bro. We are here.” Someone shook my arms. I slowly adjusted my eyes to the darkness surrounding the bus. There’s no passenger than us. I got up from my seat and walked towards the door.

“Where are we now?” I asked as I ran my hand through my messy hair. How can a vampire-like me sleep for more than an hour? Iam under so much stress.

“We are near our home, bro. Just a few more steps. Then we got a whole big story to tell our mom,” Jacen said with a little excitement and a little stress.

“Yeah. I know. So, how was your time with Kassidy gone? Is she still mad about saving her or how is she?” I asked slightly, looking back at her and Amelia, who were deeply in a conversation.

“She’s not mad at us. We talked for a while. She told me about her time when she was a student in the academy,”

“Oh, tell me about it,”

“She’s twenty years old. She graduated from the academy one years ago. She’s a witch-like Sydney. But she has many special powers which other witches don’t have. She’s a traveller. Her soul can pass through other bodies, which I came to know a few minutes ago. Then, she knows more about the portals which travel through heaven, hell and Earth.”

“Wow, she may be helpful to find Sydney and can even be useful to defeat Dorothy and Pamela...” I trialled thinking of whether Pamela’s alive or not. I wish she’s dead.

“Stop talking about me when Iam behind you,” I heard Kassidy’s voice who’s only some steps away from us.

“We are talking about how special you are. Don’t you want to hear that?” Jacen replied as I become aware that we reached my house.

“I don’t want that,” she muttered.

“Okay. Whatever. We are here,” I said and knocked on the front door. Mom must be in the home. It’s been a very long time since I saw Nina. She wouldn’t even expect her sons to visit her. But here we are, waiting for her to open the door.

“Whoever you are, go away. I don’t have time to...Oh my god, Jacen, Noah,” Nina’s angry face changed to a shocked face. She’s holding a Tv remote in one hand. Her hair is tied in a bun. I do not know why did my mom is acting angry when she opened the door. But the moment she saw us, she’s speechless.

“Hey, mom. You didn’t see this coming. Did you?” Jacen asked with a smile on his face.
