Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Sydney’s POV:

“Her name is Riley. I met her in 10th grade. I don’t know how everything happened so fast. But we can’t resist each other. She’s been with me all the time. The two people I can trust with my whole life are Riley and Phoebe.”

“What about your parents?” I interrupted him. The look on his face answered my question. He must have lost his parents. Just like me, but my life is different from his.

“Iam sorry,”

“It’s okay. I don’t want any sympathy for me. After I died, my uncle helped me to watch what’s going on Earth from a Magical crystal. That’s when I know Riley moved on. According to the news, I and Phoebe are missing. The detectives are searching, but can’t find a single clue about us. It’s good. They will never find us. What’s there to bother if I have no one to care about me on Earth?” he said emotionally. I want to make him feel better. I don’t know how to encourage Mason.

“Riley must really care about you. You can’t decide she moved on from seeing it through the crystal,”

“Maybe or maybe not. I went to find my sister on the day when I proposed to her. I never returned. We have been friends for three years and that’s it,”

“Maybe your life will get better if you go back to Earth again. You can meet Riley again. Let’s go. I will do anything to help you, Mason,” I said, and motivated him to get up. We can’t sit here forever.

“Thanks. But don’t be sympathetic to me. I hate it,” Mason said with his all-time attitude.

“Fine. I don’t care about you. Now come on. Lead the way. Don’t make me say it many times,” I said, getting out of the sad mode. I thought he will tell me everything about his high school. I can say I want to know about Earth than I want to know about him. What will Human’s study in high school? How can they live without magic? I want to experience it at least for a day. I will do it if I get back to Jacen. Jacen and I can live on Earth for a day or maybe a week.

“Where do you live on Earth?”

“New Orleans,”

“Cool. Can you book me a hotel to stay in if we are done with this mission?”

“Seriously, you want to stay on Earth?” he asked, like it’s not a good decision.

“Why? What’s wrong with that? I believe I will bring back your life. So will you do that?”

“If I get my life back, I will help you. But why do you want to live on Earth when you have all the magic and facilities in your paranormal city? Earth will be boring for you,”

“I want to experience something different. Don’t you know that Witches...” Mason slammed a hand on my mouth, stopping me from saying anything?

“Shh... Someone’s here,”

‘What? There’s no one here than us’ I thought to myself as I can’t able to utter those words right now.

“I can hear some footsteps. “Wait...is it a wheel? What the heck?” he whispered.

“You are hallucinating...” I didn’t even finish the full sentence as Iam bringing his hands down from my mouth.

“Hallucinate is my favourite Dua Lipa song. But now Iam not hallucinating,” he whispered again, looking in all the direction.

“Who is Dua Lipa? What’s wrong with you?” I shouted and heard a much louder voice behind us. He’s right. Someone’s here.

“Who are you? Why are you wandering here?” A hoarse voice says. I turned to face the person, but that’s not a person like I expected.

My eyes looked at it from up and down. He’s wrapped in a black dress and a hoodie on the head. But where’s the face? I can only see the skeleton structure instead of a human face. There are three of them with a carriage behind them. Each one is having an axe in those skeleton hands. The Carriage is tied to two ash coloured horses that looked lifeless and equal to a corpse. But behind the carriage, there’s a prison cell without anyone.

“We... we are dead,” Mason said, including me on the dead list. He brought me closer to him and whispered in my ear.

“Just lie. Don’t make them doubt, you are alive,”

“I will make sure you are really dead,” the hoarse says, bringing the axe straight on us. Before it could harm me andMason, I lifted my hand, sending a crystal blue light that threw the skeleton forcefully. I heard a crackling sound on the one skeleton which approached us.

“I told you not to do anything stupid,” Mason shouted anxiously at me. If I let those skeletons do what it’s doing, it would have killed us with the axe. Who’s stupid here? It’s not me.

“I did the right thing. It’s just a vulnerable skeleton,” I said, pointing my hands at it, but the broken bones of it joined again before my eyes.

“Is it vulnerable, Sapphire?” Mason watched me angrily.

“You both are coming with us. Let’s take them to the Queen,” another skeleton ordered us and approached the prison cell.

“Queen? Lilith? Iam coming,” I said like a fairy godmother is calling Cinderella to enter the pumpkin carriage.

“What are you...Sapphire…stop,” Mason pulled me towards him.

“Why are stopping me?” I yelled as at the right time the three skeletons pointed the Axe at us. There’s no way to go out. Mason and I raised our hands telling them we are surrendering.

“You take nothing seriously. Do you?” Mason muttered as we headed inside the cell.

“I don’t know. Do I?” I questioned him about me. The skeletons locked the cell, and the horse started moving in a few minutes.

“Clearly, no,”
