Chapter 377: Chapter 377
Sang Ning was on her way to the signal source when she suddenly staggered, one foot sinking into a patch of soft mud.
She pulled her foot out, but her nose instantly felt like it had been gently tickled with a feather. Uncontrollable itchiness caused her to erupt into a series of violent sneezes.
Damn it, could it be that Lian Qi is talking bad about her behind her back?
The time given by the production team for vying over supplies was only half an hour, and the drone hovering above them was constantly broadcasting the remaining time in real-time.
After ten minutes, Sang Ning reached the signal source location. Aside from Lian Qi and Wei Lejun, everyone else had arrived.
It was an open area in the jungle, and before Sang Ning was a massive suspended wooden walkway shaped like a standard pentagram, about one meter above the ground.
At each of the pentagram’s five intersection points, there was a uniform wooden box, square-shaped and half as tall as a person.
The five endpoints of the pentagram were the entrances to the walkway, and from any entrance point, one could choose between two paths to proceed.
The walkway entrances were just wide enough for two people to walk side by side, which meant that every intersection point’s wooden box would inevitably attract at least two contenders.
The production crew really knew how to mess with them!
Sang Ning quickly scanned the wooden boxes on the walkway. Judging by their appearance alone, it was impossible to tell the difference between them. What was certain was that the materials for building a boat and the survival backpacks were all mixed together.
The next moment, the production team’s broadcast validated her guess.
"Welcome, trainees, to the first supply contention area. As you can see, the first batch of boat-building materials and four survival backpacks are hidden inside the five wooden boxes on the walkway."
"Please note that each person only has one chance to go onto the walkway, and once you step onto it, you cannot turn back. Choose your entrance carefully—supplies are limited, and it’s first come, first served. Good luck to all the trainees."
After the production team announced the rules of the game, Tan Qianzhi surprisingly reacted quickly this time and became the first to step onto the walkway.
As soon as one foot touched the walkway, however, he convulsed like he’d been electrocuted, his entire body trembling for three seconds. The people behind him, ready to step up, hastily retreated in shock.
"We forgot to remind everyone—the walkway’s entrance is equipped with an electric current restriction. While harmless to the human body, it will give you a delightful taste of the sensation of being electrocuted."
"The restriction is currently active. Please avoid approaching until it has been lifted, at which point you may step onto the walkway."
The trainees were ready to curse.
"Damn it! Guys, who would have guessed? If it weren’t for Tan Hanhan sacrificing himself for the team, I’d almost have gotten zapped just now!"
"We’re here for training, not some survival-based variety show game. The production team is really going all out—do they not care if people live or die?"
With Tan Qianzhi electrified and twitching up front, nobody dared to act recklessly anymore. They all silently mourned for Tan Hanhan for a few seconds.
As part of the girls’ alliance, Sun Bangyu and Huang Chengzi immediately flocked to Sang Ning when they saw her and proposed an alliance to discuss strategies together.
Afraid that the male students would overhear their planning, Huang Chengzi grabbed both Sang Ning and Sun Bangyu by the hand and dragged them away from the crowd.
Seeing the girls huddle together, whispering and plotting, the male students also started thinking about forming their own alliance. Latest content publıshed on 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹✶𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲✶𝗻𝗲𝘁
After all, with the strongest combat queen Sang Ning in the girls’ group, the guys feared they wouldn’t stand a chance against them if they didn’t team up.
"Sang Ning, you’re our hope now. Just the two of us weak girls alone could never outcompete those pesky boys. You need to think of a plan to help us later, or how else are we supposed to survive in this creepy jungle?" Huang Chengzi sniffled, her voice trembling with emotion. Her big, bright eyes, however, had no actual tears to show for her dramatic delivery.
Sang Ning gave Huang Chengzi a thorough up-and-down look, the meaning behind her gaze painfully evident: With someone like you, who’s to say who can’t beat who?
From a selfish perspective, Sang Ning naturally hoped all five supplies would go to the girls’ team.
There were only four survival backpacks, conveniently matching the number of girls—one for each.
As for the sole ship-building material, for now, its contents remained unknown, but there was always a chance it could make a small boat fit for four people.
The other two girls thought so too. Even though Wei Lejun hadn’t shown up yet, the ever-thoughtful Huang Chengzi had already pre-assigned her share.
"Sang Ning, to me, all five supplies should belong to the girls’ group." Huang Chengzi grinned, her idea aligning perfectly with Sang Ning’s.
"But Lejun isn’t here yet—are the three of us so confident we can pull it off?" Sun Bangyu voiced her concern, her head hung low, as her brows furrowed tightly in anxiety.
"Don’t worry. We can do it." Sang Ning encouraged the two, then casually picked up a stick and drew a pentagram on the ground, marking five intersecting circles at each junction.
Sang Ning pointed at the ground’s pentagram diagram with the stick, explaining to the two, "I have a feeling this showdown won’t be as simple as it looks. Didn’t the production crew mention the rules earlier? Nobody can turn back once they’re on the walkway. So, after grabbing the supplies, you have to either exit from another walkway entrance or walk a full circle along the pentagram’s internal outlines."
"But leaving from the opposite side of the walkway poses a problem—you’ll run straight into someone else coming from that direction to grab supplies. They won’t let us go without a fight. The best option is for us to circle the pentagram internally, grabbing all the supplies and creating a closed-loop path before jumping off the walkway."
Sang Ning outlined the shape and gestured a path with the stick, and Huang Chengzi and Sun Bangyu caught on to her idea.
"But here’s the issue: Even if we don’t leave via the opposite end and choose to keep walking internally, we’ll still encounter others trying to grab supplies. They won’t just let us walk away with the goods." Huang Chengzi expressed doubt, noting the practical challenge in Sang Ning’s otherwise solid plan.
Sang Ning didn’t answer Huang Chengzi immediately but took another look at their surroundings. She spotted a thick wooden stick lying on the ground, about as wide as two arms, retrieved it, and handed it to Huang Chengzi: "With you, the mighty and adorable powerhouse, who’s going to stop you? One comes, you knock one away. Two come, you knock them both out."
Huang Chengzi accepted the heavy stick, her mouth twitching nervously: "Since that’s the case, wouldn’t it be easier if we just exited from the other end after grabbing supplies?"
Sang Ning raised her brows: "If you leave, you can’t turn back, so what about the remaining supplies at the other points? Are you just letting them go?"
Huang Chengzi almost exclaimed, "Well said!" Realizing that their ultimate goal was to seize all the supplies, she understood that, given the no-turning-back rule, circling the inner edges was the only way to secure everything.
