Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Little by little

She does all she can

To fasten his heart

To hers.

Devilio has no idea

What is coming at him.

- PenaciousShewa

It is a beautiful Tuesday morning and Kayola is still in bed, even at seven in the morning. She has been trying her best to avoid Devilio since the fight with Cassie. After storming out of his room that day, she has not seen him; not that it has been easy, as their rooms are right beside each other, and worse still, she cannot lock her room due to Devilio’s orders.

Her mind travels back to her conversation with Alexis last night and the advice she gave her. Alexis had told her plainly that although it doesn’t look like it yet, Devilio is beginning to warm up to her. Kayola had initially objected to this, but Alexis had made her understand that for Devilio to have gotten mad because his girl had made her suffer, there must be something there. Thus, she told Kayola that from that day, she must get closer to the Alpha while staying away from him- all at the same time. The goal is for him to miss her terribly, and this way, he will become fond of her. This is exactly what Kayola does.

She again starts to wonder why on earth he had a fight because of her. Could Alexis be right? If she is right, then this is good.

Kayola suddenly pulls herself out of her thoughts after realizing that the time is ten a.m. She should go to work at the incinerator. She has been able to clear seventy percent of it all by herself since Devilio forbade Alexis from helping. She steps out of her room and out of the mansion. As she does, the cold air slaps her face but she is alright. Her aim today is to completely clear the incinerator.

By the time it is one in the afternoon, she is exhausted and she walks slowly back to the mansion, desperate for food first, then a warm bath and a good sleep, if she can. However, she goes into the kitchen to get a cold glass of water. Right there, she sees Devilio shouting at Cassie, and the latter is petrified.

What has this woman done now?

“Here she is,” Devilio says, pointing at Kayola. “Now, say it to her face, tell her that you did not pour cold water on her,” He demands, visibly angry.

Silence.

“Did you or did you not?” Devilio asks Cassie again, looking ready to pounce on her.

Oh my, someone is in big trouble.

Seeing that the truth will definitely cost Cassie her life, Kayola covers her up, “No, Alpha; she did not actually pour the water on me, she only threatened to do so,” Kayola says. Cassie heaves a deep sigh of relief and gratitude, and Kayola does not miss it.

Devilio storms out of the kitchen, but not before warning Cassie, “The next time you try to threaten her, or hurt her in any way, I’ll make sure I burn you right in front of the whole pack. Is that understood?”

“Y…yes, Alpha” Cassie replies in fear.

After Devilio leaves, Cassie whispers several thank yous to Kayola and the latter assures her that everything will be okay. She then leaves Cassie in the kitchen and goes up the staircase. As tired as she is, she remembers Alexis’ words and she decides to go into Devilio’s room. She walks into his room and in seconds, realizes that he is not even in.

Phew! Thank goddess.

She looks around and gathers a few dirty laundry from around the room. She can’t help but notice how nice his clothes smell, even in their state. She dumps the clothes close to the door of the room and then starts to arrange and dust the surfaces. When she is done, she decides to take her leave but as she does, she is drawn to the door to her right. She wonders where it leads to. She moves closer and turns the knob but the door is locked. However, its key is right there. Just as she tries to turn the key to open the door, she feels a presence behind her, and she does not need to turn around before she knows who it is.

Devilio. Oh shit!

“May I ask you what you are doing in my room?” He asks calmly, but Kayola can sense his anger rising.

“I wanted to clean it and also grab your dirty laundry,” Kayola replies.

“Okay, that makes sense; but what does not add up is why I caught you trying to break into my secret room,” he says.

“I...I was trying to check for more dirty clothes,” Kayola lies smoothly.

Smooth criminal. Lol.

“Are you lying to me, Kayola?” He asks and moves very close to her. He keeps moving until her back hits the door of the secret room.

“No, Alpha” Kayola replies, her voice shaky. She looks into his eyes and tries to decipher what she sees but his look is unreadable.

“Good,” This is all he says before lifting her right leg and wrapping it around his strong waist. Kayola has no idea exactly what he is trying to do, but she starts to shiver in anticipation. The body, they say, is treacherous.

He pushes her gown further up her slim waist and uses his thumb to find her moist curls. Kayola is grateful and at the same time regretful that she is not wearing panties. She closes her eyes and savors his touch, waiting for him to touch her where she is open and ready for him. She wonders why a man who publicly took her could turn her on so much, turning her into a dripping mess.

“Open your eyes and look at me,” He commands and she obeys instantly. At this point, if he asks her to jump, she’ll only ask how high.

As she opens her eyes and locks them with his, Devilio swiftly plunges two fingers into her and she cries out in pleasure.

“Ssshhhhhh…” he hushes her, and this only drives her crazier. He keeps working his fingers in her while caressing her clitoris with the heel of his palm. Kayola starts to murmur incomprehensible words.

Just as she is about to go over the edge, Devilio withdraws his hand and drops her leg. He turns his back on her and says, “Leave my presence”.

What the hell?

Kayola stares at his back for a long time before she leaves for her room. She is so disoriented that she does not even remember to pick up the clothes.

When she enters her room, she shuts her door and leans against it, her legs still shaking from what happened earlier. The only question on her mind is, “What the hell was that?”
