Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Chapter 38

Two days later no Frozen chrysanthemum was found and I heard that some of the king's staff had died because of a snow storm as they were climbing Jeufeng mountain which is one of the highest mountains in the world. On the other hand, Trevas' condition is getting worse.

My face sank into Trevas's bed as I clung tightly to his hand. His hand was very hot and his face had turned pale and I felt even more scared when I noticed that he had lost weight over the past two days.

"Alissa" I turned to Lina who had just entered the room. He closed the door before standing beside me.

"You should rest ... You've been here all night, are you still sleeping?" He asked.

I leaned back in my seat and just now I realized that I haven't been sleeping these past few days because I'm watching Trevas. It takes a minute to wipe him with cold water to slow down the spread of the poison in his body.

"I can't sleep" I said in a raspy voice.

"Are you still eating?"

I nodded, still eating. Sometimes I really don't feel like eating so I only eat a little.

"Why are you doing this?" Lina asked worriedly before holding my arm.

I don't know either ...

Two days have passed but until now the frozen chrysanthemum has not been found and Trevas' condition is getting worse.

Her body is so hot and I almost burn every time I touch her hand and her color is so pale.

My chest immediately tightens every time I see him like that.

"What will happen if we couldn't find the flower in a few days?" I asked the royal Alchemist when he entered the room to check on Trevas' condition.

He approached Trevas before touching her chest and feeling her every heartbeat before turning to me and shaking his head.

"We just have to pray that he can fight the poison in his body alone" she sighed before walking out.

My hand went numb and my fingernail got stuck in my palm but I didn't feel any pain. I was disgusted, I was disgusted with myself because I could do nothing.

I could do nothing for Trevas like when I did nothing for my parents.

I left the room and walked straight to Lina's room. "Let's find that flower"

Lina, who was currently lying on her bed, looked at me and was writing to the messenger in front of her.

"Flower?" Lina asked before looking back at the messenger and starting to write again.

"The frozen chrysanthemum needed for Trevas' poison medicine" I replied so he stopped and turned to me.

He finished what he was writing before getting up from the bed and sitting down.

"That's a bad idea" he said sparingly.

"I can't just do nothing" I said before leaning against the door and leaning my head there.

"Do you think we can find the flower that even the king's staff can't find?" He asked.

"We can try, I'm an ice user so I won't be exposed to the cold so there's a good chance I'll find that"

"Trevas won't be happy when he finds out you risked your life just to save him"

"How did you find out?"

"c'mon Alissa, we all know that Trevas likes you. And if I'm him, I don't want you to leave"

I bowed for a moment and fell silent. "He won't know"

Lina sighed. "What if we can't find that flower?"

"We will ... I'm sure of it"

Lina was silent, probably not knowing what to answer. "Can I still change your decision?"

I shook my head so Lina wiped her hand on her face. "Alright"

"But once Trevas wakes up, you will tell him you like him too" He continued before walking out of the room.

The next day, Lina and I ran out of the palace together. We said goodbye to lieutenant Jared and the two other generals who were just shoppers in town but what they didn't know was that we would flee to go to jeufeng mountain.

"I lied to my baby" Lina growled as we walked towards the forest to the south.

We could still hear the noise of people coming from the large wall surrounding the kingdom of Beifang but the sound of the tree leaves was more dominant whenever the strong wind blew.

"We can't tell lieutenant Jared that we will flee to jeufeng because he will probably report us to the king and will not allow us"

"Even though ... I still lied" he growled before kicking the small rock at his foot.

It also took us about three hours to get to the jeufeng mountain which is between Beifang and Bauxacel the Jeufeng mountain but due to its extreme height it is not the way to go and we still have to go around the big mountain to get to both kingdoms.

Lina put on the coat she brought but I just went straight up the mountain because I wasn't affected by the cold.

That said, in the coldest part of the world the frozen chrysanthemum grows so it often grows at the top of the mountain or at the very bottom of the icy ocean so Lina and I just started looking when we were in the middle of the mountain.

It was freezing around and the wind was strong, so Lina got even colder now that she was clinging tightly to her thick coat.

"It's so freaking cold" Lina whispered repeatedly but even so she turned around and helped me find the magical flower.

The snow is thick as we step on it but the frozen chrysanthemum grows on top of the snow so we won't have a hard time seeing it in case there is one on this mountain.

I suddenly turned to Lina when I heard her suddenly kneel in the snow. I hurried over to him and supported him.

His hand was shaking and so was his lip because of the extreme cold, so I had no choice but to teleport down the mountain where we left our belongings.

I leaned him against a tree before lighting a bonfire to keep him warm. I decided to just continue the search tomorrow because we will be spending the night.

"I'm sorry" Lina said before hugging her knees.

"Why are you so sorry?" I will ask.

"I'm weak" he whispered before placing his chin on his knees and staring at the bonfire. "I'm so weak, I'm not like you and Trevas ... Even with Jared's power there's no level 4 like me"

"Don't say that, you're one of the strongest person I know" I said sincerely but he just laughed at me.

"I'm serious Lina" he suddenly stopped and looked at me. The light of the fire reflected in his eyes.

"Remember when I was just a level 2 water user and my schoolmates at Hamiltron Academy always looked down on me? You simply flew the workbooks they were holding into the canal to get revenge on them" I laughed as I remembered those times.

"But we were still punished because they found out that I was the one with the plan" Lina shook her head.

"That's the point, you did your thing even though you knew you could be caught and punished" I held Lina's arm before she smiled.

"You are a very brave woman Lina ... You are not afraid even if your ability is weak and for me, that's being strong ..."

The next day, Lina and I climbed the jeufeng mountain again, but we suddenly stopped when we heard the loud roar of an unfamiliar animal.

That loud noise rumbled around so I tightened my grip on Lina's arm.

"What was that?" I asked as I looked around and searched for the source of that noise.

"Maybe it's just a polar bear"

"Polar bear but the buzz is so loud?" Suddenly I cringed.

'Its a Chenoo'

I stopped walking when I heard Anna's voice.

'Chenoo?'

'Yes, It's an ice monster that eats people'

Suddenly my hair stood on end because of what he said. The fear I had felt before intensified but my attention was suddenly taken away when I saw something shining in the distance.

"Do you see what I See?" I heard Lina ask who was also looking at the glowing object.

We walked to the source of the light and realized that it was coming from a cave with snow covered the floor and sharp ice hanging from the ceiling and in the very center of that cave was a glowing flower.

"The frozen chrysanthemum!" Lina and I cried almost at the same time and were excitedly arguing because we had finally found the flower that would heal Trevas.

We quickly walked into the cave but at the same time we suddenly became cold for some unexplained reason. Lina suddenly trembled and hugged herself.

Suddenly my heartbeat quickened for no apparent reason and intensified even more as we approached the frozen chrysanthemum. It looks like a normal white chrysanthemum but the only difference is that the flower looks fragile as if it were made of ice.

I looked around but because it was dark and only the light coming from the flower served as light I saw nothing else.

"What are you waiting for?" Lina asked when she saw that I hadn't picked the flower yet.

I just shrugged my shoulders before kneeling in front of the flower and picked it up slowly, afraid that its corolla would be scratched or broken, which would seem to be broken by any wrong move.

I took out a jar from my magical bracelet and was about to put the flower inside when we suddenly heard another loud roar but the only difference is, now the source of that roar is louder and closer.

Lina and I heard footsteps thundering inside the cave and at the same time we looked up at the large creature walking towards us. He was covered in thick white fur while his mouth was full of blood flowing down his chest.

'Run!'
