Chapter 74: Chapter 74

"Hello Kyle, what brings you here? And is your body treating you well?" Doctor Sam asked when I came into his office, I bet he thinks that I am here because of a health condition.

"Yes, Doctor Sam," I replied extending my hand to shake his.

"Alright, have a seat," he said after taking the handshake, gesturing for me to sit in a chair in front of his table.

"How is your Dad doing?" Doctor Sam asked staring into my face, "I hope all is well at home," he added still gazing at me.

"Yes, Doctor Sam, I came to see you for some personal matters," I told him.

"What personal matters?" He asked peering at me.

"I need you to do something for me," I told him, going straight to what brought me to his office.

"Okay," He replied.

"I need you to run a DNA test using this," I told him producing the handkerchief that is in my front pocket, and unwrapping it for him to see the strands of hair in it.

"Excuse me, a DNA?" He asked sounding and looking confused at the same time, I bet he must be wondering what I need to run a DNA for, and for whom.

"Yes, Doctor Sam, a DNA, I hope this will be enough anyway?" I asked staring into his face hoping that it would.

"Yes, I think this will be enough for DNA," He replied, "Now whose DNA are you talking about?" He asked again, gazing at me with some sort of confusion, I guess judging from the look on his face.

"Look, Doctor Sam, I do not know how to explain this to you, but I need you to conduct the DNA for me, I know this might sound crazy," I told him, thinking of the right words to use in this explanation, I never really did think about it before coming here and now I am at a loss on how to explain it to him.

"You say the DNA test is for you?" Doctor Sam asked, his eyes peering inquisitively at me, "I don't understand," he said again.

"You see Doctor Sam the hair samples here are from two kids, I just want to know if they match mine, I want to know if the kids are mine Doctor Sam," I told him.

"Kids?" Doctor Sam asked again looking from me to the handkerchief on his table.

"Please, Doctor Sam, I need you to conduct the test result by yourself and please do keep this a secret from my family," I told him.

"Wait, slow down," Doctor Sam told lifting his palm to me, "Did some lady tell you that she has your kids, is that what this is about?" Doctor Sam asked.

"Oh, no, Doctor Sam, it is not what you think," I told him.

"Tell me, then, What is it?" He asked again leaning backwards on his chair, I think he is being this inquisitive because of his relationship with my family.

"It is a long story Doctor Sam, I do not know if the kids are mine but I just have the urge to check, just to be sure, that's all," I told him, hoping he would stop prying.

"Okay then," He said, "tell me whose kids have this, I mean, what are the name of the kids?" He asked, taking the handkerchief and collecting the samples.

"You have to give me their names," he said again lifting his head to me, when I did not reply.

"Is it necessary, because I do not know the names of the kids," I said, lying to him about that because telling him their names is like telling him what I have done without being sure if the kids are mine.

"Okay, then," Doctor Sam said in return after staring at me for a while, it is just as if he does not believe that I do not know the names of the kids whose hair samples I have just brought.

"I would like to know when I can get it, I mean the results," I told him gazing into his eyes, when he has finished putting the hairs into a sample bag and labelled it.

"Give me three to four days," he told me.

"Three to four days? That long?" I asked a little surprise, I did not expect it to take that long.

"Yes, Kyle," he told me, "I need to also get a sample from you he added.

"Alright, Doc, but can I not have it earlier than that, I mean, three to four days is a long time for me," I told him.

"No, Kyle, I need at least that long to get it ready," Doctor Sam told me standing up from his chair.

He produced another sample bag the type he used to put the strands of hair before, "I need you to pull out some of your hair for me as well," he told me.

"Alright, Doc," I replied doing as he has told me to, "Here, it is," I added after pulling some strands of hair from my hair.

"Put them into the bag," he told me.

"Will this be enough?" I asked him, after putting my strand of hair into the sample bag.

"Yes, Kyle, I think I am going to have to work with this." He replied, walking back to sit on his chair.

"Please do this yourself, Doctor Sam, to avoid mistakes," I told him.

"My team are professionals, Kyle, but for your peace of mind, I will conduct the test myself," Doctor told me letting out a smile.

"Alright, Doctor Sam, and my family should not know about this," I said and reminded him.

"Noted, Kyle, you do not need to worry about that, you can come by in four days, it should be ready by then," he told me.

"Okay, thanks, Doctor Sam," I told him, extending my hands to shake him again.

"Your welcome," He said taking the handshake, I left his office afterwards, knowing he had some questions he would have loved to ask me judging by his facial expression, but I will have to answer then later on my next visit, and that is if only the result turns out to be positive...
