Chapter 70: Chapter 70

"What?" I asked seeing how Vicky and Jimmy turned to look at me the moment Sonia drove out of sight.

"What do you mean, what?" Vicky asked, "why didn't you call to tell us what was going on?" Vicky continued, "you should have at least call to inform either of us that Kyle was here and that he was bothering you, even Sonia," she added.

"I do not think that was necessary, Vicky," I replied her.

"Why would you say it was not necessary," Jimmy asked staring at me too, "what if something bad had happened to you?" he added.

"Oh that wasn't necessary," I told Jimmy, "I can handle it and besides you, two are at work I should not depend on you to fight for me all the time, I should be able to take care of myself and my kids too, some times," I told them.

"By the way, how did the both of you come to be here? You guys are supposed to be at work," I asked glancing from one person to the other.

"How can we not be here? Sandra called me," Vicky said, "and I have to call Jimmy because she said Kyle is here and that he is bothering her mummy, so we have to come here as fast as we can," Vicky told me.

"What? Sandra called you?" I asked surprised at what Vicky just said, I did not know that she had my phone, I must have left it in their room when I came to get the door.

"Yes, Sandra did call me," Vicky replied nodding her head in acknowledgement, "the poor kid sounded so frightened over the phone," Vicky added opening the door and walking into my living room, Jimmy and I followed behind.

"What do you mean she was scared? I mean, how did she sound and how did she know his name was Kyle?" I asked.

"What do you mean by that?" Vicky asked turning to look at me, "you act as if you do not know the kind of children you have, they are smart kids you know," Vicky said.

"So Sandra knew who he was?" I asked almost to myself.

"She did not tell me his name out rightly, but she described him for me so I knew he was the one," Vicky replied.

"I am wondering how he came to know where you leave," Jimmy said.

"Yes, me too," Vicky added.

"I am also wondering the same thing and I asked him but he wouldn't tell me," I told them walking towards my kid's room, Vicky and Jimmy followed behind.

"Sandra," I called walking into their room, they are still playing with their toys but together this time, and they seemed engrossed in what they were doing.

"Sandra," I called again.

"Mum," they both echoed looking up from what they were doing.

Sandra ran to hug me, while Alex ran to hug Jimmy and Vicky instead.

"Hello, Buddy," Jimmy said to Alex, lifting him off the ground a little before putting him down again, "How are you?" He asked him.

"I am good, look at what I made," Alex told Jimmy showing him the same thing he showed to me earlier which he made out of his building blocks.

"Wow, that's cool, you made this?" Jimmy said and asked him.

"Yes, I did," Alex replied.

"Sandra, why did you call Aunty Vicky?" I asked looking at Sandra and ignoring Alex and Jimmy who both kept on chatting about Alex's toy.

"I had to call her, Mum because I was scared, I was scared of what that man will do to you, he was knocking on the door so much that I had to call aunty Vicky," Sandra told me.

"But he wasn't the one, Sandra, it was someone else, you should not have called your Aunty Vicky away from work like that," I told her, "Look, your Aunty Vicky had to call your uncle Jimmy as well," I added, looking down at her.

"I thought he was the one, that was why I call her, I am sorry, mummy, I was only scared that's why," Sandra told me fondling with her fingers now, I stared at her feeling lucky to have someone who is looking out for me, I am Still marveled though at how smart she is, and she is right to have called for help, what if I was in real danger? I asked within me.

"Do not pay attention to your mum, okay, Sandra," Vicky told Sandra pulling her closer to her side, "you did the right thing, Sandra, if something like this happens again make sure to call me okay," Vicky told Sandra, holding her little hands.

"Do not get me wrong, Vicky, I am not mad at her, it is just that I am a little surprised that a three a year old kid could do a thing like that, I mean, I don't know if I am this smart when I was her age," I told Vicky pulling Sandra into my arms.

"Of course, you were not as smart as this," Vicky said

"Well-done sweetie, you did a great job, I am blessed to have you," I told Sandra, giving her a kiss on both cheeks.

"What about me, Mum?" Alex asked, I thought he was engrossed in his conversation with Jimmy.

"You?" I asked, looking at him, "I thought you did not care, I said teasingly to him.

"No, Mum, it was actually Alex who asked me to call Aunty Vicky if I am worried about you," Sandra told me.

"He did?" I asked a little surprised, he acted like he didn't care when I first came into the room after Kyle left.

"Yes, mummy," Alex replied shrugging his shoulders a little.

"Well-done buddy," Jimmy told him, giving him a high-five.

"You are truly blessed to have these kids," Vicky told me.

"Yes, I am Vicky," I replied spreading my arms, gesturing for Alex to give me a hug too.

I gave the both of them a big hug and kissed his cheeks too, just like I did Sandra's.

"It is alright, little angels, you can go back to your toys now, I and Mummy need to talk," Vicky told them after I release them from my embrace.

I stared at Vicky wondering what she is going to talk to me about even though I have an idea of what she is going to say, Jimmy stayed with the kids while I followed Vicky out of Alex and Sandra's room, she worked into my room gesturing for me to follow behind...
