Chapter 67: Chapter 67

Kimberly Brown's POV

"Mum..." Sandra called coming out of their room again, when I closed the door after Kyle.

"Sandra," I said too, opening my arms with one of my knees down as Sandra ran towards me.

"Are you alright, sweetie?" I asked, sensing she is not alright, I think she must be scared because of what she saw earlier when Kyle was here.

"Are you alright now, Mummy?" She asked instead looking into my face.

"Yes, sweetie, why do you ask, I mean, what's wrong?" I asked her too in return pretending like nothing happened.

"Did that man hurt you?" Sandra asked, touching my face with her little tender palms.

Oh my goodness, I said within me, I never knew I have such a caring daughter, it felt good to see how caring and concerned she looks at me, I feel blessed to have my kids with me, I said within me again, giving her a hug instead.

I hugged her tight a little, pressing her to my body, before releasing her again.

"That man did not hurt me, sweetie, he can't hurt Mummy okay," I told her, holding her chin up so that I can look into her eyes.

"We had a little misunderstanding, that is all, he does not mean any harm alright," I told her again, "so you don't have to be scared,"

"Alright, Mum," Sandra replied, hugging me this time.

"What is Alex doing?" I asked her, still hugging her, because holding her like this comforts me.

"He is playing in the room," she replied letting go of me now.

"Playing?" I asked almost to myself, wondering why he did not come out, I and Kyle raised our voices a little.

"Come on, mum, come and help me dress my doll," Sandra told me, walking back into their room.

"Alright, sweetie," I said walking behind her.

"Mum, look what I made," Alex said when I walked into their room, lifting a bunch of building blocks.

"It is beautiful, Alex," I said to him, "but is this why you did not come out to check on mummy earlier?" I asked still wondering why he did not come out of the room.

"Do not mind him, mum, I told him to come with me but he refused, he told me that he is busy so he cannot come out with me," Sandra told me.

"Mum, was something the matter?" Alex asked looking at me, immediately after Sandra's statement.

"Were you not worried about mummy being alone with a stranger?" I asked teasingly to hear what he has to say, I mean what could a three-year-old possibly do to help me even if I was in danger? I asked within me.

"I did not come out Mummy because he does not seem to me like a bad person," Alex replied and went back to play with his blocks.

"What do you mean by that, Alex?" I asked surprised at his reply.

"He was your guest right?" Alex asked, "so he will not do anything bad to you, I told Sandra that you two were having an adult conversation but she refused and came back outside instead," Alex said, sounding like a grown-up, leaving me marveled at how they think, he and Sandra.

He is right though, we are adults having a conversation and he is my guest that was what I told them, I said within me shaking my head, and smiling a little, talking with my kids like this give me sweet comfort, it is for me, more than a sweet comfort actually, something I lack words to explain, I am grateful to Vicky for not letting me make the greatest mistake of my life, I sometimes wonder what life would have been for me if I had gone ahead and aborted these two just as I planned I would, especially after my mum's death.

Although, it gets tough sometimes and I feel like giving up, but the joy these two brings me is worth more than the hardship I feel, and I believe that someday all the hardships will be over...

"Who could be knocking on my door now?" I asked within me coming back to the present, when I heard a knock coming from the front door, I hope Kyle did not come back here...

"Mum, someone is knocking on the door," Sandra told me.

"Yes, I heard it, sweetie," I said to Sandra, "who could it be?" I asked out loud but to myself.

"It could be your guest again, Mum," Alex told me looking up, "how would you know who is knocking when you have not answered the door, Mum," Alex said again and went on with what he was doing.

"Alex..." I called, pausing and staring at him for a while, how could a kid his age talk like this, I thought, getting up from the floor to go and answer the door when I heard the persistent knock.

What is Kyle doing here again? I asked within me suspecting that he is the one, I know that I do not have people visiting me at my home except for Jimmy and Vicky and they do not knock on my door like this, so it must definitely be Kyle knocking on my door like this, I wonder what he wants from me this time.

I open the door immediately I got to it but to my surprise, it wasn't Kyle standing there, it is no other than, Sonia standing in front of my house...
