Chapter 60: Chapter 60

Kyle Greenwood’s POV

"Hello, Kyle," Brian said when he came into my ward in the hospital.

"What are you doing here, Brian?" I asked, I am still a little angry with him because of what he did, I know he was the one that brought me to the hospital because his office was the place I was when I fainted.

"Are you still mad at me?" Brian asked, I guess he could see that because it is written all over my face, "Do not tell me you are still mad at me," Brian said looking at me when I did not reply.

"What do you think?" I asked in return, frowning at him.

"You should already know by now that I have to carry out Dad's instruction," Brian told me almost immediately sitting on the chair beside my bed.

"You don't have to do everything dad I ask you to do, there are things you shouldn't do," I said sharply at him.

"You know that is not going to work with Dad right? You know how he is, it's not like you are not aware of his nature, and besides I don't want to do anything that is going to hurt him, you know his health condition, don't you?" Brian asked me in a rather calm manner.

I just stared at him trying not to get angrier at him, "You should stop using Dad's health condition as an excuse to do everything he asks you to do even if it comes to hurting others," I told him trying to control my temper now.

"I don't understand you, Kyle, come to think of it, what did I do wrong in this case? why are you getting yourself all worked up because of that lady? I am even trying to do her a favor here, I mean, Dad did her a favor, he gave her a beautiful cheque, she should have accepted it and count it as a blessing rather than taking it as an insult or something," Brian said and continues, "believe me, Kyle, I think that woman is not in her right senses, I mean no one in their right senses would reject a cheque as good as that one, it is also for her son's benefit you know," Brian told me,

"I wonder why she would reject that check in the first place or is it because Sonia arrested her? Is that why she returned the cheque?" Brian asked.

"You don't understand, Brian," I told him.

"Then, you make me understand, you act like you know this woman from somewhere or have you two come in contact with each other before?" Brain asked again, staring at me this time.

"It does not matter, Brian, I think she feels insulted by the cheque, most importantly by the treatment she received from you and Sonia, especially Sonia, I mean, why will you bring her here in the first place? You know that woman is trouble," I told Brian.

"That is your fiancée you are talking about here," He said, "I am even surprised at you, I still am, you should have defended your fiancé instead of taking that woman's side, I heard you went ahead and release her from the police station, why so? You should have at least let her spend the night there," Brian told me.

"Listen to yourself, Brian, listen to what you are saying, that woman's son was in a critical condition and instead of you talking to Sonia or getting angry at Sonia for getting her locked up, you are here saying she should have spent the night in a police cell," I said angrily at Brian.

"I don't know what has come over you, why are all of you acting like this? I expected you to be reasonable," I told him.

"This is not a matter of being reasonable, Kyle, that woman insulted Sonia and she retaliated by getting her arrested, she should have thought about her son's condition before going ahead to slap Sonia, well, that is, by the way, now that she can out and saw that she was given a cheque as beautiful as that one from us, what she should have done is to thank us for it, because on the long run, we did her a favor, if her child was properly taken care of, he would not have been in the accident in the first place," Brian told me.

I just stared at Brian wondering why he would think the way he does now, I never expected him to think Like this, or has Mum and dad or even Sonia infected him or something, with their reasoning.

"Anyways," Brian told me, "I came here to take you home, Doctor Sam said you are good to go when Dad called him, that is why I am here he added, " I did not come here to argue or pick a quarrel with you," Brian said again.

"I don't want to go with you, Brian," I told him, looking at the roof.

"Don't be stubborn, Kyle, we have to go home, Dad is waiting for us," He told me.

"Have I been discharged already?" I asked him, getting surprised, I do not feel like going home just yet as I do not want to listen to any of their speech tonight, it is irritating me already.

"Yes, you have been discharged so put yourself together we have to go home now," He replied, "I was just coming from Dr Sam's office, you are good to go, he told me that he will send a nurse with your medications, I wonder what is keeping her, she ought to have been here by now," Brian said and almost to himself.

Almost as soon as Brian finished his statement the door opened and a nurse walked in.

"Good evening Sir," The nurse said.

"Good evening," Brian replied to her.

I did not bother to reply her because to me, there is nothing good about the evening, as it is, I do not know how to get by tonight because of what I feel within me, I feel very restless and I know it is because I have not spoken with Kimberly, neither do I know how they are doing, I need to find a way to get to Doctor Sam, he still has to give me Kimberley's contact information.

"Here is your medication, sir, and some prescription of food you need to eat," The nurse said, giving me a list and the medication.

"Thank you," I told her, "Excuse me," I said as she turns to leave.

"Yes," she replied, facing me again.

"Is Doctor Sam in his office?" I asked.

"No, he isn't there," The nurse replied.

"Where is he?" I asked again.

"He is attending to a patient," The nurse replied again.

I need to see him, I mumbled almost to myself.

"Come on, Kyle, we have to go now," Brian told me, Doctor Sam went to take care of a patient as I left his office, I guess it is an urgent matter that is why he sent the nurse here anyway.

"How urgent is the situation?" I asked the nurse, "I mean, when do you think he is going to be back to his office?" I asked the nurse instead.

"I do not know, sir, please excuse me," The nurse replied before leaving the room.

"Why do you want to see Doctor Sam?" Brian asked, immediately after the nurse left the room.

"It is none of your business, Brian," I replied without looking at him.

"What do you mean, it's not my business? We have to go now, you can see him some other time, I think the situation is quite demanding because I saw when some nurses rushed in a seriously injured person on my way in, so I do not know when Doctor Sam will be out, it is sure going to take some time," Brian told me, gesturing for me get up so that we can leave.

"I need to see Doctor Sam, Brian, it is important to me, if you cannot wait for me, then you can go home, I will find my way home instead," I told him still without looking at him. "Kyle..." Brian said, sitting back on the chair and staring at me.

"I am serious, Brian, you can go home, I will take a taxi home, you should have sent the driver, why bother coming here, when you know you are tired,"

"It is Dad's instruction that I get you home myself," Brian told me staring at me.

"Oh, I see, it is Dad's instruction again, always doing his bidding, I bet you can not say no even when you are dying," I told him sarcastically.

"That is not funny, Kyle," Brian told me, this time furrowing his brows at me, I guess he is a little pissed by what I said, I do not care anyway, he is always running whenever Dad commands, his attitude towards Dad's instructions irritates me most times, if he has stood up to him from the beginning and not always being scared maybe, just maybe, Dad may not be bossing us around and imposing his will on us like this, I said within me, leaning back on the bed not willing to say anymore to Brian...
