Chapter 71: Chapter 71
“Set the alarm! Shut the gates!”
I let out a bestial grumble that vibrated through the corridors, and floors. I could perceive their shrieks of torture. I breathed in, and out. My caliginous hooded eyes were shooting daggers as I watched how they run for their lives, calling all the authorities.
Two decades. I have been trap here for almost two decades. Yet, none of them did ever to come here for a visit. I showed my chiseled set of teeth while extending out my long arms. My sharp claws flared, lustrous when a light hits it.
Everyone was out of their sanity. Some were crawling, making their way out of the Asylum. Thanks for their crackbrained staff that was new here, and accidentally left the keys in my room, I managed to discharge.
I can cognizance the consuming flow of rage streaming through my blood vessels. I step on Dr. Victor Mend’s ankle, halting him from what he is planning to do. He’s trying to escape from this place. I joust my head playfully, my hooded sinful eyes were staring at his slashed back.
Blood was gushing out of his back. He couldn’t even move that freely. I already caused enough mayhem from this place. Everything is about to collapse. It’s been years since I felt this lively. The aroma of fresh bodily fluid is stuffing my nostrils. I inhaled precipitously, sucking in all of their souls.
“E-ethan…please, have mercy on me-”
I grabbed him by his neck, throttling him. Dr. Mend’s face turned purple from the lack of oxygen. I slowly lifted him up from the ground while he’s kicking off his feet to wriggled away from my deadly grip. I doubt this old man can escape. Looking around, there’s at least hundreds of dead bodies everywhere, and the devil did this.
The devil itself.
“You treated me like a waste material. Why would I have mercy on you after taking an experiment on me?” I cocked my head to my right, pouting innocently. I placed my foot on the edge of the divider, stretching my muscles.
It feels good to be finally out of that shit hole. I can finally roam free in this country. I can finally take a visit to my family who I, in a heartfelt way, adore. I snickered, the side of my lips reaching my ears. My eyes gleamed, brushing off with my tongue his blood that was streaming down in the corner of his lips. What a bittersweet taste.
“I’ll kill you all. I’ll lessen the population of this country. I will make sure that no one will block my way, or suppress me. You hear me?” I said cheerfully, patting his head.
Dr. Mend was speechless, unable to grasp my words. I sighed since I understand that kind of reaction. Please, people like him are boring. Those who live a normal life are dull. All they could think of is to eat, sleep, work, study, then sleep again. The identical rhythm is wrecking the apodictic significant of living.
One must forfeit in order for another life to born. The world is slowly losing its sense of balance when population keeps on increasing. The essence of striving to live is being taken away by those who think that devout will salvage everything. When in fact, it won’t.
Everyone has their own opinions. However, if they don’t respect mine, then, I don’t respect theirs.
“Ethan, there’s still a chance for you to see the brighter side. Please, listen to me, and think of this!”
I yawned, my hooded eyes is starting to doze off, “Are you done, old man? Any last words before I kill you here along with the others?” I motioned my hand, gesturing the place that it’s about to disintegrate.
Dr. Mend gritted his teeth, narrowing his eyes into slits.
“Your day will come, Ethan! Your sins will get you! Your fucking ideology will crumble into pieces, and you taste the sweet flavor of karma-”
I sliced him, and took out the central part of his body. He instantly kick off the bucket, his head hanging like a puppet that’s not being controlled. I snort then went drop his body on the floor. I inspect the surroundings, realizing that I did make a mess here. I sighed, tediously, before digging up a hole that would cover the crime scene.
I am not dumb to left my mark here. I have to make sure everything is spotless before I rushed out of this place. However, I was in the middle of the process when a light flickered in the corners of my eyes. It was a dot, still far away from where I am, but I can hear the sirens, and strides of boots. I cursed. They’ll be here soon enough. I took off my hospital gown then force it on someone’s body.
In that way they’ll never know it was me who did it. I must not leave a scrunch here. That would be a biggest mistake.
I took a sprint, dashing my way into the middle of the woods. I almost soar on the land, using my four legs to get away from this area. I could feel the substance of my strength thrusting my veins together. I was tempted to howl, but I shouldn’t let them know my whereabouts. It was flaunt my identity.
They must not know creatures like me exist in this world.
I did not stop from running even if my throat is parched. M stomach was grumbling, famished to eat something but I shouldn’t let my weakness take control. I should have gathered enough strength after those years of being caged like an animal in a zoo. I scowled, my eyes turning dark.
Those behemoth who do enquiry on hapless creatures deserves to perish. We have a life but they couldn’t simply comprehend that. That’s why I have to eliminate those who are wrecking this homeland. I have to make a move or this world will fall apart.
I have to kill more humans.
I was on a rampage, going onslaught in secret. I did ensure my cover wasn’t blown. Those who I know who doesn’t deserve to have an existence is being pulled into darkness. There’s no point of explaining why am I doing this. Simplex disposed humans won’t understand this.
I halt when I finally reached our home. I was catching my breath while looking through the window to see what’s going on inside. I leaned against a tall tree beside me, crossing my arms against my chest. I couldn’t help but to notice the slight difference of when the last time I saw this house. The wall paintings denatured. The once gable roof is now mansard.
The environment changed. It’s like they forgot about my existence, that I supposed to live here. Well, doesn’t matter anyway. I am now here to take what is rightfully mine.
I looked down, and did make sure I look decent, and not covered with my victim’s blood. I anticipated for the right time to introduce myself. I fixed my naturally draggled hair. I straighten my back before twisting the door open. I have to act like I am Nathan. I need to take this chance while he’s away.
“Nathan? Honey? Is that you?”
My whole body flinched when I heard that familiar voice ringing in my ears. Unnecessary memories flickered in my mind.
“You’re a monster! You deserve to die!”
“You shouldn’t be born in this world!”
“You’re not my son…”
I slowly moved my head towards the kitchen, and oh boy, there she is. I chewed my inner cheeks when I saw her standing while holding a spatula. She aged, there’s no doubt about that given that I also grew up. She had strands of light hair, crease line, but…same radiating smile. My mind wandered from the past when she used to smile like that. To Nathan, obviously. Who am I to her?
I am just a mere pest. An object she threw away. A pet that’s been abandoned. Going back to those tragical representation would make things less entertaining. I am here to have fun, not mourn for myself.
I scoff, feigning a smile. I guess I still looked like my twin, after all. We’re not ‘identical’ for nothing.
“Yeah...” I trailed off, looking around.
“Well, then, dinner is ready!” she excitedly exclaimed.
I did not waste anymore time. I rushed towards the kitchen. The syrupy, saporous aroma hits my nostril, making my stomach grumbled. I conceal my mouth from salivating. I sat on the chair, looking around. The interiors changed. Well, everything did changed.
Except their love for Nathan, and their hatred for me when I tried to open the topic about me while munching on my food.
“Nathan!” she slammed her hands on the table, outrageous, then pointed her finger at my face. My mood did not falter, or my emotion did not even shift. I am used to that kind of stare.
Revolt.
Hatred.
Choler.
And any negative invented words out there.
“Why are you talking about that devil? You know we agreed upon not to talk about that horrid creature! He’s dead! I dispatch him at a young age! Do not say his name ever again, do you hear me?”
I did not say anything. I was clearly enjoying my meal here when she took away my appetency. I sighed then slowly stood up from my chair. Mother was lost for words when I did not stop from growing until my head reaches the ceiling.
“Oh my god…” mother covered her mouth while her eyes were laced with horror.
“Fuck…could it be?” even my old man was backing away, trying to shield his hands to protect his repulsive wife.
“E-ethan….” they gasped my name as if they have seen the devil.
I did not say anything in return. Instead, I took a step forward while my body is slowly transforming into a beast I am. My curse was actually a gift, disguise as a monster.
I can easily kill those who are in my way.
“There’s no escape for the both of you…” I whispered, caressing my mother’s trembling lips.
“What are you?”
“It looks like a beast.”
“Kill him! Kill him!”
“Mother! Father! Please! Don’t do this to me! I’ll be a good boy this time! I won’t escape from my room!”
“E-ethan…please-”
I placed my claw on my father’s lips, hushing him.
“If you want to live, you have to be silent. If you want to die, say another word.”
I slowly let go of his mouth, and I was not surprise when he started to shout at me, calling me names.
“You son of a bitch-”
I took out his heart before he could even finish his sentence. Mother’s eyes trembled with fright while looking at her deceased husband. He dropped on the ground, lifeless. Mother slowly bent her knees, trying to shake his shoulder.
“H-honey?”
No response.
“Now, let me ask you once again mother before I take your life.”
I squatted in front of her since she’s too small to reach my eyes. Her face was pale. Too common reaction from someone who’s about to die. She needs to cheer up because no more pain for her.
“Did you even accept me as your own son?
She blink, processing my question. I can now see emotions in her eyes. Hindrance annihilated her when tears commence to pour down, biting her lower lip.
“Never in my life would I accept someone like you who is a monster-”
In just a blink, I took her out. She choke out a blood, her eyes increased with realization. I did not pull back my arm immediately. I was waiting for her to say something, even before her dying breath, but nothing was I receive.
I yawned then pull back my arm that’s now soaking wet with bodily fluid. I winced when I saw the whole kitchen turned crimson. Now I have to cleanse this place before my twin arrive here.
I could smell his scent meters away. He’s getting closer, and closer. I took out our parent’s lifeless bodies then made them sat on the sofa. We have to accost my twin a welcome party.
“Mom, I’m home!” he yelled while he’s outside the porch, twisting the door knob.
“Hello, Nathan.”
He dropped his bag when our eyes locked. He was speechless, another irksome response. He slowly roamed his eyes around until tears poured down from his eyes when he saw our parents.
“Hello, Nathan.”
Finally, a family reunion.
