Chapter 69: Chapter 69

“No…”

I slowly dropped on the ground while staring out of nowhere. My heart is sinking into the bottommost of the pit. I couldn’t even feel my body anymore. I don’t know what to think, or what to do. Harry is just watching me while my whole body is exploiting down into the ocean floor. I was sinking like a body that has an impairment.

I couldn’t breath.

I couldn’t process everything.

Harry kneeled down when his men started to assemble everything. I felt the ship turned on its engine, signaling that it’s time for us to move forward. Everyone was doing their part. Someone hoist the anchor, and the propeller ignited. My eyes squinted on their own, ogling at my own palms that were covered with blood, bruises, wounds, and battle scars.

A stinging drop of tear pour down, streaming on my arms. Everything was hard for me to take. This whole thing was hard for me to consume, and digest. I gradually clenched my trembling hands before hanging my head low in shame.

“I’m sorry, Natasha, but we can’t do anything.”

Harry was telling me something but I couldn’t understand a word he is saying. All I know is that every last of my weariness was coming together like a boulder smashing my whole system.

“Ethan is falling behind, and he also told me that if things went sideways he wants me to drag you out before something could happen to you.”

He caresses my arm mildly, making sure that I won’t react differently. I didn’t have the strength to look up, and respond to his statement. All I could think of is Ethan.

My husband….

My lips pursed into an unmanageable sobs while tears are falling infinitely down on my cheeks. That feeling when you wanted to breath properly but something is blocking your throat, and chest. You know that part when you tried to suck in for some air but ends up choking back? I couldn’t even open my eyes from weeping too much.

Words can not explicit how profoundly wounded I am. Both physically, and mentally. I wanted to lie down for a minute, and forget that this is really happening.

That we are literally leaving Ethan behind.

“I-I don’t want to do it, Natasha, believe me. I don’t want to…but I can’t let you die! Not when you’re-”

“T-then it’s okay for you to let him die? To let him sacrifice himself? After saving your life?”

I finally pulled up some courage to glance up at him. Harry was speechless when he saw my eyes. I could discern the agony in them. They were evident enough for me to know, but not as much as how I am wretched right now. I raised my weakling hands then smack it against his chest.

“H-he fucking save me…he fucking save you…” I mumbled, my lips were quivering.

“Ethan is my everything. Ethan gave me the chance on how to live my life to the fullest. H-he’s the reason why I kept on going despite the bullshits I sustain upon with.”

I shook my head, couldn’t accept this. I crawled to him then grab his collar. Harry whimpered when I pull him, shaking his upper body slightly because I don’t have the force to shake him vastly.

“P-please…turn this ship.” I begged him.

“Natasha…I can’t-”

“WHY?! Why not?! Fucking tell me why?!”

I can still from here that there’s still a chance to stop this ship. I could still see the port. I know Ethan can still make it in time! Harry’s men were forced to remain in the field to hold some of the authorities from chasing us.

Smoke, and dust were spreading throughout the whole airport, making it arduous for me to see what is going on clearly. I believe that Ethan is still out there, running towards the end of the field to chase us. Harry is just misunderstanding everything!

“Natasha-” Harry stops himself. He bit his bottom lip then looks away. He was battling with himself if either he will tell me or not.

I did not stop from shaking him. I need to know his reason. I need to know why he’s rushing things! Harry closed his eyes firmly, his eye balls were moving rapidly. I covered my mouth when my tears couldn’t stop this time from descending. I don’t know how many buckets of tears I have weep for this year. If only there’s money for every tear I would be rich by now, and I will buy Ethan’s freedom from them.

“It’s because you’re pregnant!”

My whole world stop from spinning. As if something hammered my head, pulling me back into my awareness. I let go of his collar, taking a step back while shaking my head. No. That can’t be. I must’ve misheard him.

“Natasha.” he grabbed both of my shoulder, pinning me on the ground to make sure I am listening to him. My teary eyes ceased when Harry breathed in, sucking for some tenacity before looking at me straight in the eyes.

“Your husband heard your child’s heartbeat. He told me even before we came here at the airport. He doesn’t want to sacrifice this chance, Natasha. I know you once lost a child, and Ethan doesn’t want that to happen again.”

I shook my head. Again, and again before looking down at my flat stomach. Harry said there’s a life in here. It’s not that I don’t want to carry our child. But, after all those getting bushed up, and falling off from the helicopter makes it hard for me to believe that my unborn child survives that.

“That’s why he wants me to drag you away from this place. He wants you to start a life without him because it’s too risky. That’s why he’s having-”

“We have a child.” I slowly mumbled while standing up from the ground. Harry ceased from continuing his words when he notice I was too preoccupied to listen to him. I look at the railings from the corners of my eyes, and saw that we aren’t that far yet.

“Natasha, what are you doing?” Harry’s voice become alarmed when he saw me moving towards the railings of the ship.

The wind was thrusting my hair into different angles. My eyes narrowed into slits when I saw something up ahead. However, I was snap back to reality when Harry spoke behind me. I did not turn around to look at him.

“Natasha, what ever you are thinking get out of there. It’s not safe for your child! I promised Ethan that I will take care of you!” he screamed, making the floors beneath us vibrated.

I saw from the corners of my eyes that some of his men were encircling me. I breathed out a deep sigh before looking at Harry from my bear. I gave him a meaningful smile, holding tightly against the railings.

“I’m sorry but…”

I suddenly stand up on the railings, grasping securely so I wouldn’t fall. Harry yelled, reaching the whole ocean. His men raised their hands, calming me down, and if anything goes wrong they’ll be quick enough to respond.

“I can’t leave my husband, Harry. We promised to create a family of our own, and this is our chance to start again.”

“Natasha! No!-”

Before he could even finish his sentence I hurriedly climbed down on the railings, heading at the lower deck. Some of Harry’s mean leaned their body against the railway, reaching my hands. However, they are too slow ta caught me.

“Don’t let her escape! We can’t afford her to die!” I heard Harry gave his men his order.

I let myself fall on the lower deck, rolling on the floor before shoving myself to stand up. I caress my stomach securely, glancing down to make sure my unborn child wasn’t shook from the impact.

“I’m sorry, baby…” I whispered gently.

“Mommy have to bring back your Dad.” I exclaimed with determination before sprinting away from the deck.

I can’t afford to leave Ethan alone there, fighting for his life so he could save us. i bit my bottom lip then ceased from my tracks when Harry’s wen were approaching me. There are two of them. I glanced around, looking for something that could help me when I saw an oil.

I grab it then sprout it on their faces, blinding their sight. His men moaned in torment while holding on their faces. I poured down all of the oil on the floor then drop is in case some of them will follow me from this way.

I saw a smaller boat hanging at the back of the deck. I clenched my hands into a balled fist before rushing my way towards it. I can’t swim from shallow water. I will use this boat to paddle back to the airport.

I stretch out my arm, about to reach the boat when a strong pair of arms were wrapped around my waist. His hold were gentle, making sure that he won’t hit my vital organs that would lead to miscarriage.

“Natasha! You can’t escape!”

“No! Please! Put me down! Harry!” I was outrageous while punching his arm.

“NO! I CAN’T LET YOU DIE, NATASHA! I CAN’;T LET YOU GO OUT THERE, AND FORFEIT YOURSELF! YOU’LL PUT ETHAN’S SACRIFICE INTO VAIN!”

I choke back a sob when Harry drag me out of the smaller boat. I yelled, begged, and shriek against his ear so he could let go of me but he was persistent to cage me here.

No! I can’t let him go with what he wants! There is no sacrificial! My husband is not yet dead!

A large explosion rings in my ear, halting me from going havoc. My heart was accelerating when I glanced back at the airport, and the flames reflected against my eyes. My jaw drop when the occurrence ignited causing us to look up.

Harry was cursing behind me, and he was giving orders because some of his men are still out there. I don’t have any idea how the detonation happen, and who they are aiming at but I can feel my heart slowly losing its beat when I saw the flare were disseminating all over the field.

“No…”

I shook my head, my eyes did not leave the place. I was frantically searching everywhere, looking for him when I heard something was soaring at the atmosphere.

“Shit! They asked for another back-up!”

“E-ethan…” a tear escape my eyes harrowingly when Harry’s when started to assembled their weapons because the chopper was coming towards our way.

Why it all lead to this?

Why does it have to be us who has to suffer from this traumatic experience? I hanged my head low, looking at the ground.

“Everyone! Look!”

My body jerk up, and glanced beside me to see one of Harry’s men were pointing at something below. My eyes narrowed, then slowly followed with my gaze what he is looking at.

Harry gasped behind me.

“Is that?”

My eyes widen, and my jaw drop when I saw someone was waving their hands, calling for our attention. It was as if everything around us bleached, and he’s the only one I could see in my eyes right now.

“Lower down the small boats!” Harry hastily cry out, alarming his men to move.

He’s alive…I can’t believe this. He’s waving his hand at me while giving me his warmly smile. He was holding his right shoulder, and he must have dislocated it.

“Ethan!” I waved my hand happily, motioning him that I will get down there as soon as I can.

I glanced from my shoulder, and saw that some of Harry’s men were done disregarding the smaller boat. Some are preparing their riffle to aim it at the chopper that is meter away from us.

“Take care of the chopper! Some will go towards that airport, and save Ethan!” Harry was screaming orders, his veins were about to pop out.

“Sir, yes, sir!” they all give him a respectable salute before commencing on their job.

Harry let go of me, and went to the smaller boat. He was typing something in his phone when I grab his arm, halting him from moving forward.

“Natasha-” he was about to look at me from his bear when I jumped in.

“Let me fetch my husband.”

“Natasha,” he closed his eyes then massage his temple. He look so worn-out but he’s suppressing himself.

“Please, stay here-”

“You can come with me, Harry, if you want to make sure that I am alright.” I said with finality.

“Just please…let me do this, for him. I have to save him this time.”
