Chapter 53: Chapter 53

It all happened so fast. I saw how the missile launched towards our way, and at the same time, the light was consuming my sight. It was blinding in the eye. I could feel my heart stop beating for a minute and all of what had happened to me in the past months played like a video type that was being fast forward. I thought it would hit us directly below when something hit Allen’s helicopter, detonating before us. Ethan snatched me away before the bomb could destroy us. We both rolled on the dirt, coughing when the ground beneath us shook its core because of the burst forth successively. Something rings in my ear, almost making me deaf when Ethan shakes my shoulder.

“Look!”

Ethan was covered with dirt and grass when I followed with my eyes where he was pointing at. It was as if my soul had left my body and my heartbeat started to work again when I saw who blew up Allen’s helicopter.

“You must go through me first before killing this couple!” Harry yelled while pointing a sniper at those forces that surrounded us. It was when I realized we were being circled upon. I took a step back when five military soldiers took a step forward toward us, holding a sizable gun directed at Ethan. He blocks his body, yielding it as a shield for me.

The other soldiers went towards Allen’s helicopter that hit a tree, checking their leader. My eyes widened, and my stomach twined when the soldier up front marched an attack on Ethan. Ethan aimed for his head.

“Ethan-” I flinched and covered my ears when I heard a loud gunshot echo throughout the area. When I opened my eyes, the man was lying on the ground, lifeless.

“Harry, shoot him,” Ethan mumbled under his breath. We both looked up to see Harry was gesturing something to us. At first, I didn’t understand what he meant, but it looked like Ethan, beside me, comprehended it. He abruptly took my hand and was about to pull me away from there when four forces encircled us. Ethan cursed and took a step back, pushing me behind because four large guns were angled towards us.

“We need to get to Harry,” Ethan whispered beside me, making me glance towards the helicopter gliding in the atmosphere only to see it drop down its rope ladder. If we get there in time, we’ll escape this town and head towards the airport where his private jet is waiting.

“Give up already, you monster.” the soldier before us muttered with disgrace in his tone.

Ethan’s grip tightened around my hand as we both back down gradually, away from them, when my eyes caught what was happening to Harry’s helicopter. They were being shot! I travel my eyes who is attacking them, and I was baffled to see Allen holding a sniper. He walked with each emphasis, motioning how pissed he was right now and how desperate he was to finish this once and for all.

“That mother fucker is still alive-” before Ethan could finish what he was about to say, he was hit on his jaw, causing him almost to lose his balance.

“Ethan!” I caught him before he could fall. I glanced at the soldiers in front of us, laughing mockingly at our way. I gritted my teeth as I shot them with belligerent glares that could melt someone in their spot. I know it’s not practical since their laughter roared.

“What are you going to do, little girl? Fight us with your eyes?” the man to the left was counterfeit, and I couldn’t take it anymore. I screamed at the top of my lungs and then attacked them. However, before I could even throw a punch, someone tripped on my foot, and I caught myself dropping to the ground with my face. I grunted and rolled in pain when I felt a heavy weight sit on my stomach, pinning my hands on the dirt.

“This woman right here had the guts to fight us! Come on, let’s show them what we got.” the man who called me little girl before licked his lower lip as his eyes were now laced with lewdness and obscene thoughts circulating in it. I backed away and tried to kick him when one of his friends kicked my face, almost leaving me unconscious. Their laughter echoed in my ears as I felt their fingers snaking their way up to my thighs when a blistering animalistic growl vibrated throughout the region. Before I knew it, the man flew away.

I winced and flinched on my spot, pushing myself to sit up and lean my body against the tree behind me only to see Ethan fighting with them. My vision was blurry, but when I blinked multiple times, adjusting to the surroundings, that’s when I saw Ethan defeat the remaining three. There’s only one who is left before him.

My breathing hitched when I noticed how bulky the man was. He was tall as Ethan, with enormous muscles curved and veins popping on his arms. Ethan is not as tall as he is in his human form. I couldn’t help but get worried about this fight. It’s like I am watching a wrestling match with both opposite powers live.

I grip on the grass and then tried my best to stand up while leaning on the tree for support when I heard loud series of gunshots meters away from us. My eyes darted towards Harry’s spot, and it was as if my soul left my body when I saw Harry fall on the helicopter he was riding.

“Harry!” my lips trembled as I watched in horror when Allen sprinted through the gap between them. Someone took over the helicopter, aiming its missile at Allen but couldn’t shoot because Harry was also on the ground.

I don’t know what will I do. This is too much for me to take. Harry is wounded trying to save us, and Ethan is wrestling with a man-like gorilla. I was startled when Ethan was thrown away and dropped before me. Blood was gushing out from his side lip, making me fall on my knees to tap his cheeks.

“E-Ethan? Ethan! Wake up!”

He couldn’t even open his eyes. I sense a presence coming our way. I saw the gorilla man bent down to snatch Ethan’s ankle. I gasped and hugged Ethan to keep him away, but he was strong. I was also snatched away, getting dragged when the man kicked me on the stomach with force before spitting down at me like a pest. I groaned in torment. Tears were strolling down my cheeks as I dropped down. I couldn’t handle the pain anymore.

“Disgusting pieces of shit. People like you are a disgrace to this country. You deserve to get punished!”

“N-no...” I saw he grabbed Ethan on his neck, aiming to snap it in half. I shook my head, begging and wailing for him to stop this madness, when Ethan snapped his eyes open. His eyes shifted perilously when he saw all beat up on the dirt.

“You…how dare you spit on my wife?” Ethan growled, holding the man on his wrist. The man suddenly couldn’t move from his spot as he wriggled away from Ethan’s hold.

He was starting to panic when Ethan slowly stood up straight, wrapping his enormous paws against the man’s neck. Ethan couldn’t see anything but red. His chest was raising then falling from intensity as the man couldn’t feel the ground below. He choked and struggled as his face started to turn purple.

“Apologize.” Ethan said darkly with menace eyes that’s famished for killing.

The man smiled proudly before saying,

“Your wife is a piece of shit-”

I abruptly looked away when I heard a loud snap, making the hair on my back rose in fright. I breathed in and out, trying my best not to look at the cold body that drop but it’s external body part remains on Ethan’s hand. Ethan stood there, breathing heavily before dropping on the ground.

“Ethan…” I run towards his way then hug him from behind. He was covered with blood so I had to wipe them off away, cupping both of his cheeks.

“I killed again…” Ethan mumbled looking straight ahead. I shook my head to him, trying to comfort him.

“You protected me, Ethan. You are my hero…please don’t think you are the bad person here.” I mumbled sweet words on his ears to ease his own. I stroke his hands gently when he slowly stood up. I back away, looking up at him. He inhaled sharply then shook his head, looking down at me.

“Are you okay? They fucking hurt you.” he clenched his jaw.

I nodded, “Yes, don’t worry too much about me. We need to-”

Ethan was shot on his shoulder, making him take a step back and then fall on the ground. I stood there, unable to move a muscle.

“Natasha!”

Before I could turn around, someone pushed me, placing his feet on my back. I grunted in anguish as I try to fight back but then he smack something on my head, making my vision spin.

“Do you think that a bomb can easily kill me?” Allen laughed wickedly and when I tried to peek from my shoulder, he was holding a gun while its mouth was pointed at me.

“You may have killed my troupes, but it’s hard to kill me that easily.” he started to narrate his life.

“I was trained for decades of my life how to be tough and fast. You guys underestimated me quickly.” he bent his upper body down until his lips stroke on my earlobe, sending shivers down my spine.

“Now, I had enough of this game. It’s time for you to surrender.”
