Chapter 32: Chapter 32

“Pack up.”

I nearly jumped in my spot when he bashed his hands against the table. The bowl with milk and cereal spilled all over, making me close my eyes for a minute since a bit of milk sprinkled on my face. I moved my jaw and glared at him, which made him back away a little, whereas his hands were raised a little, indicating he was surrendering. I rolled my eyes at him, then took a napkin, cleaning my face and chest.

“Ethan, what did I tell you about being violent?” I told him, like a mother chastening his child. I heard him let out a sigh at that point, cursed a little, which made me look at him in the eyes again. He harshly bit his lower lip, irritated, then sat before me. He tapped his fingers on the table, looking impatient. But I raised a brow at him, telling him he needed to calm down.

Ethan is still battling with his self-control and how to open up with his feelings to me. There are times he nearly strangled me, about to slaughter me, but fortunately, I can tone him down. I know it’s hard to deal with himself. Mainly he developed up like this. I still don’t know his past and make him like what he is right presently. Each time I attempted to talk to him about it, he would expel me. I have no other choice now and then but to show him my body to calm him, which really works most of the time. Not that I don’t want to, but my body is about to give up on me for getting sore almost every day.

“I was wondering if…”

“If?” I held up, but it looked like it triggered him since his eyes abruptly narrowed into slits. He looks at me as if he’s ready to relish his internal monstrosity to spread his fury around those near his range. Before he might discharge his outrage, I stood up on my seat and then grasped him, relieving him with the words I whispered in his ear. He was shaking severely, wanting to let go of him, but when I looked at him in his eyes, smiling, while holding both of his cheeks, he suddenly calmed down.

“You’re doing great, Ethan.” I kissed his temple. His strained muscles relaxed a little, and then he rested his body. I caressed his cheeks. He’s always like this. He needed to go for a hunt, slaughter someone, and devour their substance with his cursed shape. Still, I’m curious how he got cursed and can alter into a werewolf anytime he wanted to, but my interest can hold up. Right now, what’s important is that he’s calm.

“So, what were you going to say?”

He let out a sigh then look at his fingers. “If we can go out?”

I scoffed, restraining my laugh. He looked at me, dumbfounded why I was laughing. I played with his hair then pinch his cheeks. I can’t believe this man.

“Ethan, of course, we can go out. Where do you want to go? And don’t tell me we’re going to go again to that gambling thing and wager on me? I swear you wouldn’t see this ever again.” I debilitated him whereas motioning my body. His eyebrows nearly made a straight line.

“We won’t, and I already killed Alejandro and his goons.”

Though I anticipated this, it still shocked me to hear. He must have noticed my expression since he pushed me a little then stood up. His eyes are looking in the other direction. He let out a deep sigh. His knuckles are turning white.

“I can’t accept what I did last time and watch you get dragged by that maniac. I had to, Natasha. To calm me, or else many innocent people will get slaughtered. I’m trying to be a good person for you.” he turned his back on me, heading straight to our room. I heard him closing the door, and a loud crash was followed. I was left here alone in the kitchen, confounded.

I shouldn’t have opened up once more about the gambling. It’s my fault for triggering him again. I bit my bottom lip as I paced back and forth, trying to think of a way to patronize him when an idea suddenly lit up in my head. I hope he will like it, though I am not sure about it.

I snatched my wallet and raged out of the house. I didn't ask for his consent since he's probably resting around this time. I took a cab then asked the driver to bring me to the shopping center. While waiting for the whole ride, I grabbed my phone then looked over at the media. I was chuckling about a few cat videos when my giggle suddenly became a scowl when I swiped down. It's news about Allen. My eyes broadened in fear, and I froze on my spot. Suddenly, my heartbeat expedited when I saw what they were talking about.

“I’m not sure about what I saw, but it’s tremendous. The things took the lady, and they suddenly vanished into thin air. It’s like as if they are flying away.” Allen detailed. There’s still a gauze on his temple, and his arms are cemented. I shakily brought down the volume since the driver might hear it. I saw the caption of the video, along with my picture.

"This lady is missing. If you found her, lead her to the police as we'll investigate the thing which captured her." Allen appeared with a sketch of my face. My mouth hung open, incapable of saying anything. I turned off my phone then frantically looked around since I felt like somebody was looking when I turned to the heading of the driver. He's looking at me, and his eyebrows are wrinkled.

“Are you okay, Ma’am? We’re here.”

I have to compose myself. I grinned at him, but a forced one, then gave him the money for the ride. I hastily got out of the car, almost running away. I heard him calling me, but I didn’t look back. My chest is getting heavy with every walk I step. I was reluctant to go inside the mall now. Should I proceed or just go back?

“Ms., you’re in the way.”

Someone tapped me on my back, and because I was anxious, I shrieked. The woman looked at me as if I had five heads, then walked past my side. I didn’t realize I was in front of the mall entrance. I breathed out a sigh. I’m already here. I will buy what I want then will go home.

When I stepped inside, I was part of the ocean of people. Everywhere I see, the place is besieged with civilians. A few are talking on their phone. Others are cheerfully talking with their companions. Even though they were not looking at me, I felt like I was being watched. I quickly went to the department to explore what I was planning to purchase. The method was smooth, for now. I found what I wanted then continued to the counter. The woman at the desk looks at me. I suddenly lowered my head, trying to find my wallet for the cash.

“Ma’am?”

“YES! I am not a murderer!” I suddenly yelled out of nowhere. People beside me look at me, bewildered—some step back a little, scared. I facepalm myself.

“Ah-I was going to ask if you have a discount card gift?” the woman asked. I smiled awkwardly at her, then shook my head. I just gave her my cash, which she accepted, then gave me my change. I grabbed the thing from her and hastily went out of that place. I let out a sigh of relief. I survived in that place. I just needed to get back home.

While on my way home, I was looking outside the window when I heard a loud siren of police pass by. I flinched in my spot and followed it until they disappeared from my sight. I look back at the driver looking at the side view mirror, inspecting the police cars that went past us.

“What happened?” I curiously asked. My inside is flipping. Before he could say anything, the radio suddenly caught our attention when someone spoke.

“There is a sudden commotion here at street cove forty views east. We don’t know how the cars all of a sudden all flipped out, but we heard a long howl of a creature shaking the entire zone, making the citizens frightened.”

“Speed up the car….” I whispered, unable to move a finger. The driver didn’t quite hear what I said because he looked back at me, baffled.

“Excuse me?”

“I SAID SPEED UP!” I yelled in panic, making the driver push the automobile horn, then speed his car.

I think I have an idea of the leading cause of this commotion, and it's all because I didn’t tell him I was going out.
