Chapter 29: Chapter 29
He’s on a chase, again. He can’t survive without devouring someone’s blood and substance. I have to do something to stop this. The police are still on the look for him. They concluded that the suspect for the four missing people is Ethan in his wolf form. When they find out he’s a person who he’s cursed, the military will go search for him. My muscles were debilitated as I shook my head.
“Natasha? What’s wrong, dear?”
I gradually looked at Mrs. Johnson before I ran past next to her. She hollered at my name, asking where I was going, but I didn’t look back. I hastily went for my wallet and raged out of the loft. I didn’t mind if people looked at me like a runner doing a marathon. I need to get to him quick before somebody might see him. What is he even thinking? Why is he killing innocent people again? I thought he was going to change?
“Hey! Watch it!”
“Oh no! My vegetables!”
“Watch where you’re going lady!”
“SORRY!” I just told them my statement of regret since I didn’t have the time to stop by. I look around, searching for a cab. I mumbled a silent curse since there was no sign of a taxi. I let out a deep sigh and was about to cross the street when a car nearly hit me. It let out a blare, making me practically jump in shock and have a heart attack. The window rolled down, and a man with muddled hair wearing shades shouted at me.
“Lady! Do you want to die?!”
Rather than contending with the man, I ran away without looking back. Uproarious commotions were happening behind me. Oh god, I don’t know where I am heading. I was about to head into the woods when somebody ceased me from my tracks. Adrenaline surged through my veins, and my first intuition was to punch the person holding me. However, my attack was stopped when he grabbed my clenched hand.
“Jeez, you need to calm down, woman. Why are you heading there? Haven’t you heard the news? A werewolf was seen here. Not just any werewolf. An enormous one.”
It was the man from the car earlier, and he stopped me. I slapped his hands away. I don’t have time to talk to him and explain to him. I don’t even know him, and he doesn’t have the right to stop me! I turned my back away from him, but he held my pulse and turned me around to face him. He removed his shades, and his dazzling eyes appeared. My breathing hitched the moment he flaunted his long lashes to me. I didn’t realize I was gaping at him.
“I told you, you can’t go there. It’s dangerous.”
I was snapped back to reality when he spoke. That’s when I realized he was holding my elbow, and we were one inch closer to each other. I can scent his masculine fragrance that’s overwhelming my nostrils. I pushed him away, my eyebrows wrinkled and my jaw fixed.
“Who are you to stop me?” I demanded, then pointed my finger at him. I’m not frightened of him. I don’t care who he is. He is just a random person who’s messing with my plans. I ought to have been into the woods for hours now, trying to find Ethan. But I am stuck here since he wouldn’t let me.
He fished something in his pocket. At first, I thought it was a wallet, but he showed me his identification card when he opened it. My eyes contracted, perusing what it said. However, when I soon realized his ID, I slowly looked at him. My internal parts flip when he grins smugly at me.
“I am Allen Aliev Ardolf, sergeant of the army forces. My job is to keep this place and the citizens safe and secured. What you are going to do is illegal. Can’t you see the yellow tape? Indicating that’s it’s under investigation.”
I gulped the knot in my throat as I attempted to find an excuse to say. I can’t tell him that I am searching for somebody in the woods. They might dismiss me, and he will take care of the rest. I couldn’t drop them about Ethan’s identity. He’s a sergeant. Who knows what they might do to someone like Ethan who’s on the loose? The thought of it breaks me as if I was dragged down profound unto the water. Even though I was frantic at him for leaving me, I’m hoping we can settle this mess. I need to talk to him and calm him down.
“I-I’m sorry.” I looked down at my feet. I played with my fingers. I can’t think of something. I just turned around and strolled away from him. He called me, asking what’s my name and he was willing to take me home when I faced him and pushed him away. I accelerated into the woods. My heart is skipping a beat. I couldn’t believe what I had just done. I know he said it’s forbidden, but he can’t stop me. I’m coming for someone dear to me. Someone who I needed to protect.
I am coming for you, Ethan.
“HEY! Come back here! You can’t go there!”
Of course, I didn't listen to him as I proceeded to my path. I can't go back to him, and he might put me in jail. I battled so hard to live for my freedom. Going to jail isn't my cup of tea. I run and hop, evading the tree stamps on the way. I almost stagger and roll on the ground. His voice echoes into the woods. He was driving me to a halt and surrender.
I wanted to yell for his name to make it easy for me to discover him. I look up at the sky, the lights lighting up my eyes. I saw something moving ahead with incredible speed. I stopped in my tracks, attempting to have a great view, when he pushed me to the ground. I groaned in torment when he grabbed my arms and put them behind me. I tried to pry away from his grip, but he grabbed my head and stuck them down, making it difficult to breathe.
“I told you you’re not allowed here.” I heard chimes of handcuffs.
“P-please…let go of me, I’m begging you.”
He was deafening with I argued. A tear escaped and strolled down on my cheeks. I closed my eyes, letting the cold wind brush on my skin. The sun shone brightly on my flesh. Possibly, I shouldn’t seek him any longer. He left me for a reason. He would come back for me if he indeed had something about me. But he didn’t, and I waited for days up to a month. I was abruptly struck by common sense. I wanted to harm myself since I’m continuously expecting from him, even if it’s inconceivable. I should stop being delusional.
“Let’s go-”
A boisterous constrain suddenly came out of nowhere, and before I could comprehend what happened, he was now not on my back. I turned around, glancing everywhere when I saw Allen on the tree. He’s injured and weakened. He slid down to the ground. A path of blood was seen on the trunk. My eyes increment, looking around. I know he’s here, but I need to stop him since he can’t be seen!
“Ethan…” I breathed out his name, and I couldn’t search for him. I gaze at Allen’s side. He’s unconscious. I was about to run to him when somebody hopped from the atmosphere. I winced and took a step back. His towering figure made me look up to him until my neck was perplexed. His confront is turned away from me as he strolled towards Allen’s way. I was still staggered, incapable of talking and moving for what was happening when he attacked Allen. That’s when I touch back to reality.
“ETHAN!” I ran up to him and embraced him behind. He’s yelling with unadulterated seethe. His eyes flared as he attempted to thrust me away to induce to Allen’s side.
“Ethan! Stop!” I turned around to face him; he was out of his control. His face is turning into a wolf form. He needs to calm down before Allen wakes up from the loud noise!
“Ethan! Please! I’m asking you! You need to calm down! I will never forgive you if you don’t stop right now and get us out of here!” I shouted so boisterously that my voice broke at the end.
I hugged him so tight, and my head rested on his heartbeat. I begged and didn’t let go of him. My endless tears streamed down my cheeks. I just wanted him to calm down and talk to me. I don’t want to risk his life. If he touches Allen, he’s a lump of dead meat. They might go hunt for him for the rest of his life. I felt a hand caressing my head. That’s when I recognize that everything is serene now. I slowly look up at him. Our eyes lock for a moment. I can sense the longing in them.
He didn’t say anything. He embraces me, and we fly into the air, running away together.
