“Sorry about that Don Pedro.” Lucio said as he walked back to the dining table.

“Is there a problem Lucio?” Don Pedro asked furrowing his brows at Lucio, he hoped his child is not backing out, Lucio doesn't know that Don Pedro have some how discovered that he had planned to steal from him, and guessed his intension towards marrying her daughter to his son.

“No there's no problem Don Pedro, it's just a ladies thing, you know how they are.” Lucio said smiling at him, and they all laughed at the same time, including Alfredo.

The sound of their laughter filled Lora’s ears, making her blood boil. “How can they talk about her and laugh as if she were just an object.” She thought. She had this feeling that she is the reason for their laughter.

She tried to cover her ears but the sound of their laughter still resounded in her ears that she could no longer take it, besides she is no longer the Lora people would toll with, she thought and with this she stood up from the floor and left her room in rage.

“I will not marry your son, Don Pedro.” Lora shouted, her voice filled with rage, the sound of her voice startled the three men, who turned to look at her in surprise, Alfredo himself is extremely shocked because he had known Lora before now, and he is baffled as to where she got this confidence from.

“What did you say young lady?” Lucio asked, his voice too was filled with anger, he cannot take his daughter ruining his plans.

“I said, I will not marry Alfredo Papa.” Lora repeated, her eyes burning with rage.

“Why don't you want to marry my son, you don't even know him.” Don Pedro said rather calmly, gazing steadily at Lora.

“Yes, why don't you take some time to know the man, I am sure you will like him.” Lucio added, looking at his daughter, who just smiled at them sarcastically.

“Trust me, I know Alfredo, I know him every well.” Lora said, and the both men turned to look at Alfredo who now furrowed his brows at Lora because he did not want the others to know about their fake relationship.

“What do you mean by that?” Lucio asked, looking from Lora to Alfredo, that's when he recalled the name of the boy he was once told that Lora is seeing when she was in school.

“Oh, I see...” Lucio said, now nodding his head.

“Now you see what, can someone tell me what is going on here?” Don Pedro demanded.

“Alfredo used to be my boyfriend you see, but we broke up or better still, he was using me to fulfill his selfish desire, and while I was being stupid for him, he was busy banging my best friend.” Lora explained.

“Now that's what happened Don Pedro.” Lora snapped, turning her burning gaze from Alfredo to Don Pedro.

Lucio folded his arms, bewildered, this sure is going to ruin his plans. “Lora princess, why don't you calm down, maybe it’s just a mistake.” Lucio said trying to step in.

“It’s no Mistake Papa, he told me clearly that he does not love me, what happened to Catalina, your one true love?” Lora asked, turning from her dad to face Alfredo, who just stood there speechless and angry at the same time.

He had been humiliated by this good for nothing girl Lora, he had agreed to marry her because of his dad, and he was betraying Catalina, because his dad told him he would be getting married soon to his business partners daughter, little did he know that it would be Lora.

He had like her new look anyways and has resolved in his heart to go on with the marriage even though it was going to use her but he did not expect to be humiliated this way.

“Why don't you two start afresh.” Don Pedro suggested, still looking at Lora, he knew his son would do as he says, but he can't speak for this girl, and he is beginning to dislike her attitude, she may not be useful to him like he thought, he said inwardly, giving the stubbornness he's seeing in her.

“No Don Pedro, that would never happen." Lora said, as she squeezed her clothes with both hands on each side, trying to hold back the rage she feels inside.

Don Pedro grinned at her, he has never been countered like this before and he would not let this little girl disrespect him.

“Lucio, I think we have to leave now as this engagement is not going to hold.” Don Pedro said to Lucio, who clearly does not know what to say or do next.

“Ah... Don Pedro, this can be fixed...” Lucio said, but Don Pedro would no longer listen, he walked out on him in rage followed by Alfredo, who just sneered at Lora.

“Don't even think of bringing that good for nothing boy to this house, Michael or whatever his name is.” Lucio said turning to Lora, before he walked out of the dinning room as well in anger, he could not believe that his plans have been shattered again.

Lora heaved a sigh of relief and sat down on a chair beside the dining table, feeling nervous all of a sudden, she can't tell where she got the strength to do what she just did.
