Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Miguel barely winked his eyes to sleep throughout the night, he had been restless sitting out there in the lobby with no positive news about Camilla.

He constantly stood up and paced up and down the lobby feeling very frustrated, He had asked a nurse if he could at least see Camilla but he was told its not time for her to receive any visitors.

Finally at the early hours of the morning a nurse took pity on him and decided she would allow him to see her through the window of the room where she is lying, “that's what I can do for you” the nurse had said to Miguel, then he thanked and followed the nurse to the room where they have moved Camilla.

Miguel’s heart almost dropped when he saw the state Camilla was in when he saw her through the window, she was lying lifeless and almost unrecognizable on the hospital bed, he couldn't contain the anger growing inside of him that he ran off past the nurse, into the lobby and then out of the hospital.

While boiling with rage, he recalled the call she had made to him before, telling him of her intention to fight Lucio in other to have her daughter back.

The thought of that name ‘Lucio’ sparked something in him that made him went for his car. He drove out of the hospital in search of the accident scene.

“I need to find out what actually happened to you Camilla.” he muttered as he drove, glancing around him through the car window from time to time so that he would not miss the place where he had been told Camilla had the accident.

A few minutes later, he arrived at the place where Dario had described to him. He slowed down his car and drove slowly from where he started seeing pieces of glasses, then pulled over where it had stopped and came down from his car.

He switched on the touch light on his cell phone as everywhere around the area was dark. He glanced at his wrist watch to see that it was just 3am in the morning. He carefully observed the environment to make sure he is alone, and then followed the prints on the ground to where Camilla’s car had crashed.

He also saw more pieces of broken glasses scattered around the area and traces of blood which is most definitely Camilla’s blood.

Miguel closed his eyes as he imagined the accident, after seeing the position of the car and how damaged it was, he came to a conclusion that she must have been driving on a very high speed. “Why was she driving in such a high speed?” he asked himself, and then looked around the area again, still wondering what it was.

“Could it be because she was in a hurry to catch the next available flight or was she being chased by someone? He asked himself again, not sure of what to think at the moment. He tightened his jaw muscles, still glancing around the place of the accident. Camilla was not known to be reckless at driving, Miguel thought as he tried to recall how she used to drive, he was the one who was known to drive recklessly sometimes and Camilla always warned him about it.

“Yes, that must be the case, maybe she was being chased.” Miguel thought because Camilla was not known to be that reckless.

He then remembered the phone call she made to him again, she sounded so furious. “Could that be the reason for the accident?” He thought, also remembering that Camilla can also be too emotional when it comes to her daughter.

He stood there for a while, feeling frustrated and confused with what might have been the real cause of her accident, slowly, he bent down and started weeping. “I never should have allowed her go on this journey alone." He muttered, biting down his lower lip and wished he could turn back time. If he could, he would have insisted on coming with her even though he would not go to the funeral with her.

He had asked her if she would like him to accompany her but she had said no. “This is a journey I would like to make on my own.” She had said dismissing his plea to go with her. “If only I had insisted on going with you, Camilla, maybe this wouldn't have happened.” He thought again biting his lower lip.

He stood up and unconsciously creamed into the night, trying to vent out his frustration, he lifted his hands and swept his hair backwards, tears still falling down from his eyes as he recalled how he had seen Camilla a while ago in the hospital.

He brought out his cell phone afterwards, wiping the tears on his cheeks away as he dialed on his phone. He gave someone instructions and description over the phone to Clear up the accident scene, also not to leave traces behind, he also pleaded with the person not to report the accident, he had to act fast just in case this isn't just a mare accident. Thankfully Camilla had a few loyal people here who could do stuff like this, he glanced around him again and then brushed his hair backward with both hands before he walked back to his car and started driving back to the hospital.

He needs to be with Camilla and also he needs to fly her out of this hospital to a place where she would be properly taken care of and also to ensure her safety, until she regains consciousness, because only she can say what really happened to her.
