Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Cookie's standpoint
I stretched on my limbs as I stood on my toes, I was in my room doing my morning exercise, very, very essential. I bent backward, bending my body until my head touched my ankle. Someone knocked on my door that moment, I twisted my body and stood on my hands, my legs far apart. 'Come in,' the door opened slightly, Yolanda stuck her head inside. 'Hi, Lan, what's up?'
'Good morning,' she greeted.
'Morning, butter berry, did you sleep well?'
'Yes…? What are you doing?'
'Stretching,'
'Why?' She asked, sitting on my bed.
'I'm a gymnast, it's important to stretch my bones to every angle,' I said pushing my legs to the right in a way I looked like an upsidedown “L”
'Wow, your body can bend to that extent? It's nice. You look like someone with no bones,'
'Dancing and gymnastics is the one thing my father paid money on, I actually paid attention to. Even when I was forced to music school, I didn't focus at all, but I still know how to sing. If I had paid attention, I would have been a pop star by now.'
'He wanted one of you to be a pop star?'
'Pop-rock star, hard rock, techno, or actress. To him, our fame is his fame, but none of us were interested. I was the only one who chose to be a cheerleader in high school,'
'Do you regret it? Leaving home?'
'Aside from leaving mom and Carolyn, nothing else.'
'Carolyn?'
'My twin sister,'
'You have a twin?' She gasped.
'Not literally,'
'Huh?' I flipped myself to my feet.
'Carolyn is an insane woman who thinks we are twins, she's sweet and listens to everything I say. You get it?'
'Tell me about your past, the fun part about you.' She said cutely. I nodded and twisted my body like I was being wrung. Ursula was the only one I told a few things about my mother and the woman who thinks we are twins. Ursula was the only one who needs to know about my past.
'Let's do this another time,' I grunted. 'I'm busy.'
'I was wondering if you want to go for target practice with me,'
'You shoot guns at your age?' I asked quizzically.
'Self-defense, my dad's a criminal.' Good point.
'Wow,' I breathe. 'Just wow,' I mean, what other thing than wow can I say?
'So, will you come?'
'Give me ten minutes to go wash up and slip into something more durable,' she nodded.
~~~
I dropped the bag on the ground, still looking around the room, some men were shooting at the target dummies and that includes Yolanda's dad. My stomach turned a little, I glared at it and focused my attention on another guy, wow, he's hot. 'I'm here,' Yolanda said with a chirpy voice.
'You are late,' her dad said calmly.
'I was busy dragging Vee along,'
'I can swear we agreed that you will keep that thing away from me,' he said with an unusual calmness as he fired at the targets with eyes blindfolded.
'Like the thing wants to be around your ugly hopeless self,' I scoffed silently. Damn it! He heard me because he turned the gun to my direction and fired. I watched the bullet fly towards my head in slow motion. Call it crazy, but sometimes, my eyes and mind do that, zone in on things and play it in slow motion. As crazy as it may sound, it has been like that since I was a baby and that is why I never get hit, like literally, nothing have ever hit me since I turned six. For example; if a ball is coming my way or a golf, I always see it coming, and my reflexes helps me dodge it.
Back to the point, I saw the bullet coming and quickly sidestep in time, but it flew pass my nose, three inches away and hit another guy at my back. I started coughing due to the smoke from the bullet I inhaled. 'Seriously, dad, is that fucking what we agreed on!'
'You see, I'm a lucky star. The first time you tried to shoot me, another idiot took the bullet, same thing now.' I coughed out with a smug grin.
'Someone get him treated, now!' He yelled and then glared at me, his blindfold pulled down. I winked at him, an action that caused him to flare up, again.
'Dad, don't shoot!'
'Take that girl out of here!'
'Maybe you should leave, Vee,'
'Humph, his loss,' I turned around and flounced to the door. I turned around halfway and smirked at him. 'Watch a true queen sashay away, boys, you'll love it.' I gave them a general wink and continued walking away elegantly.
'Breathe, daddy, breathe.' Yolanda laughed.
Ted's standpoint
'I still don't understand why her words piss you off so easily, you are usually in control. What is your headache?' Carlos asked calmly as he flipped through some important files. We were in my office and him doing my job since I was too angry to.
'She is rude, arrogant, egotistical, bossy, too fearless and very, very idiotic!' I yelled as I continued pacing around. 'She dodged my bullet, who does that! I never miss!'
'She's rude, arrogant, egotistical, bossy, too fearless and very, very idiotic,' he repeated. 'That's you describing yourself, not her.'
'Are you trying to say I'm idiotic!'
