Chapter 634: Chapter 634
Jade Spirit lifted her head to look at Emperor Bai Ze.
Emperor Bai Ze shook his head at her. "You, you’re still too reckless. What if the thing you concocted was poison?"
Jade Spirit snorted softly, muttering under her breath while nibbling on a steamed bun, "I am a leaf spirit, only afraid of wind, sunburn, and rain drenching, certainly not any poison. Ordinary poisons lose their toxicity when they fall on my leaves, so I’m not afraid of poison at all."
Upon hearing this, Emperor Bai Ze’s gaze lowered in contemplation, Could she be a naturally born Healing Divine Leaf that isn’t afraid of poison?
That can’t be right—the rules of the world within the Kunlun Mirror are incomplete, Divine Wood wouldn’t be able to survive there, not even a branch.
So why isn’t Jade Spirit afraid of poison?
With this puzzle in mind, Emperor Bai Ze looked up again to see Jade Spirit, who was happily gnawing on a steamed bun, and he couldn’t help but sigh internally.
Jade Spirit had just transformed, and her understanding of herself was limited to being a leaf, oh, and a leaf capable of manipulating vines.
He had checked many times; Jade Spirit was just an ordinary leaf, and he couldn’t see anything special about it, so Jade Spirit knew even less.
Emperor Bai Ze gently shook his head, thinking: This leaf spirit he had picked up was entirely different from other elves—naïve indeed, but also greedy, playful, and competitive, nothing like the carefree spirits living in the natural world.
As he was reflecting, Jade Spirit passed a cup of water to Emperor Bai Ze.
"Great Emperor, have some water, be careful not to choke on the steamed bun," she said.
Emperor Bai Ze came back to his senses, took the water, and had a sip, then suddenly frowned, feeling that this water was different from the water in the mortal world—clear and sweet, it was fine sweet wine.
The water in the mortal world was mostly impure and wouldn’t be this clean.
Emperor Bai Ze asked, "Where did this water come from?"
Jade Spirit said as if it was the most natural thing, "It’s the morning dew produced by my body!"
Jade Spirit nodded. "Great Emperor, have you forgotten? I am a leaf spirit, after all. My true form is a giant leaf. At night, I transform back into my true form and rest in the woods, gathering rain and dew created by nature.
All these raindrops and dewdrops are the boundless waters. The Peony Fairy told me that the droplets produced by my body are the best for brewing wine."
Emperor Bai Ze coughed a few times, put down the cup of water, and, with a slightly evasive look, covered up by saying, "Yes, it’s quite good."
Rain and dew produced by her body... didn’t that mean he had drunk water that had been nourished by Jade Spirit’s body?
Emperor Qingmu, with his age unknown, suddenly felt a bit embarrassed inside.
"Cut! Great!" Director Liu called out, nodding with satisfaction. After doing two practice takes, the final take was shot with real effort and yielded an unexpectedly pleasant result.
Taking advantage of the momentum, the crew moved to another location, and the next scene was set outside a wooden house.
This shot was very easy to film; it only required a few actions. After He Jinxia practiced a few times and felt it was okay, she made a gesture towards the director.
As soon as the clapperboard sounded, He Jinxia began to wiggle her little feet back and forth in the clear lake water, controlling her movements. As a leaf spirit, she didn’t have the concept of daily baths like mortals, but she embraced water and all aspects of nature.
Outside the cabin was a small river, whose waters were so clean that Yu Yin couldn’t resist the idea of frolicking in them.
Back when she was a leaf spirit, she would manipulate the vines to extend and carry leaves down to the water’s depths, washing her body. Now that she had turned into a human form, she could no longer do that...
Yu Yin’s eyes flickered as she came up with a good idea, mimicking humans by dangling her feet in the water and giving them a shake.
As she swayed them back and forth, she suddenly furrowed her brows, turned her head sharply toward a particular spot, and called out firmly, "Who’s there!"
Yu Yin quickly stood and started running outside. At that moment, a timely "Cut!" from Director Liu rang out.
The scene shifted. With mana, Yu Yin conjured a whip in her hand and was lured into the dense woods. Whenever she spotted a clue and lashed out with her whip, the repellent presence would vanish, only to re-emerge somewhere else.
Just as Yu Yin was about to be drawn deeper into the forest, where monsters sealed in the Mirror World lurked, Bai Ze appeared just in time, dangling from wires in the air, and landed in front of Yu Yin with the graceful and dashing aura of an immortal, speaking lightly:
"You can’t go any further."
Yu Yin’s brows twisted as she grasped the whip tightly, "I feel a cold, revolting presence. Do you know what it is?"
Bai Ze turned away, his back facing Yu Yin, and uttered a word nonchalantly: "Demon."
After confirming that this take had no issues, Director Liu, noting the time was getting late, announced, "That’s a wrap!"
The filming of that scene took about half an hour. To design an entrance that made Bai Ze look like a celestial being, the film crew’s art and martial arts instructors had come up with five different actions.
Director Liu filmed each action once, and not every action went smoothly; considering the actor’s impromptu reactions and the wirework experts was necessary.
The wires attached to the actors had to be controlled carefully, regarding both angle and strength, to ensure Qiu Zhenze landed just right beside Yu Yin. Landing too forward or too backward would not do. It took several tries before the wirework masters got the hang of both the force and the angle.
He Jinxia changed out of her costume and makeup and didn’t get back to the hotel until after nine o’clock. By the time she had taken her bath and settled down, the clock pointed to the "10."
After a whole day of shooting, she was exhausted. She could already imagine maintaining this state till the end of the film shoot.
He Jinxia reasoned that this high-intensity work would not lead to insomnia. She was sure that a few more days on set would develop her habit of falling asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Because she had a cold and didn’t want to overwork herself, He Jinxia had no plans to exercise while she was sick.
Following routine, she exchanged a few messages with Sheng Yan, updating each other on their circumstances before He Jinxia prepared to sleep.
Not long after lying in bed, her phone vibrated. He Jinxia picked it up and saw it was a call from Meng Wan, which she immediately answered.
Meng Wan’s voice lacked its usual youthful liveliness and was full of hesitation and uncertainty, "Jinxia, do you think I did something wrong?"
After a moment’s thought, He Jinxia, her voice hoarse, asked, "Do you regret helping me oust Wen Ningning?"
Meng Wan: "No, I never thought that. Given Wen Ningning’s personality, she was simply not cut out for JY girl group. It’s better for everyone that she left, but..."
Meng Wan had her own considerations when she decided to help He Jinxia and to assist in Wen Ningning’s departure. The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the NovєlFіre.net
The whole girl group knew about Wen Ningning’s habit of going out to play, and many members were worried that it might become a liability for the team. They had advised Wen Ningning several times, but she would agree on the surface and then continue to sneak out, showing no signs of reform.
