Chapter 948: Chapter 948
The assassin bees darkened the skies, numbering over a million, and swarmed toward the group like a torrential downpour.
"It's over. We're definitely dead this time." At this moment, everyone was ashen-faced, devoid of hope.
But just then, a beautiful melody blown on a leaf flute floated through the air.
Lin Chen held the leaf flute in his hand, his expression calm as he played a serene tune.
This tune was, of course, no ordinary music but the sound of "bee language" that Xiaoshuai had just taught him.
Lan Xingyue and the others were at a loss for words. At a time , Lin Chen still had the composure to play the leaf flute.
To everyone's astonishment, however, accompanied by the gentle sound of the leaf flute, the swarm of assassin bees suddenly stopped their dive, circled in the air a few times, and then flew away.
"What?!" Everyone was both shocked and overjoyed.
"Lin Chen, you're incredible! How did you do that?" Wang Zixuan exclaimed excitedly.
Lin Chen smiled faintly. "This leaf flute can establish a connection with the queen of the assassin bees, allowing them to follow my command."
"That's absolutely amazing," An Xiaodi exclaimed with excitement.
Though she could communicate with certain intelligent creatures, she was completely powerless against such killer bees.
On the other side of the jungle, an old man suddenly emerged from the ground.
"Mr. Haan, by now, that group must have been stung into a sieve by the assassin bees. You can send your men to collect the corpses," Burton said coldly.
Haan laughed heartily. "Mr. Burton, your beast control technique is truly unmatched in the world. Meeting you is an absolute nightmare for these Chinese."
"Exactly, exactly. To be stung to death by millions of venomous bees—ha, that scene must have been spectacularly gruesome," Ge Lei sneered coldly.
"Alright, Ge Lei, take some people over to retrieve the bodies. And remember to recover the items we lost," Haan said with a chilling smile.
"Yes!" Ge Lei laughed loudly and led the Red Scarf Army soldiers back into the jungle.
However, when they arrived at the spot where Lin Chen's group had just been, they froze in place. Everywhere they looked, there were no corpses as Burton had claimed.
Ge Lei's face darkened. How could this be? Just a moment ago, he had seen the overwhelming swarm of assassin bees through his binoculars.
No matter how capable those people were, there was no way they could have escaped from within that swarm.
Suddenly, a melodious leaf flute sound echoed through the jungle, its notes gentle and hauntingly beautiful.
"What is that sound?" Ge Lei's expression immediately changed.
"Mr. Ge Lei, the sound is coming from that direction," a Red Scarf Army subordinate reported.
"Damn it! It must be those Chinese! Get them!" Ge Lei sneered, waved his hand, and led two hundred Red Scarf Army soldiers toward where the sound of the flute was emanating from.
Just at that moment, a faint buzzing sound came from above.
At first, no one paid much attention, but the sound grew louder and louder until Ge Lei finally looked skyward.
A massive black cloud loomed in the sky, and the buzzing sound was emanating from that dark mass.
"It's venomous bees!"
A soldier of the Red Scarf Army turned pale as a sheet and bolted.
But it was too late. The swarm of bees descended like streaks of black and yellow lightning.
"Damn it! Didn't Burton say these bees are under his control? Why are they ambushing us here?" Ge Lei's face also turned ashen as he saw the descending swarm.
Soon, the venomous bees attacked the Red Scarf Army soldiers.
The soldiers screamed in agony, howling incessantly as they fired their guns aimlessly into the sky.
But against millions of bees, all of these efforts were futile.
Soldiers frantically slapped and swatted at the bees clinging to their bodies, but there were simply too many. For every bee killed, even more swarmed in.
Within moments, their bodies were entirely covered with the venomous bees.
The venom of these bees was so potent that two or three stings could be fatal. Being stung by such a massive swarm is unimaginable.
Some continued to struggle desperately, while others, unable to endure the pain, raised their guns to their heads and pulled the trigger.
One by one, the Red Scarf Army soldiers fell to the ground, their bodies swarming with assassin bees. The insects crawled over the corpses, searching for gaps as if determined to draw out every last drop of blood and essence.
Not far away, Lin Chen and his companions watched the horrifying scene, chills running down their spines.
If not for Lin Chen's ability to control the bees with his leaf flute, the suffering now borne by the Red Scarf Army would have fallen upon them.
It was a grim and merciless massacre. The Red Scarf Army soldiers no longer had even the slightest ability to resist and collapsed to the ground in pain one by one.
"Let's go," Lin Chen sighed and said.
The scene was too bloody, too cruel. But that is the nature of war—brutal and unforgiving. If you show mercy to your enemies, you will pay with your life.
Lin Chen and his companions quickly disappeared into the jungle, heading toward the secret realm.
The jungle soon returned to an eerie calm. The venomous bees, having completed their mission, rose into the sky and vanished into the wilderness.
All two hundred-plus Red Scarf Army soldiers lay grotesque and lifeless on the ground, frozen in expressions of fear, pain, and despair.
Suddenly, the pile of corpses jerked slightly, and a bloated man crawled out from beneath them. This obese man, covered in swollen welts and looking like an overinflated balloon, was none other than Ge Lei.
It turned out that, seeing the tide turn, Ge Lei had hidden himself beneath several corpses and narrowly escaped death.
He staggered to his feet and shakily dialed a number. "Boss, we've been ambushed. The venomous bees attacked us. Everyone... everyone's dead."
After these words, Ge Lei swayed and collapsed onto the ground.
Half an hour later, Haan arrived at the scene with a squad of Red Scarf Army soldiers.
Surveying the field of corpses, Haan's face was ice-cold as he glared at Burton. "Mr. Burton, can you give me a reasonable explanation for this?"
Burton's face was equally grim as he stared at the lifeless bodies around him.
"Impossible! Those people had been marked by my Five-Spice Powder. The bees should have attacked them! How could they have ambushed us instead?" Burton said, his face a mask of disbelief.
At this moment, Ge Lei, after being injected with an antidote, woke up. His face was still pale with fear.
"Those bees... they're demons. Absolutely terrifying. Too terrifying," Ge Lei stammered, still trembling.
"What exactly happened?" Burton grabbed Ge Lei by the collar, demanding answers with fury.
"What happened? I should be asking you that! Weren't the bees supposed to attack those Chinese? Why did they target us instead?" Ge Lei roared in reply.
"There must be a beast control expert among them," Burton frowned and speculated.
Suddenly, Ge Lei seemed to recall something. "I remember now! Before the bees appeared, there was the sound of a leaf flute coming from the jungle."
"A leaf flute? Could it be that one of them knows the legendary bee language?" Burton's face changed dramatically as he heard Ge Lei's words.
