Lin Chen signaled to Xu Jiayi with his eyes, and she understood him perfectly.

"Oh my! Boss, why haven't you visited for so many days? I've missed you," Xu Jiayi cooed.

Lin Chen, used to seeing Xu Jiayi speak in a straightforward manner, nearly burst into laughter at her current demeanor.

Lin Chen picked up a pair of scissors and snipped off the button.

Emon took the button and handed it to a disheveled woman outside.

It was only then that Emon spoke gravely, "I have bad news. The entire military department has been overwhelmed, and all the top ranks are involved in this project."

"How could this happen?" Xu Jiayi felt disbelief hearing Emon's words.

Lin Chen and Xu Jiayi both strongly agreed with Emon's idea.

"Today someone from the Dark Alliance contacted me, wanting to join forces with us to thwart the Heitung Sect's plan of producing the Stone of Life," Lin Chen said seriously.

"The Dark Alliance, can they be trusted?" Emon asked.

Lin Chen nodded, "They can be trusted, and we also have another force we can utilize."

"Which force?" Emon questioned, puzzled.

Since the current military department controlled the entire army, they too needed to find a force to counteract them.

"Do you remember the eradicated poison village? Some of the people escaped, and now they are seeking revenge against General Luo De!" Lin Chen chuckled.

The footsteps grew closer, and Emon and Xu Jiayi scrambled into a secret passage.

In General's office, Luo De listened to the gunshots outside and frowned.

At this point, an adjutant ran in, "General, a group of thugs tried to storm the prison but we've driven them off."

Luo De nodded, "Good, I know. These guys are too insolent. Order the army to act immediately, we must not spare a single one."

The adjutant nodded and left.

Luo De's gaze, however, turned icy.

From behind the screen, the man styled as Matt reappeared, and Luo De said coldly, "It seems Emon just won't change his ways!"

"Hmph, we should've just killed him back then," Baro said coldly.

Luo De snorted, "Actually, I'm not too worried about Emon. He can't stir up much trouble. It's the Dark Alliance I'm concerned about. If I'm right, they'd definitely join forces with them. This is the best chance to nab them all at once."
