When Duo Ya mentioned his father's position, his face clearly showed a smug expression.

Wei Ling smiled politely, "Hello, Uncle Duo Kun."

Duo Kun looked at Wei Ling with a beaming smile, "Hello, you are quite beautiful. Are you married?"

Wei Ling smiled shyly, "Uncle, I'm not married yet."

"Not married, that's good, that's good." Duo Kun sized up Wei Ling with an expression that seemed as if he was examining a potential daughter-in-law.

Excitement radiated from Duo Ya's face; obviously, his father had taken a liking to Wei Ling.

Now things were different. His father had just been promoted to Commissioner of the North City Police Station, and he was a returned scholar with a doctoral degree. He felt that he was now completely worthy of Wei Ling.

"Wei Ling, do you know? Of all our classmates, after graduation, you were the only one I couldn't stop thinking about," Duo Ya said with a smile.

Wei Ling laughed awkwardly, "Is that so?"

"Ling Sister, let's order quickly. I'm so hungry my stomach is about to cave in," Lin Chen grumbled.

Already famished, and now faced with this father and son's endless chatter, Lin Chen was feeling extremely frustrated.

Lin Chen was taken aback and laughed, "Where did you get the idea that I'm a farmer?"

Duo Ya said, "Firstly, it's your clothes. Your outfit looks like it comes from a street stall, so it must not be worth much. Secondly, your hands. Your hands are full of calluses which show you've done a lot of farm work."

Listening to Duo Ya's analysis, Lin Chen chuckled, "Well, you're quite right in what you say."

"Of course, I am. I graduated from Dulun University, I'm a psychology major who returned from abroad with a doctorate. As soon as I came back to the country, I was directly recruited by the police department. Now, I am already an assistant police chief," Duo Ya said with an arrogant expression.

Being an assistant police chief in your twenties is indeed an impressive feat, but for Lin Chen, it was not much of a concern.

Duo Ya smiled at Duo Kun, "Dad, isn't the police station recently hiring some cleaners? Why not let Wei Ling's friend do it? It's still better than manual labor."

On the surface, Duo Ya seemed to be giving Wei Ling face, helping her friend find a job, but in fact, it was a blatant mockery of Lin Chen.

Lin Chen naturally heard the insinuation in Duo Ya's words and replied lightly with a smile, "Thanks, but I'm not looking for work right now."

A smirk appeared on Duo Ya's face, as if looking at Lin Chen who had never had the chance to eat fine food. Laughing, he said, "Order whatever you want. It's on me today."

With that, Lin Chen summoned the waiter, flipping directly to the last page of the menu: "This one, this one, I'll have a plate of each."

Duo Ya caught a glimpse and his complexion changed slightly, knowing that the dishes Lin Chen had ordered were the most expensive ones on the menu.

After all, he had already made the offer, so it would be embarrassing to back out of it now.

Looking at the dishes Lin Chen ordered, the father and son's faces turned ashen, but in order to maintain their facade, Duo Ya endured it.

After answering, it turned out to be Qima calling.

"Hello, beauty. What made you think of me?" Lin Chen asked with a smile.

"Lin Chen, where are you? I need to find you for something urgent," Qima said somewhat anxiously.

"Oh, I'm at the Hua Xia restaurant, just eating," Lin Chen replied.

Qima hurriedly said, "I happen to be nearby. I'll come to you."

"Okay, come quick. I've just ordered lots of good food!" Lin Chen said with a laugh.

Hearing that Lin Chen was not only eating himself but also inviting friends to join, Duo Ya felt displeased, "Sir, I hope you don't invite those lowly friends over. They might affect my appetite."

Lin Chen nearly choked on his food at Duo Ya's words. To think that the police chief of the city was being referred to as a lowly friend!
