Chapter 1704: Chapter 1704

The little bird is fine, and the two children specifically went to ask the cooking aunt for some grain and placed it in front of the bird, hoping it would eat.

Li Yifei has confirmed that this is a brightly feathered Kingfisher; whether it’s a rare species is unknown. Seeing the compassion shown by his two daughters, Li Yifei and the women who rushed over after hearing the news were very gratified.

For his own children, Li Yifei doesn’t demand great achievements in their studies or show extraordinary talents in business or other areas. As long as they can grow up healthily and happily, have necessary qualities, and become kind people with principles, that’s enough.

He hasn’t been much involved in their upbringing; the credit belongs to their mother Ning Xin’er and Ye Yunzhu. These two mothers are tremendous, and what Li Yifei can do is reward his two wives with long kisses and hugs.

After finding out why the bird got injured, the children took out the gum from their snacks and returned it to their mom, saying, "Mom, I won’t eat gum anymore; they hurt the bird."

Ye Yunzhu held the gum and returned it, stroking her daughter’s head, saying, "Good girl, it’s not your fault. As long as you wrap the gum in paper after each chew and throw it in the trash can, it’ll be okay."

"Indeed, my sister and I do that, but why did the bird still get injured? If it weren’t for Dad helping, the bird might have died." Li Yufei turned to Ye Yunzhu mom, puzzled, and asked.

Ye Yunzhu explained, "It’s those who spit out gum on the ground without a care. Their actions are wrong. It’s not just birds; small animals that have never eaten gum might accidentally eat it, which leads to indigestion."

"These people are really terrible!" Li Yixiang said, clenching her fists with some anger.

Seeing her daughter angry, Ye Yunzhu didn’t encourage her but said, "These people aren’t terrible; it’s just uncivilized behavior. You two should avoid doing it. If you see other kids doing it, what will you do?"

"We will..." The two daughters started speaking simultaneously but quickly stopped, looked at each other, hesitated, and Li Yufei said, "We would stop them, but what if they don’t listen?"

Ye Yunzhu smiled, tapping her fingers on her daughters’ foreheads, saying, "Use your little minds to figure out how to discourage uncivilized acts without clashing with others. It’s okay if you don’t understand now; think about it gradually, alright?"

Li Yufei and Li Yixiang held hands, nodding vigorously at Ye Yunzhu mom. Two seeds of kindness have unknowingly been planted, and what kind of flowers they will bloom into in the future is a matter for the future.

As a father, Li Yifei watched from the side, very satisfied with Ye Yunzhu’s method of education. What about his method? Li Yifei went to the kitchen asking for several small fish, put them in a basin, and placed them in front of the bird. The Kingfisher, which had narrowly escaped death, seemed to regain its spirit upon seeing the small fish in the water basin. It stirred itself, jumped to the edge of the basin, stretched its little head down, swaying and shaking, trying several times before finally catching a small fish.

At this moment, the younger daughter ran over, crouched by the water basin, and asked a question that Li Yifei couldn’t answer for a long time. She said, "Daddy, we saved the bird, but the little fish got eaten, which means it’s dead. Shouldn’t we save the little fish?"

This... Li Yifei’s mouth unconsciously opened a little, somewhat speechless, as he didn’t know how to confront this question. Buddhist texts have a story, where Shakyamuni once went out and encountered a hungry old Hawk chasing a poor pigeon.

The pigeon said to the Hawk, "Please spare me! You are hunting, so even if you miss me, you have the next. I am fleeing for my life, and I only have this one!"

The Hawk said, "I know the truth you speak of, but now I’m extremely hungry. Without eating you, I can’t survive. It’s not easy for everyone to live in this world; if not pushed to the brink, I wouldn’t be chasing so relentlessly."

Upon hearing this, Shakyamuni was moved with compassion, took the pigeon in hand, and hid it in his bosom.

The Hawk was furious and argued with Shakyamuni, saying, "Shakyamuni, you are compassionate, saving the pigeon’s life, but can you bear to let me, the Hawk, starve to death?"

Shakyamuni said, "I can’t bear to let you harm the innocent pigeon, nor do I want you to starve for nothing. As the saying goes, ’If I do not enter hell, who will enter hell?’"

Then Shakyamuni took out a scale, placing the pigeon on one side and the flesh he had cut from himself on the other side.

The pigeon appeared small, but no matter how Shakyamuni cut or how much flesh was cut off, it seemed impossible to lift the pigeon’s weight. Eventually, Shakyamuni cut off all his flesh to feed the Hawk, thus saving the pigeon.

The story is not difficult to understand, and Li Yifei thought about it, ultimately not telling his daughter the story, fearing the young daughter would be influenced by it.

"A family that accumulates good deeds will have its blessings," Li family has done well in recent years, treating enemies harshly and without mercy, using thunderous tactics. But towards those who bear no grievances or hatred, they have always been tolerant,

Leaving aside Li Yifei himself, the women of the family can certainly be described as kind. Not to mention from afar—just the donation Li Yifei made all at once a few days ago was suggested by the women.

Today’s matter gave Li Yifei an idea, why not use the child’s name to create a foundation or even a small organization to help injured or stray animals, not just limit it to pets.

Li Yifei took countless lives in the first half of his life, but this didn’t affect his kindness; he always held benevolence in his heart.

Watching the little bird jump onto his daughter’s hand after eating, Li Yixiang was both afraid and happy, her big eyes gleaming as she looked at the bird.

"Daddy is telling you, when the bird has healed, it will fly away. By then, you mustn’t cry." Li Yifei squatted nearby and said softly.

Li Yixiang looked up at him, blinked her eyes, pouted her little lips, then said after a few seconds, "Dad, I just want the bird to fly away. If it can fly, it means it is healthy. Why would I cry?"

Well... Li Yifei counted the seconds and then nodded vigorously, saying, "That’s right. Then let’s agree on that."

Li Yufei hopped over, hearing their conversation, and joined in, "I think the same way."

"Okay, okay, both my precious ones are smart!" Li Yifei pulled his two daughters into his arms and said with gratification in his heart, thinking, "It’s just dad being silly, worrying for nothing." ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹•𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑒•𝙣𝙚𝙩

The two daughters giggled, truly very happy.

Ye Yunzhu stood not far away watching the scene of the three father and daughters and grinned widely in happiness.
