Chapter 1652: Chapter 1652
If the sound of gunfire came from within the rainforest, the two of them wouldn’t be so surprised. But the key is... this is the mysterious valley protected by the Formation Method, so how could there be gunfire?
Li Yifei frowned as he looked towards the forest where the monkeys were. He was sure he wasn’t mistaken; those were definitely gunshots and the sound of a machine gun, the rapid da-da-da of bullets pouring out, creating a huge echo in the valley.
The two had struggled hard to break through the formation, but how did those people get in?
The sound of gunfire was getting closer and louder. At the same time, the big monkey began to flee desperately, making a crashing noise through the forest. In no time, the big monkey stumbled into the small valley, or rather prison, not stopping naturally but rolling and sliding on the ground before coming to a stop.
It could be seen that two places on its body were still bleeding, one on its hip and the other on its back. Nevertheless, it still clutched the bird feathers it had obtained earlier, showing how much it liked them.
The rest of the little monkeys also ran out of the forest, each letting out terrified cries. After landing, they rushed over to help the big monkey up, and some noticed Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan, immediately becoming vigilant.
In the small valley, the giant pig and white python still didn’t know what had happened, but they saw the big monkey was injured and looking rather embarrassed, prompting the pig and python to seem very pleased. The giant pig grinned, making a snorting sound as if laughing.
Li Yifei did not laugh; he had no grievances with the big monkey, nor had he been bullied by it or its little followers. In fact, he had even received a favor from the big monkey, having eaten the fruits it had painstakingly collected. So, theoretically, he also had reason to thank the big monkey.
The injuries the big monkey suffered weren’t severe. Despite its thick skin, after lying on the ground for a while, it struggled to get up. Opening its mouth wide towards the ground, it let out a series of cries, somewhat urgent and somewhat angry.
After finishing its yell, the big monkey seemed to notice Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan, its big eyes staring at the two, rolling them around as if understanding now who had sneaked the fruit and polluted their home. It bared its sharp teeth at them, its gaze somewhat unfriendly, letting out two urgent growls.
The little monkeys were also growling. However, as the guns drew nearer, instead of pouncing on Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan, they hesitated upon hearing the gunfire and decided to flee further inside, with several already escaping.
Below, the giant pig and white python seemed to finally understand what was going on. The two creatures started pacing anxiously. Trapped below, they had no way out. If there was danger, they would be like turtles in a jar, almost incapable of any resistance. Especially, the dangerous thing also came with shooting capabilities, allowing it to cause massive destruction from afar.
The big monkey looked back furiously at Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan every few steps, eyeballing the two creatures in the small valley.
After walking out more than ten meters, the big monkey abruptly turned around. Who knows from where it pulled out a small box, striding back to stand tall in front of Li Yifei, extending its hand to present the box to him.
"For me?" Li Yifei pointed at himself.
The big monkey nodded, baring its teeth as it let out a call, slamming the box into Li Yifei’s hand. The big monkey then gestured towards the forest.
Li Yifei understood; this guy was looking to ask for help and wasn’t hesitating to offer something as a bribe. Its intelligence was truly impressive.
But why should he? Li Yifei was about to say something when he noticed the big monkey already backing away. Bullet in the butt, this guy was dragging a line of blood, limping forward.
Seriously, it was enforced on him. Li Yifei rolled his eyes, opened the box, and saw a white round stone inside. It looked like an egg, but upon touching it, it was very hard and icy cold.
Li Yifei handed the box to the curious Xu Shanshan beside him. Xu Shanshan also examined it, closed the box, and asked Li Yifei, "Yifei, do we really have to get involved in this?"
Li Yifei frowned, looking towards the forest. The gunfire was getting closer. He had thought of not interfering, but their purpose in coming here, after all the hardships, was to find Bai Shan. Those with the guns were unknown; if they were also here for Bai Shan, then both sides would inevitably be enemies. Since they were enemies, encountering would mean no chance of survival. With this in mind, Li Yifei said, "Let’s see what these people mean first; if not, we’ll just have to kill them."
"Alright!" Xu Shanshan nodded decisively.
The two waved at the two creatures below in the small valley, also noticing the group of monkeys hiding in the trees across the valley, observing them but not retreating immediately.
Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan found a place to hide the previous box along with this small box.
A few minutes later, a man emerged from the forest, dressed in a military uniform. Li Yifei glanced at him, then whispered to Xu Shanshan, "He’s a Vietnamese soldier."
Xu Shanshan nodded gently, looking at the soldier, who was holding an AK47 with many magazines hanging on his body. He ran out of the forest and was momentarily stunned to see the valley. He ran to the edge of the valley, looked down, and a few seconds later, excitedly shouted back into the forest.
Li Yifei couldn’t understand Vietnamese, so he didn’t know what was being said. Several more people soon rushed out of the forest, dressed similarly, though their guns differed. They carried either machine guns or submachine guns and were hung with magazines, all looking as if they had just finished a battle.
Soon, more than a dozen soldiers emerged. They stood at the edge of the small valley, looking down and seeing the white python and giant pig, they seemed extremely excited, laughing loudly. Some even raised their guns and began to aim.
The giant pig and white python in the small valley probably had never seen a gun in their lives. With gun barrels aimed at them, the two did not dodge but seemingly knew that the guns were dangerous. The white python could crawl back into the cave, but the giant pig could not. It used to be able to, but now its body was too large, not allowing it to go back in, leaving it with nowhere to hide.
Someone opened fire. Bullets hit the ground in front of the giant pig, creating a cloud of dust and causing the pig to let out a cry, jumping several meters away. This action drew loud laughter from the people above.
Xu Shanshan stood next to Li Yifei, whispering, "How about I go around them? We should take action together and get rid of them!"
"No, there are more people. Let’s wait a little longer," Li Yifei shook his head, pointing towards the forest.
Two minutes later, more people came out of the forest. These people differed in build, attire, and even skin color, with Caucasians, Africans, and mostly yellow-skinned people. They were uniformly dressed as Vietnamese soldiers, or rather, they were mercenaries or guerrillas.
They held guns. The Caucasians and Africans were mostly armed as well. A leader-like figure walked to the edge of the small valley, looked down, and upon seeing the giant pig and white python, paused before bursting into laughter. He watched the two enormous creatures below with immense pride, squinting his eyes, and said in English, "Not bad, find a way to capture them and take them out."
"Boss, there’s no rush. They seem trapped inside. We can get them out anytime. But these creatures have terrifying strength. We must be careful."
"Do you think I don’t know that? Did I say to get them out right now?" the boss glared at the underling who reminded him, full of displeasure.
The underling lowered his head and said, "I’m sorry."
The boss squinted, waved his hand, and said, "Alright, split into two teams, a team of ten people to pursue that big monkey; the other team, find those two people and kill them!"
Several subordinates immediately followed orders, shouting in Vietnamese. The group quickly split into two squads, each with about ten armed men, marching forward. They had already spotted the big monkey’s figure and the bloodstains on the ground, making them more confident about catching the big monkey. Updates are released by 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭•𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚•𝕟𝕖𝕥
Hiding in the shadows, Xu Shanshan widened her eyes, pointed at those people, and whispered, "Look, those are our backpacks!"
Li Yifei also saw it. The backpacks that he and Xu Shanshan carried when entering were now on the backs of two Vietnamese soldiers. Their abandoned bags were picked up by these people, which meant the contents had likely been searched. A fierce light flashed in Li Yifei’s eyes. They had stored important items in the city on this trip, but things like phones were still with them, allowing the enemy to easily learn Li Yifei’s information.
Especially since the Caucasian leader’s order was to find and kill the two of them!
Since the enemy wanted to kill them, there was nothing more to say.
Li Yifei patted Xu Shanshan on the shoulder, softly saying, "Let’s first deal with the two squads to reduce their numbers."
Xu Shanshan immediately nodded and followed Li Yifei into the forest.
The Caucasian leader was called Samao. His parents probably liked the Samoyed breed so much that they named their son Samao, which sounded like a dog’s name. Samao had organized more than a hundred people on this adventure. They faced many dangers along the way, from torrential rain to army ants, and encountered risks Li Yifei and Xu Shanshan hadn’t seen, like a group of pythons. This journey was where they suffered the most losses before finally entering the valley.
As soon as they emerged, they encountered the big monkey, which killed two of their men and was also injured.
Seeing the big monkey made Samao very happy. He had brought his team on this adventure to capture such a two-meter-tall big monkey, which was a significant achievement. Upon seeing the more than twenty-meter-long white python and a giant pig the size of an elephant, it was an even greater gain.
So, Samao wore a pleased and proud smile on his face, narrowing his eyes as he drew a cigar, cut off the tip, and had a subordinate light it for him. Samao slowly took a puff, exhaled with satisfaction, and sat by the small valley, waiting for updates from his subordinates.
