Chapter 1551: Chapter 1551
After cracking a few jokes, everyone went back to their tasks, and Peter found Edward Ford’s phone number and sent him a text message: "Edward Ford, I heard that one of your trusted followers is going to betray you."
Having sent the text, Peter once again immersed himself in studying computer knowledge, realizing ever more that this knowledge truly was a powerful tool for him. If used correctly, it would definitely be of help even as he navigated through the business world.
Unconsciously, Peter had grown to lifestyle, hiding in the shadows, watching as events unfolded. It really was interesting.
In fact, Peter’s computer knowledge had now reached the pinnacle. Even the most formidable experts couldn’t possibly memorize and understand all the knowledge he had acquired.
The day passed by quietly and uneventfully, but Peter knew that despite the surface calm, the opposing side’s individuals were probably about to make their move. Who exactly was the one planning to betray Edward Ford?
Peter didn’t receive a reply from Edward Ford, but he knew, deep down, that Edward Ford would not take this matter lightly.
As the work day was coming to an end, Vincent Clinton arrived. He stepped into the office, looked at Reid Nelson with a serious expression, and said, "Reid, you’re coming with me to entertain some guests tonight."
When Peter looked towards Reid Nelson, he saw her helpless expression.
After Vincent Clinton had left, Ivy Cooper glanced at Reid with a smile and said, "Reid, I’m leaving first."
Clicking her high heels and swaying her hips, Ivy left with a small bag in tow, leaving a trail of fragrance behind her.
Reid Nelson sat there in a daze for a while before she stood up.
Dressed in jeans, she looked incredibly attractive, with smooth and flowing lines that made Peter feel agitated every time he saw her figure.
As Reid was about to leave, Peter couldn’t help but say, "Reid, let me know if you need help."
Reid, who was preoccupied with her own thoughts, casually responded without reading too much into Peter’s words.
At that moment, Peter was listening to Christian Greenhill’s phone conversation.
Christian Greenhill was clearly speaking with a senior leader from the headquarters, his tone noticeably respectful, eagerly agreeing with whatever was being said.
After overhearing the conversation, Peter understood that it must have been Mr. Spencer from the headquarters who had called.
Thinking it over, Peter decided he still needed to monitor this Mr. Spencer, thinking that maybe he could find the person planning to betray Edward Ford through him.
"Mr. Spencer, rest assured, everything is arranged. She said some items can only be obtained once Hadley arrives at her place today. As long as we trick him into giving up that thing, we can handle everything once we get it."
"There’s been some public opinion about this matter; you all manage it well on your end. Don’t get me involved. I can only help you out from the shadows. Of course, there shouldn’t be any problem,"
"Thank you, Mr. Spencer, I won’t let you down."
The two spoke for a while before ending the call.
Sitting there, Peter now had a direction in mind. Whoever invites Edward Ford today is very likely to be the betrayer.
At last, it seemed they had found the individual at a crucial time!
Peter couldn’t help but sigh; if he hadn’t found out, maybe tomorrow, perhaps the day after, Edward Ford would have faced a crisis.
So it turns out they still need one key item!
Peter didn’t know what this key item was, but he had done everything he could; the rest was up to Edward Ford.
The car was already started, and all the offices had shut their doors.
Just when Peter Brown thought everyone had left, what he didn’t expect was Edward Ford’s office door was open, and he saw an exhausted-looking Edward Ford come out.
"Peter, go over the situation one more time," Edward Ford said.
After entering the office and looking around, Edward Ford turned to Peter Brown and asked him.
"Mr. Ford, I have a new situation to report to you," Peter Brown replied.
"Go ahead," Edward Ford prompted.
Edward Ford’s eyes lit up as he looked towards Peter Brown.
"I overheard Mr. Graham on the phone by accident today, saying that your trusted follower would extract crucial evidence from you tonight. He was certain you would go to him," Peter Brown revealed.
As soon as Peter Brown finished speaking, Edward Ford’s eyes narrowed, and a murderous aura appeared on his face.
After a while, Edward Ford patted Peter Brown on the shoulder and said, "I was right to place you in the Integrated Office, Peter. I’ll remember this."
Having said that, Edward Ford’s demeanor changed from his previous dejection, and he strode out.
Seeing Edward Ford’s mannerisms made it clear to Peter Brown that Mr. Ford must have had some clue about who had betrayed him.
Fine, he had done all that he could. The next step was up to Mr. Ford. If, with all the information he now had, he still couldn’t resolve those issues and someone else brought him down, then it was his own fault.
Dinner was a request from his uncle to come over to their house to eat.
As soon as Peter Brown walked into the house, Archie Williams grabbed his hand and asked, "What’s the situation, has anything happened at the company?"
Laughing, Peter Brown said, "Uncle, you’re just a worker, at most a supervisor. Why do you care so much about these things?"
Archie Williams sighed and said, "Even though your uncle is considered impressive in the village, in reality, as you’ve seen, I don’t have much education. If it weren’t for taking a knife for Mr. Ford and earning his patronage, my only option would be to return to the village. Now that we’ve moved to County Town, the whole family relies on my income to live. Your cousins are attending school in the county. What will we do if something happens to Mr. Ford?"
"Uncle, rest assured, Mr. Ford will certainly be fine this time," Peter Brown reassured him.
"That’s good, that’s good," his uncle said. "You should also learn more. It wasn’t easy getting you a job in the Integrated Office, a position many people are jealous of. You can’t let Mr. Ford down."
"Don’t worry, Uncle, I know what I’m doing," Peter Brown said with a smile.
A thought crossed Peter Brown’s mind, and he asked, "Uncle, do you know who Mr. Ford’s most trusted followers are?"
"That’s hard to say. I don’t really know. It’s probably just a few people, like his driver and a few construction team captains who often do activities together."
"What about Mr. Carter?" Peter Brown asked, still a bit puzzled.
"Mr. Carter, huh? She probably isn’t one of Mr. Ford’s people. To be precise, she was with the previous manager, who had done favors for Mr. Ford. But now that he’s retired, she might be considered part of Mr. Ford’s camp," his uncle explained.
So that was the case!
Peter Brown also learned a bit more about Reid Nelson’s situation.
"Mr. Carter is a talented woman. She married a man who, I heard, passed away. She doesn’t have a child, but she really is admirable. She still takes care of her late husband’s mother, who has no income of her own, relying on her for support," his uncle lamented, shaking his head.
Was there such a story?
Peter Brown really hadn’t expected Reid Nelson to be such a woman and couldn’t help but feel a measure of respect for her.
