Chapter 41: Chapter 41
There was a spy in the manor of Villars yet it was such a spy that it often got afraid of Kharsan's thunderous emerald irises and stopped her activities for some days and resumed it again after she had regained her spirits.
There was everything accessible in the castle for her except the wing of this 'young master' who often had his lunch and dinner alone. Rue was a good child so she had learned her etiquette well but it was so sad that she could not show it off to the young male since he refused to see her.
Maybe he hated her, the way he avoided her and often passed her without even glancing in her direction was proof enough of his cold indifference.
And she was somewhat aware of his dislike.
But since she did like him, she wanted to try for once to be friends for Rue had never been in the company of children similar in age to hers, due to being exposed to heavy rain just after being born she often had trouble in breathing, it was for years being regulated under the strict observation of the doctor and thus she could not be sent to the school.
She felt lonely when Mikhail did not play with her or Diana was not reading her stories.
Thus she just for this one day had decided to do something daring since neither Mikhail nor Diana would be present at home for some days so Rue got up early and had breakfast but instead of attending her regular classes she pretended to be sick and kept to her room.
It was only in the afternoon that she was left alone for one hour of nap by her personal maids that she got time to sneak to the chambers of Kharsan.
Those who saw her did not mind the fairy jumping from here to there and let her do her own work thus she was able to sneak in the hallway of the prohibited wing yet being trapped in the array of rooms. Different from her own brightly decorated, this place was gray and white with a little golden and black thus instead of the soothing comfort it brought a sense of dread to her.
Strangely, there was not even a single presence in this place which she could ask either direction from,or seek for help...it looked like a deserted lone place...just that she could feel eyes watching her every single movement.
Rue gently pushed open one of the doors to find the room empty, again she tried doing the same with some others yet could not find anything inside except the luxurious furniture, fortunately at last she entered the lair of the person she wished to meet.
Kharsan was not present inside at this moment yet the angel was convinced that her friend lived here for there was a book kept open with markings from a pencil. Azure irises first looked at the fluffy bed and patted it to see how soft and comfy it was before flowing away to book.
Rue then very seriously settled down at the chair and held the book trying to read the tiny complicated words that appeared to her like ants.
She liked ants so when after a long try she could understand nothing she drew those little creatures on the book to make it look beautiful and decorate it for the one with lust green eyes.
Moments of happiness changed to that of fear and terror.
Several loud beeps resonated making the smiling face falter. Before Rue could understand anything a loud crash followed by piercing screams that made her freeze in her movement echoed throughout the mansion making her numb. Complete and utter ink engulfed the mansion, all power sources were turned off and an alone child was left to fend for itself.
Darkness
Ten people were killed, thirty-five were shot and were in critical condition while others were wounded, none could escape the horrifying attack that was said to be planned meticulously by the rival mafia's clans. Such a disgusting conspiracy was created to paint the entire mansion red with the blood of kins and loved ones.
The ground was splashed from the warm fresh blood but Villars still could survive for the enemy had not expected Kharsan to be present, it was all a catastrophe.
"We cannot find the princess...she is nowhere to be found." Hands dripping in vermilion liquid were clenched into fists.
He hated her presence but he did not hate her.
He hated her blood but he did not hate those innocent blues.
He disliked even looking at her yet he did not dislike her looking at him.
He hated a Sylvester but he never hated that child.
In the absolute darkness he must have had checked every nook and cranny of the house for he knew she did not step out, he did not let them reach her room for he feared her seeing such a violence yet there was no one in that soft pale lilac room...not a soul to be found.
He checked the secret chambers, his father's room, their secret room, and at last, he had come here in his own chambers.
"Rue...." Lightning flashed in the sky and there was not a sound to be heard anywhere but he could still hear her presence, that soft fruity childish smell of the soap, he could still see how his book turned to the page filled with cute little doodles.
"Rue....." He whispered but maybe she did not hear for when he kneeled looking down under the bed, there she was.
A child with her eyes tightly shut and small palms covering her ears, tears marred her face as such that it was all blotchy red.
She had cried for hours.
"Rue" Warm palms when held her shoulders, there was a terrified expression that looked heart wrenching, her mouth opened but no screams came out, her arms tried resisting with the feeble strength.
"Its Kharsan Rue.....its me."
No answer.
She was pulled out gently into his arms that engulfed the small angel as she wept so sadly that he could not nothing but embrace her tighter.
"You are safe"
"Don't worry, no one can harm you."
After an hour or more of consoling her in his arms when the little fairy still did not speak Kharsan looked at her.
"Rue?" Her mouth opened but no voices came out.
She had become a mute.
