Chapter 22: Chapter 22

Aurora, who had been out all day, came back home and showered. She prepared herself to go pick up her sister. She hopes along the way, she can meet some generous "clients". She had been out all day but there was no success. The last money she took is almost finished. The wallet she sold also helped a long way. That man must be filthy rich.

It's been two weeks since she last saw Craig. Aurora wondered if she had really lost her only friend. It's sad, though.

That girl at the bar, Jenny, was bent on being friends with Aurora but she always finds excuses to run away. She doesn't want another person to be traumatized for her sake

Aurora said goodbye to her mother who was knitting a sweater for Maya. That woman doesn't rest at all. But she had learned her lesson, Aurora always makes sure her mother drinks the medicinal soup every day.

Aurora walks briskly to Maya's school and saw Jenny waiting for her brother. She looked anxious or was it…fear? What's wrong with her?

"Oh thank God you are here!", Jenny said with a relieved expression. She walked closer to Aurora with a gloomy expression.

"Jenny, are you okay?", Aurora asked.

"I am okay. Tell me something, Aurora, did you offend anyone?", Jenny asked, lowering her voice.

"None that I remembered", Aurora said. But something clicked in her head. Could it be….?

"Really? But the guys that came were so specific. They even knew you took over my shift that day", Jenny said with a frown.

Aurora's heart was pounding. Nemesis had finally caught up with her. It's surely that man she stole the wallet from.

"Jenny, can you tell me everything you know so far?", Aurora asked her.

"A very tall burly man came to the cafe five days back and began questioning everyone including the madam. I really don't know the details but he asked of me and even said the girl that served his boss stole his wallet"

"He mentioned the day of the shooting and how some other girl served their boss and stole his wallet. You know, everyone thought I was the only one who served that table so I was called out. He shook his head when I came around. He said he would be back and if we can't produce you, he would destroy the Cafe", Jenny said looking scared.

"Do you know these people, Jenny?", Aurora asked.

"No, I don't. But I heard they are part of the notorious Mafia gang. Aurora, I don't know if you are guilty or not. I will advise you to find somewhere to hide.

Those mafias aren't the ones to be enemies with. I heard the boss is very ruthless", Jenny said.

"Why are you telling me all this? You could have just ratted me but you chose to warn me, why?", Aurora asked.

"Nothing. I just like you for a friend. Though you are weird sometimes, you are definitely who I want as a friend. It seems you don't like me though", the girl said looking distraught

Aurora became uncomfortable by Jenny's confession but she doesn't want to sound harsh to her.

She might take it the wrong way and expose her. The hearts of humans are very deep. So, Aurora decided to play along till she could find a solution.

"Jenny, thank you so much for the information. But I am really innocent. Maybe the boss just wants to look for trouble ", Aurora said.

"Sister Rora! Sister Jenny!", Maya's voice rang out behind them. She ran straight to her sister and pounced on her. Aurora carried her up before planting a kiss on her cheek.

"How was your day, candy?", Aurora asked her little sister

"It was great. Kelvin and I studied together and also played. Some of the girls were envious of me because Kelvin only plays with me", Maya's eyes sparkled as she explained to her sister.

"Really? Tell me, why they were envious?", Aurora asked. Maya drew closer to her sister and whispered.

"It is because Kelvin is the cutest boy in our class", she said as she stole a glance at Kelvin.

"Oh really?", Aurora chuckled at her sister's words.

"Yes, so the girls are envious and now they are trying to get close to me again so they can also be friends with Kelvin", Maya explained.

"So it means you have made more friends, right?"

"Yes, they are only my friend because of Kelvin. My only true friend is Kelvin", Maya said.

"Just like Craig is my only true friend", Aurora muttered under her breath.

"Are you okay, sis?", Maya asked

"Am fine, Maya. Come, let's go home", Aurora held her sister's hands as they waved goodbye to Jenny and her brother.

**********

Aurora got home with her sister while in deep thought. She was hunted by a notorious Mafia gang. What if she died like her father? How would her mother and sister survive? She doesn't want to get them in trouble. If anything happens to her, her mother would not survive it.

She pondered on what to do. Where can she hide? They had no relatives. Her mother had refused to tell her anything about her family. Where could she go?

"You could go back to the Packhouse, you know", a voice said within.

"Aliya? You came back", Aurora said with a tinge of happiness.

"Yes, I came back. I can't really stay mad at you forever. I am a part of you", Aliya said.

"I am sorry, Aliya, for treating you bad", Aurora said.

"It's okay. No need for apologies. Rora, you need to go back to the packhouse. I am sure that man is very dangerous. You have to leave with your mother and sister", Aliya advised.

"But I hate to go there", she said with disgust.

"Go back there till everything dies down here, then you can come back again", Aliya reasoned.

"I don't want to. I am not going back, Aliya", Aurora said as she shut her wolf out

"Are you talking to Aliya?", Maya asked.

"Yes Maya, I am talking to Aliya", Aurora said.

"I wish I could have my own wolf too, it would be very cool", Maya said dreamily.

Aurora ruffled her sister's hair as she smiled. She looked so cute with those eyes of hers.

Would Aurora really put them in danger?

BLOOD MOON PACK

"Alpha, I have the details of that thief. Her name is Aurora Patterson and she's a notorious pickpocket. She lives in the slum with her mother and sister", Beta Rufus said, dropping a document with her picture.

"Aurora Patterson… find her and bring her here", Alpha Jax said as he stared at the picture.

Alpha Jax looked at the picture again and something tickled in his heart. When he looks at a girl's face, it's like he is being drawn to her. Why is he feeling like that? He quickly shoved that thought to the farthest end of his heart.

"Roger that, Alpha", Beta Rufus said.

"Get the car ready, I will be going over to my uncle's place", Alpha Jax said as he rose from his chair.

Beta Rufus immediately got the Alpha's official car and a few bodyguards ready. There have been some recent movements around the pack and it's quite dangerous for Alpha Jax to move around without protection.

The Alpha and his Beta drove to a nearby mansion. It's located almost at the outskirts of the packhouse. The car stopped at the entrance and honked.

The gate of the mansion flung open to reveal a magnificent sight. The large mansion stood majestically with all its glory. The artifacts on the walls of the building showed the house of royalty. Beautiful edifices hung around the surroundings. The owner of the mansion must be a lover of the arts.

Alpha Jax got out of the car. He strode to the back of the mansion to meet his uncle who was relaxing under a makeshift shelter. He knew he would see his uncle there.

"Uncle Max… what lovely weather it is. Especially for relaxation! You sure know how to enjoy", Alpha Jax teased his uncle.

"Your flattering won't work this time. I gave you enough time, son. Do you want our lineage to go extinct? Your father would be very disappointed", Uncle Max said as he glared at his nephew.

Uncle Max had promised his late brother on his deathbed that he would make sure Jax got married immediately he became the Alpha.

It's been three years now and this nephew of his had refused to look for his mate or just pick a woman to be his Luna.

"Uncle Max, don't worry. I will surely give my father grandchildren. Just give me some time. I will find her. If I don't see her before the end of this year, I will pick any woman of your choice. Happy?", Alpha Jax said.

"Really? Are you sure? Do you promise?"Uncle Max's eyes lit up.

"Yes, I promise. Now, can I relax? I need a strong wine", Alpha Jax said with a smile.

Would he resort to making any random woman give birth to his children?

Where are you, mate? Alpha Jax muttered seeming frustrated.
