Chapter 59: Chapter 59
TICKING BOMB
A little tip from Aamina, that was all it took, for Janelle to obtain everything that had transpired during the five years she wasn't in Qatar, the role Madok Zadir, Rashids' brother had played in making her life a total mess, and how karma had hit him so bad.
Karma's really a Bitch!, She blinked away the tears starting to form, she folded her hands beneath her breast as her eyes took in the surrounding of Madoks' residence, she nodded her head in disapproval. She couldn't believe it, if anyone had told her all this was going to happen to the Prince of Qatar, she'd have reported the person to the Royal Court for blasphemy and being traitorous, but then, Seeing is really Believing.
It wasn't that bad too, but the Sheikh had done more than Punishing his Son, he was also teaching him a lesson, the clucking of chickens brought her out of her deep thoughts.
"Ohhh, he now trains chicken!" she mumbled to herself. Summoning the little courage left in her, she walked to the door of the merely big bungalow, took a deep breath before knocking.
On the verge of knocking for the third time, the door sprang open and she couldn't believe her eyes, she couldn't compare the Madok of Then to Now. He almost looked unrecognizable, if not for his unique eyes he shared with Rashid, and the Royal stance which he carried.
His head hung low on his shoulders, "Janelle?" He called, which came out like a question, "Janelle?, Is this really you?" he asked, he almost cowered in shame.
"Yes. It's me Madok, I'm here in flesh, body, mind and soul, don't act surprised, you would have known from the news." she rested her weight on her right leg.
He looked over her shoulder, "It's still early in the morning, does anyone know you came here?, Does Rashid know?" he asked, as he kept looking around to be sure she came alone.
"No, no, he doesn't. He doesn't need to know everywhere I've been to or my future whereabouts, he never cared in the past, should he care now?" she jabbed.
"E-er-erm, I e-er-erm." he brought his nails to his teeth and began chewing on them.
She furrowed her brows, Madok was never one to stutter, and while she felt a huge sense of discomfort with the way he was acting, guilt kept nagging at Madok, his conscience wasn't at peace with himself.
"Do I come in, or you'd just let me stand outside. I know you've never liked me, not once, not even half, but for in-law sake, we ought to have gone past this." he gave space for her, before she walked in, her eyes roaming around the interior of his house.
"Not bad though." she complimented, before taking a seat on the couch.
"Janelle."
"You act like you've seen a ghost, I get you don't like me here, but...
"No, no, that's not it. Please don't get me wrong, and don't judge my countenance, I'm only surprised you came to see me, after everything I did to you. For years, it's just been you, no one else, apart from people who ruined my life and still think they can have another chance to finish me off. I'm surprise and also grateful.... but," he paused, as Khadija walked in, a rather tired smile on her face, and little beads of sweat on her face, her face was looking kinda puffy.
"Ohhhh, who do we have here, Princess Janelle!" Khadija almost screamed, taking unhurried steps towards her before enveloping her in a warm hug.
"Where have you been?, I've missed you, you suddenly left, didn't tell us you were going to leave, thought something bad had happened to you." Khadija babbled before walking towards Madok, wrapped her hands around his waist, stood on her toes and gave him a peck on his right cheeks.
The tears she had been trying so hard to hold in began falling, she couldn't control it, couldn't control herself. While she was away bereaving, having alone, hard times, everyone was moving on, sorting their differences and learning to let go, she hoped and wished one day things would be same between her and Rashid, and she hoped it'd be sooner.
"It's okay love, it's okay." Khadija kept saying soothing words to her, Janelle felt like she could feel her pain, feel how hurt she's.
"I've missed a lot, What happened?, How?" she kept throwing questions at them.
Madok raised his head to look at her, "I want to tell you everything, tell you the role I played in all of this, tell you how this sweet woman beside me, helped in picking and patching my torn pieces together, but it would take forever," he paused, scratched his head, before he continued, "But, you left home with no one knowing your whereabouts, and I know one thing, it's either everyone is being punished by Rashid for your sudden disappearance or he's taking out his frustration on the Security Personells. Mostly, he'd be so worried about you, I think you should go home, so he doesn't worry himself to death, and on a very good day, when you're chanced, I'd fill you in on everything." he assured her.
"He doesn't care, I think he'd even be preparing for work." Janelle pouted, her chin jerked up stubbornly.
Madok smiled, "Well well, you and I both know you're lying to yourself, you know he cares so much, but sometimes he's so proud to admit it, PRIDE, which you both share equally. I don't want my brother getting Brain tumor from overthinking and stressing of his poor brain." He pulled Khadija softly to his side and kissed the crest beneath her forehead.
~~~~ ΩΩΩμΩΩΩ ~~~~
"And her Phone?" Rashid thundered, gripping his phone tightly.
"She didn't take it with her, it's in her room." Janelle's maid replied, her head bowed and her legs shaking uncontrollably.
"God-damnit!, The woman knows it'd have been tampered with, Fuck!, Fuck!, Fûcking..." he swore harshly.
He walked out of the house immediately, heading towards his car, he sighted Dargok and ordered him to follow suite immediately, just when he was about to slip his car key in, his gate opened and Janelle walked in.
He paused, really looked at her, to be sure he wasn't hallucinating, and for the first time in months he felt strangely pissed and somewhat calm, Calm in the sense that there was no way he could direct all the pent up anger at her, knowing fully well he was so weak when it came to her.
Yet, "Janelle!" he thundered, unable to stop himself from exploding, "Where the fuck have you been?" he bawled.
"Well....." she paused, checked the time on her wristwatch, "Good morning. It's going to be a long day and I better go in, wash up and prepare myself."
In a swift, he was before her, his eyes round like saucers and a Stern face, he repeated his last question, "Where were you, where did you go to as early as that?"
"I needed a little bit of fresh air, and some alone time for myself, as you must have checked, I didn't go with my phone, knowing you fully well and your egoistic self, you must have tampered with my phone, but, no problem. You're forgiven and I wouldn't tell you to remove the GPS you had implanted in my phone, but.... I'd be needing my very own privacy for as long as this pact between our families stay." she jerked her chin up.
"Deal?" she questioned.
"There's no deal, unless I'm being notified of everywhere you go, and you make use of the escorts, that's what they're being paid for." he said almost quietly.
"Well, I don't pay them, you did, so suit yourself, and I don't care if there's the DEAL or not, but you just can't continue invading on my privacy, you've to, it's really annoying, and this is not some cliche story, where the Greek tycoon abducts an innocent young lady and doesn't want to let her go, we're not replaying those stories, so please.." her voice shrivelled.
For some few minutes, no one talked, the both just stood before each other, relaying different thoughts, no one wanting to give in to the others request.
"Deal." Rashid groaned.
Janelle smiled gleefully, "You see! It wasn't that hard. We should have eaten breakfast by now, and go about in our daily works, like nothing had happened, you decided to keep dragging things up."
"Well, we have to talk, a very long discussion, PRIVATELY." he made emphasis on the last word.
Janelle cocked a brow, nodding negatively to his request, "You know it's not possible, anything but Private."
He held her wrist in a Savage grip, "Ouch ouch, that hurts!" she cried out. "Rashid?, You're hurting me."
Rashid scoffed, "If this is your definition of hurt, wait until you don't give me a well defined answer." he threatened.
"Answer?, Answer to what question?" she asked, gritting her teeth.
"The girl whose picture is the cover on your laptop, tell me who she is, you can't tell me she's your sister's child, you've no sister, it's just you. Neither can it be your brother's child, he's still very young, it's yours and I want to know the father. I've asked this same question before, but.... you avoided it. Now, I'd ask you again, Is she mine?." he thundered, eyes blazing, with hurt, anger, betrayal and a very new feeling.. Hope.
Janelle quietened in his hold.
"IS. THAT. LITTLE. GIRL. MINE?"
