Chapter 40: Chapter 40
LOVE DOES COMPROMISE
Two weeks gone, yet, Janelle hadn't found an answer to the option given to her by Rashid, she was seated in her office, her head going in tumbles, when the she heard a knock which brought her back to consciousness.
Looking up she saw the saddens face of her personal assistant, Olivia and she became quite bothered of what made her face dull.
"Miss Leilani we have a big problem!" Olivia hinted, walking aimlessly and pacing around the office with no hint of calming down.
"Problem?" Janelle mumbled.
"First, you need to calm down, seeing you looking all bothered is making me alarmed, did something go wrong?. Didn't our stock sell out or was it pirated before we sent it out to the market?. Whatever the problem is you need to calm down and explain!" Janelle sighed, her palms becoming sweaty.
She was bothered that Rashid would surely be on her neck if this business turns out bad, moreso worse, he would think she is deliberately trying to ruin him, his business and the company, mixing business with their personal issues and she didn't want that.
"No, Miss Leilani, far from it!" Olivia rasped, finally taking a seat opposite Janelle.
"Then what exactly is the problem?" she opined.
Olivia hesitated for a while before responding.
"It's the boss, Mr Rashid."
"Okay?" Janelle's lips twitched.
"Just that?, You should be worried about me bringing up a topic of him, he's currently on his way here. He didn't tell is earlier, I just received a call from his personal assistant, the Blondie, that we should be expecting his arrival any moment from now." Olivia finally explained.
"It's absurd, he usually doesn't come around, he seldomly does so, I don't think he counts this place amongst the companies he owns that's why the other manager was able to cater away with huge sum of money," She continued, her sitting pose in an unladylike way.
On hearing that, Janelle immediately grabbed an envelope from the arranged files on her desk and began fanning herself with it, while Olivia stared at her with mouth agape.
The office was very cool, the air conditioner was in the highest and Olivia was barely feeling warm not to mention hot, but seeing the way perspiration made its way on Janelle's face made her arch a brow, she stood up to leave knowing her problem is mild compared to her manager.
"You know what?, Just leave my Office and let me know before he comes into my office, give me a call." Janelle blurted, walking over to where Olivia stood and urging her impatiently to leave her office.
"Wait... Miss Leilani, I won't be able to give you a call, because, the boss never takes permission before walking into his company, nor seeing his manager." Olivia drawled, fussing over the fact that she was being pushed out of the Office where she just walked into.
He won't, of course. The two weeks he had given Janelle to think over the options he gave to her elapsed three days ago, yet, Janelle hadn't found the date nor time to give him a feedback. Rashid being a very impatient person saw to it that if Janelle wouldn't give him a call to discuss the positive feedback which he had been patiently waiting for before her time elapsed, then he would see to it to come meet the lady.
Janelle knowing the one reason why he was coming to the Office to make a show fuelled her anger more in pushing Olivia out of her Office
"Of course he has to, everyone deserves their privacy. You would better do your work as my personal assistant, or rather, tell him I'm not around." Janelle opined.
Olivia cringed in distaste, "No, I can't do that. Mr Zadir would have my head when he finds out that I lied to him and I can't risk my career for that. I would tell him point blank that you are in the Office."
"Okay, please, once my salary comes in, I'm giving a quarter to you. You just have to tell him I went out with the marketing team because of the new products that were sent out today." Janelle cooed, trying to find all means for Olivia to come to terms with it.
Olivia headed for the door immediately, backing the door, she opened it. "Any other time, Miss Leilani, I won't lie to Mr Zadir....", she was interrupted immediately, as Rashid stepped into the Office looking monstrous with the angry look on his face.
"Of course she can't, hello Miss Leilani, nice to see you again." Rashid bawled, from the tone of his voice, Janelle knew she was really in for it, seeing how Rashids' face looked, Olivia squirmed with fear and hurriedly left the Office breathing out in relief.
"E-er-er-eeerm, I, I was g-going to er-erm give you a call, you know... once er-erm, once we were closed for the day." she stuttered, holding onto her dress tightly, like though the ground would eat her up if she doesn't hold on to something for support.
The aura he carried gracefully around him was choking her, she felt crowded when they were alone in a place, his muscularity seemed to make her downright little, very little and smallish.
Walking gingerly towards her, his eyes roamed over her body, he stilled immediately, taking in the scent emanating from her, she smelt of ginger and vanilla.
The scent alone was a huge turn on for him. "How much longer would I be able to resist this temptation?" He asked himself.
She saw the muscles in his hands flexed, she was scared, very scared that he was angry at her and might hit her for keeping him waiting. She had never felt this scared asides when her mom had rejected the marriage between her and Rashid.
No, he wasn't angry at her, he was angry at himself for having lost the willpower to lash at her on how she had kept him waiting like a fool, instead he was here thinking about her lush and full every part of her body had become after five and almost a half year.
Scratching the wicked thoughts of his aside, he spoke, "I would say you stop trying to renegotiate with my workers. None would give in, no matter how much you offer, both in cash and kind." he said the last part in a frenzy, not minding how the words might hurt her.
Janelle bit down on her lips, it infuriated her, hearing this coming from his mouth, AGAIN!, but she held her temper. TWO WRONGS COULD NEVER MAKE A RIGHT.
While he waited for her to take a come back at him, she didn't reply the insult, she kept her shoulders up and her head high, acting like he wasn't breaking her apart.
"Would you like to sit down, Rashid?" she questioned. The past week had made her realize that every moment she spent exchanging words with Rashid hadn't better the situation or made him assure her of giving her a divorce as she asked for, rather it made him act so up-tight, unloving and unforgiving. All these attributes wasn't the Rashid she knew.
"No, I would rather stand" he replied gruffly.
"Okay. Let me make a cup of coffee for you." she continued.
"You don't know my preference and no one would do it better than myself."
"Of course, I always did it then, you loved the CHAMOMILE TEA, I guess it's still your preference." she was trying to make the conversation a little bit light, smiling at him, dimples appearing on both sides of her cheeks.
He seemed unmoved by the gesture.
Since he didn't reply her, she went ahead to make the tea.
He went to the cushion and sat on it, after some few minutes she came back with a tray and two tea cup with a jug. Standing in front of him, she placed the tray on the table and poured a generous quantity for him.
"It has been my best tea since the few months I spent with you, I take a pack with me wherever I go, it's either in my handbag or in my drawer. It's soothing and makes me sleep, easing me off the stress for the day." She smiled, remembering the good old days.
"You should have found a new taste, since you are very good at that with men." he replied, taking the tea down in one huge gulp.
"Sometimes we get to enjoy the old things more." she calmly replied.
"When are you moving in?" he popped the question, she had been trying so hard not to face.
"Moving in?" she teetered like though she had no clue of what he was talking about.
"Yes, moving into the ZADIR's. When?" he repeated, his lips set in a straight line.
"You really wouldn't make it so easy for me right?. I thought you might have changed your decision and.. Ohh God!, what was I thinking." she mumbled, dropping her unfinished cup of tea on the tray.
"It was never easy for me. I wouldn't let you go just like that?, It should be worth the trouble."
