Chapter 557: Chapter 557

Lin Fan smiled and said, "Honest Uncle, no need to worry. I can help Grandpa Zhonghou recover, but not right now. There’s a shortage of medicine here. I’ll get supplies from the county and then see Grandpa Zhonghou."

Just now, feeling bored, he had organized things a bit. Indeed, the clinic was quite low on supplies, possibly because Old Liu had been traveling these days and hadn’t had a chance to restock.

Generally speaking, the clinic needs regular restocking. Some common herbs can be directly purchased at the herbal market.

Honest Chen said anxiously, "What should we do? My father is in a lot of pain right now."

Lin Fan said, "It’s okay, his main problem now is wound pain. I’ll apply some ointment for him. I’ll go get supplies today and treat him when I return."

Saying this, Lin Fan returned inside the clinic and took the leftover ointment from the surgery he performed on Chen Huzi yesterday and applied it to Chen Zhonghou.

This ointment is quite miraculous. Shortly after being applied, Chen Zhonghou’s pain eased significantly, and his spirits lifted a bit.

"Little Fan, thank you so much, you’ve worked hard." Chen Zhonghou said gratefully.

Lin Fan smiled and said, "Don’t mention it, I’m a doctor. It’s my duty to think of my patients."

Honest Chen was also very grateful and thanked Lin Fan repeatedly, agreeing to return in the afternoon, and then he carried Chen Zhonghou away.

Lin Fan said to Liu Zixing, "I need to go to the county now. If any patients come, please ask them to return in the afternoon."

Lin Fan’s trip to the city for herbs was just in passing. Mainly, he wanted to check on his third uncle at the county hospital. If the infusion was working well, he could bring his uncle home today.

Liu Zixing said, "Okay, you hurry back. I can’t handle it alone."

Having Lin Fan around gave her a sense of security. When she heard he was going to the city, she panicked a bit, realizing she had become somewhat reliant on him, without quite knowing why.

Lin Fan agreed and set off for the county town.

He got on a rural bus and headed to the county.

The bus arrived at the outskirts of the county town.

Lin Fan had to transfer to a city bus to get to the hospital. In less developed areas, transportation is more inconvenient.

Not every place is like a first-tier city with convenient transportation; in those cities, buses come every few minutes and go everywhere, whereas in less developed cities, transportation is still quite inconvenient.

Usually, you can gauge a city’s development level by its public transportation. Cities with many bus routes and frequent buses are generally big cities, while those with fewer lines and less frequent buses, where you might wait over half an hour for a bus, are definitely small, less developed ones.

The journey from the village to the county isn’t too far, around a dozen or so miles. With two bus transfers, it took him over an hour.

Lin Fan regretted not driving himself, wanting to keep a low profile.

After much waiting, the bus that finally arrived wasn’t crowded, which was good—it wasn’t like in big cities, where buses are packed, especially during rush hour, which can be very daunting.

"Help! Someone please help!"

Just then, a sharp scream echoed in the bus.

At midday, most passengers were in a daze; the scream startled everyone awake, and they all turned to look.

They saw an elderly man with a livid face and furrowed brows, unconscious in his seat, while a beautiful woman nearby was pale with fright, desperately shaking the man in panic, her forehead beaded with sweat—the scream had come from her.

The female conductor heard the scream and rushed over, shocked at the sight of the elderly man.

Indeed, the city’s buses were mostly automated with card swiping, yet this bus had a conductor, indicating its backwardness. Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⚑𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⚑𝕟𝕖𝕥

"Miss, what’s going on with the patient?" the female conductor asked.

The beautiful woman said anxiously, "My grandpa has heart disease; it must be a heart attack!"

"Then quickly give him his medicine!" The conductor was in even more of a panic; if someone died on the bus, it would be a real problem.

"I forgot to bring the medicine when we got on the bus!" The woman’s eyes were red, almost driven to tears by her anxiety, filled with guilt.

"Miss, please don’t panic," the conductor comforted the woman, though she was sweating profusely herself. She raised her head to loudly ask the crowd, "Is there a doctor here, or anyone with heart medication, who can help this patient?"

As the crowd exchanged hesitant looks, a voice broke out, "Clear the way, I’m a doctor!"

The crowd stepped aside, revealing a handsome young man walking over. He was dressed in a suit, and both his attire and hairstyle were quite stylish.

"Are you a doctor? That’s wonderful, please help with the patient!" The conductor said joyfully.

The handsome young man nodded and approached the elderly man, bending over to check his pulse and listen, going through the motions of a professional doctor.

"The patient’s heart has stopped; we must perform CPR immediately! Everyone, back away and let the air flow freely!" The young man commanded loudly, trying to disperse the onlookers.

The crowd quickly moved aside. They were there to watch, but if the old man died, they didn’t want any blame.

Afraid of being implicated, everyone backed away, except for one person, Lin Fan, who had just arrived.

Lin Fan, blinking with curiosity, was carefully observing the elderly man’s complexion, oblivious to the young man’s words.

"I said, everyone needs to step back! Hillbilly, can’t you understand human language?" The handsome young man glared at Lin Fan in annoyance, shouting loudly. This guy was clearly from the countryside, dressed in shabby clothes—people like him were his least favorite.

Having finished his observations, Lin Fan heard the young man’s words and felt a bit unhappy.

"You’re a doctor? Looks to me like you’re an idiot! This is a heart disease recurrence; his heart and pulse are weakening. Performing CPR now is a total waste of time and could burden the patient more!" Lin Fan retorted coldly.

Seeing the hillbilly dare to argue back and even insult him, the young man was livid, his face darkening as he said, "Who do you think you are to question me? Do you even know who I am? I’m Zhu Ming!"

Lin Fan asked in surprise, "What, are you really a pig?"

"Zhu Ming!" The young man was so angered he jumped in frustration; this hillbilly had clearly misheard on purpose!

Upon hearing the name Zhu Ming, everyone was stirred. That name was familiar to them!

Zhu Ming, one of the top ten outstanding young doctors in the city, had achieved a PhD in medicine at a young age. People often saw his image on television and in newspapers; he was a rising star in Tianhai City’s medical community.

How was it possible that Zhu Ming appeared on this bus due to some twist of fate?

"It’s really him; he’s even more handsome in person than on TV!"

"How lucky we are to have Zhu Ming here; the old man will certainly be saved!"

The crowd began to chatter.

Knowing they were confronting the famous Dr. Zhu Ming, while Lin Fan was just an unknown country bumpkin, naturally, everyone sided with Zhu Ming.

"How can this person be like that, daring to question Dr. Zhu Ming?"

Soon, these thoughts surfaced amongst everyone.

"Brother, could you please be kind enough to step aside and not obstruct Dr. Zhu Ming? I’m begging you," the beautiful woman pleaded urgently.
