Chapter 193: Chapter 193
The thin man quickly brushed past Lin Fan.
Feng Wanshan then returned to his office, paying no attention to the courier at the front desk.
Seeing the thin man exit and the client not yet arrived, Lin Fan tossed out a sentence: "Miss, could you pass this on for me?"
Having said that, without further ado, he threw the package on the front desk and turned to leave.
The receptionist was furious: "What’s wrong with you?! I’m going to report you!"
Lin Fan didn’t care if she reported him, he was already out the door.
Meanwhile, Qian Wu left Shengshi Group Mansion and walked away, cautiously observing his surroundings. He took out his phone and made a call.
"Hello, it’s me," Qian Wu said in a low voice.
Anna’s voice came from the other end: "Have you left?"
Qian Wu replied: "Yes, I’ve got the 5 million check."
Anna said: "Good, let me know as soon as you have any news."
Qian Wu chuckled: "Rest assured, Miss Anna, I will."
Then, he hung up the phone.
Putting the phone back in his pocket, Qian Wu was about to leave quickly.
Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his waist and realized there was someone behind him, pressing a knife against him!
Damn, as vigilant as he was, someone got behind him without him noticing. Who was this person?
It was none other than Lin Fan.
"Don’t move if you don’t want to die!" Lin Fan said in a threatening tone.
Qian Wu’s expression changed: "Who are you? Are you trying to rob me in broad daylight?"
Lin Fan replied: "You guessed it. See that alley three hundred meters ahead? Walk over there slowly, don’t turn around, don’t do anything funny."
Qian Wu began to step forward, suddenly trying to speed up and shake off Lin Fan.
However, before he could accelerate, Lin Fan’s hand was already on his shoulder. The immense force felt like a giant boulder, paralyzing half of Qian Wu’s body, leaving him unable to escape.
Cold sweat broke out on Qian Wu.
This guy is too strong!
"I told you, behave. Next time, I’ll cripple you," Lin Fan said coldly.
Not daring to act rashly anymore, Qian Wu nodded obediently and walked slowly ahead.
With one hand on Qian Wu’s shoulder and a knife pressed against his waist, onlookers might have thought the two were simply walking arm in arm.
Soon, they turned into the alley, arriving at a secluded corner.
Lin Fan told Qian Wu to stop.
"Who exactly are you, and what do you want?" Qian Wu asked. He still didn’t know who was holding him up.
Lin Fan deliberately lowered his voice. All Qian Wu knew was that Lin Fan was male; he couldn’t even guess his age.
"Why was Anna at Shengshi Group today?" Lin Fan asked.
The thin man mentioned Anna at Shengshi Group earlier, so Lin Fan was looking to gather some information from him.
Qian Wu was surprised: "You know Anna?"
Lin Fan said coldly: "Less talk, answer my question. Don’t try to lie; I’ll know. If I catch you lying, you’ll lose both ears."
Feeling a chill down his spine, Qian Wu was caught in a dilemma. He didn’t know who Lin Fan was or what he knew, and to save his ears, the safest bet was to tell the truth.
"She came for her father’s matter," Qian Wu said.
A surprised thought crossed Lin Fan’s mind. He recalled that night when Anna, drunk, mistook him for her father, holding his hand and saying, "Dad, don’t go."
At the time, Lin Fan was curious. However, Anna had been unwilling to talk.
Lin Fan asked: "What’s up with her father? Tell me the whole story from beginning to end."
Qian Wu replied: "Her father, An Jincheng, disappeared fifteen years ago..."
Fifteen years ago, An Jincheng disappeared.
Anna, left an orphan, was taken in as an adopted daughter by An Jincheng’s good friend, Feng Wanshan, who supported her through her education.
Anna was determined to find An Jincheng, and Feng Wanshan helped finance the search for his whereabouts.
Qian Wu was in charge of tracking down An Jincheng.
He also told Lin Fan about the meeting between the three of them today.
Lin Fan listened, pondered for a moment, and asked: "Why did you just call Anna?"
Qian Wu replied: "Years ago, when Feng Wanshan engaged me to trace An Jincheng, Anna knew about me. She privately found me, beat me up, and demanded that I inform her first whenever I had information."
Lin Fan broke out in a sweat; that sounded just like Anna. She did this to get firsthand information, probably because she feared Feng Wanshan would hide things from her.
Lin Fan asked: "Does Feng Wanshan know about this?"
Qian Wu said: "She warned me not to tell Feng Wanshan."
Lin Fan sneered: "Let me guess, you still told Feng Wanshan."
Qian Wu broke into a cold sweat: "Uh..."
Lin Fan said: "So, that old fox Feng Wanshan still controls the primary information. Is this news about An Jincheng true or false?"
Qian Wu, drenched in cold sweat, dared not answer.
Lin Fan said: "Speak, don’t waste my time."
Qian Wu gritted his teeth: "It’s false. It was Feng Wanshan who instructed me to tell Anna, but as for why, I don’t know."
That night, Feng Wanshan suddenly called Qian Wu, asking him to leak a piece of news about An Jincheng to Anna.
Qian Wu followed his instructions, deceiving Anna into thinking there was news about An Jincheng’s whereabouts.
Feng Wanshan then also informed Anna of the same lie, arranging a meeting at Shengshi Group today.
Qian Wu was unaware of Feng Wanshan’s purpose, but Lin Fan understood.
During the fight that night, Lin Fan attempted to drive a wedge between Feng Wanshan and Anna. Feng Wanshan suspected that Anna’s loyalties had shifted; this was his way to make Anna obediently counter Lin Fan.
You had to hand it to Feng Wanshan; he was deeply scheming. He navigated the situation without leaving any traces, arranging Anna’s actions thoroughly.
For her father’s sake, even if Anna genuinely had feelings for Lin Fan, she had no choice but to oppose him.
"Despicable," Lin Fan thought with some contempt for Feng Wanshan, using Anna’s father to pressure her, giving her false hope.
Lin Fan asked: "In reality, what’s the status of An Jincheng? Have you made any progress since you started investigating?"
Qian Wu shook his head with a bitter smile: "No, it was like he vanished into thin air. There’s no trace left, and back then, even the police failed to find anything, not even a single clue!"
Lin Fan mused: "So, telling you to investigate An Jincheng was merely a way for Feng Wanshan to dangle false hope in front of Anna."
Qian Wu replied: "You could say that."
Lin Fan’s voice turned cold: "Is An Jincheng still alive, or did Feng Wanshan kill him?"
Qian Wu was shocked: "I don’t know, isn’t that a bit too terrifying? Would Feng Wanshan be so fearsome, killing her father and then pretending to help find him? That would be devilish..."
Lin Fan continued to observe Qian Wu closely, employing top-tier insight, yet he found no signs that Qian Wu lied.
It seemed that Qian Wu indeed knew nothing about An Jincheng’s real situation.
Perhaps only Feng Wanshan knew.
Fifteen years ago, it’s possible that An Jincheng genuinely disappeared, never to be found again. He might be dead or even killed by Feng Wanshan.
These possibilities remain until proven otherwise.
Interest piqued, Lin Fan wanted to uncover what had happened to An Jincheng all those years ago. If he could help Anna find her father, winning her over would be straightforward.
"Our conversation remains secret between us. Don’t inform Feng Wanshan. You don’t know who I am, but I know who you are. If I find out you told Feng Wanshan, I’ll come for your life."
Lin Fan said nonchalantly, tapping Qian Wu’s crown.
Qian Wu immediately went limp, fainting.
A while later, when Qian Wu slowly regained consciousness, Lin Fan was long gone...
