Chapter 151: Chapter 151
Loli giggled sweetly, her cheeks red: "Because you’re handsome!"
After witnessing Lin Fan’s skills today, she was even more infatuated with him. As a police officer, she had been fond of martial arts since childhood and admired experts. Lin Fan was exactly the expert she aspired to.
Lin Fan said, "You don’t really like me, do you? Aren’t we just pretending?"
Loli said, "Why not? Do you like me?"
"Of course," Lin Fan replied without hesitation. Who wouldn’t like a beautiful policewoman like her?
Loli was overjoyed. She liked Lin Fan, and Lin Fan liked her. If they both liked each other, couldn’t they really be together?
Loli reminded herself not to rush things. She would spend more time with Lin Fan, make him like her more, and then their being together would be a natural progression.
"Thank you," Loli said with a sweet smile.
Lin Fan said, "Thank me for what?"
Loli said, "Thank you for coming here."
Lin Fan smiled and said, "No need to be polite. I owe you this."
After that, the two chatted here and there. Loli asked why Lin Fan was so good with his hands, and he repeated the story he told Chu Xiaoxiao earlier. Loli was also just as amazed as Chu Xiaoxiao.
Soon, Lu Meilian finished cooking, and the three of them started eating. The meal was enjoyable, making them feel like a family.
Lin Fan hadn’t had a home-cooked meal in a long time, and he ate three bowls of rice in one go.
After dinner, the sky outside had already darkened.
As Lu Meilian tidied up the dishes, she said, "Little Fan, it’s getting late. How about not going back tonight and staying here overnight? You’ve just started dating, so you can spend more time together."
Lin Fan was drinking water, and upon hearing this, almost spat it out. Auntie was really pushing it!
Even Loli noticed and her face turned crimson immediately: "Mom, what are you saying... Lin Fan, do you want to stay?"
Lin Fan felt his heartbeat accelerate: "Do you want me to stay?"
Loli bit her lip: "Stay if you want..."
Lin Fan felt tempted. This request was hard to refuse. They were pretending to be a couple, but to keep the act intact, if he stayed, wouldn’t they share a room tonight?
Just thinking about it made him feel giddy...
But just then, Loli’s phone suddenly rang.
Loli answered the call and immediately stood up, her face turning serious: "Okay, I understand. I’ll head over immediately!"
Hanging up the phone, Loli said, "There’s been a homicide case in the city. I have to head out on a call. Lin Fan, if you stay, sleep in my room. I have to go now."
With that, Loli hurried out the door.
Lin Fan broke into a sweat. It seemed the heavens were not on his side.
With Loli gone, there was no point in staying, so he said goodbye to Lu Meilian and left the Luo family house.
Outside, it was completely dark. Lin Fan didn’t feel like going back to Yunding Manor, so he decided to drive the Kosak back to his apartment.
It was the perfect time for an evening stroll, and the roads were still quite crowded.
As he approached a crossroad near a park, he saw a crowd gathered by the roadside, with an old man lying on the ground, face pale, motionless. A young woman crouched beside him, looking extremely anxious and quite pretty.
"Someone, please help my grandpa!" the young woman pleaded with the people around her.
But most of the passersby were just onlookers, hesitant to step forward, fearing it might be a scheme.
Someone suggested, "Miss, just call an ambulance!"
The young woman said, "There’s no time. He needs treatment now."
The crowd shook their heads, expressing they were unable to help.
The young woman grew more anxious, especially since the area was quite secluded, and no cars seemed to be passing by.
Just then, a top-tier sports car pulled up next to them.
Lin Fan got out of the car and said, "Do you need help here?"
The onlookers were taken aback by the luxury car—a sign of wealth.
The young woman, seeing the sports car, exclaimed joyfully, "Sir, please, can you give us a ride?"
Lin Fan said, "Alright, let’s get the elderly gentleman onto the car first."
And with that, he walked over and, with the young woman’s help, carried the old man onto the car.
In the past, during difficult times, Lin Fan wouldn’t have dared to help easily, fearing false accusations, but now it was different. Even if it was a scam, he could handle it; being wealthy surely had its perks.
Moreover, judging by the old man’s face, he wasn’t pretending. If he was acting, his skills would have been Oscar-worthy. Besides, both the elderly man and the young woman were well-dressed; the woman donned designer labels and exhibited the aura of a rich and beautiful woman—not the kind to scam.
Inside the car, Lin Fan quickly restarted the engine.
"Thank you, sir," came the voice of the young woman from the back seat.
Lin Fan smiled and said, "You’re welcome. I was just on my way, so I’ll get you to the hospital."
The young woman said, "Sir, we don’t need a hospital. The hospital can’t save my grandpa."
Lin Fan responded, "Oh, where should we go then?"
The young woman said, "To my home."
Lin Fan frowned. Refusing to go to the hospital and wanting to return home for treatment seemed odd. Was this a trap?
The young woman seemed to notice Lin Fan’s suspicion and explained, "My grandpa’s condition can’t be treated at a hospital. We have specific medicine at home."
Lin Fan said, "I see. Where’s your home?"
The young woman said, "Peninsula Mansion on Chunxi Road."
Lin Fan thought inwardly, Peninsula Mansion—that’s one of the renowned upscale residences in Yun City, only the rich and high-status people reside there!
It seemed his doubts were unnecessary; they weren’t lying to him.
Peninsula Mansion was nearby, and with Lin Fan’s fast car, they arrived in about ten minutes.
Along the way, Lin Fan learned that the young woman was named Liu Bing’er and the elderly man was her grandpa, Liu Tingshan.
With Lin Fan’s limited knowledge, he recalled a few wealthy individuals with the last name Liu in Yun City, but none matched Liu Tingshan. He couldn’t figure out their background.
Liu Bing’er was still a student. She was home on a break today, and after dinner, she was out for a walk with her grandpa when he suddenly fell ill. She was extremely stressed; if anything happened to her grandpa, it would be too much for her to bear.
Lin Fan’s car stopped in front of a large mansion.
"Brother Lin, could you help me bring grandpa inside? I’ll go fetch his medicine," Liu Bing’er said.
Lin Fan nodded, "No problem."
He got out of the car, carried Liu Tingshan on his back, and followed Liu Bing’er into the mansion.
The news of Liu Tingshan collapsing quickly spread through the Liu Family Mansion, and a few people hurriedly rushed into the living room, all dressed in fine clothing. Two burly men in suits also entered, likely bodyguards.
"What’s going on, who are you?"
A stern-looking middle-aged man asked Lin Fan, his tone somewhat harsh.
Lin Fan placed Liu Tingshan on the sofa and said, "The elderly gentleman fainted on the street. I happened to pass by and brought him back."
So it turns out he was helping.
The middle-aged man, however, grew even more upset and looked at the two bodyguards with anger: "What are you doing? Why didn’t you accompany and protect the old master when he went out?"
The two bodyguards seemed intimidated by the middle-aged man’s demeanor and lowered their heads, not daring to meet his eyes.
