Starting as a Magical Girl, I Alone Shall Rule for Eternity Chapter 49
"No one to argue with, so lonely~"
At dusk, Twins sat on the swing, vigorously rocking her body.
The already somewhat worn-out swing creaked and groaned pitifully. "Captain, captain, don't we look like the villains in cartoons who get defeated one by one by the Magical Girls, then all get captured?"
"Stop being such a jinx."
"Captain, captain, are you the final boss? Can you grow bigger? How many Magical Girls can you fight?"
"Don't you have anything better to do?"
"I really don't have anything to do." Twins sighed with some melancholy, slowing her swinging speed. "Actually, it doesn't matter who dies here, but Yinluo can't die. She's so much fun—if she dies, everything will become so quiet."
"Her death brought us the Miracle Seed."
From the crystal ball, the captain spoke in a heavy tone. "Worthy of half a day of mourning, unfortunately, because we're so busy, we can only mourn for her in our hearts."
"The important thing isn't to eliminate her, just to keep her occupied is enough."
"Okay, okay, keep Shion occupied, then we'll crush the Disaster Control Bureau and Azure Cloud Sect! Unify Beihai!"
But the captain didn't respond, so Twins kicked her feet boredly.
She had gone out wearing slippers today, but she hooked the edges tightly with her toes, so no matter how she kicked, they wouldn't come off.
The setting sun and wind licked the tops of her feet. Feeling a slight ticklish pain, Twins relaxed her grip and sent her slippers flying off.
But she quickly swung hard on the swing, chasing after the flying slippers, and with a "heave-ho" sound, stepped back into them.
Then Twins said leisurely:
"Captain, have you ever watched those cartoons or comics where Magical Girls or superheroes fight against villain teams?"
"I don't have time."
"No taste." Twins complained before continuing, "I grew up in the Witch Association, so when I watched comics and cartoons back then, I always liked watching those villain teams bicker and fight. Even though they lost to those Magical Girls and superheroes every time, they could always make a comeback. Occasionally winning once or twice made me so happy I couldn't help eating two extra bowls of rice."
"If you could eat two extra bowls of rice every day, you wouldn't be this skinny."
"Hehe, captain, when did you learn to tease? You learned it just for me, right? Twins is so touched."
"Get lost."
Twins noticed a little girl swinging on the swing next to her, swinging particularly high and far, clearly trying to surpass her. She turned to look at the little girl and immediately snorted.
She exerted force abruptly, swinging almost into mid-air with the swing. This time it was so high even she felt a bit scared.
Twins was somewhat afraid of heights.
But the little girl next to her swung to about the same height. Naturally unwilling to admit defeat, the two swung higher and higher.
Eventually, the little girl got scared and slowly slowed down. When trying to get off the swing, she accidentally fell.
Fortunately, because her speed had slowed, the fall wasn't serious, but a wound appeared on her forehead and started bleeding.
The hurt little girl ran crying toward her home.
"Hmph, little girl, daring to compete with me in swinging? You're a hundred years too early."
While speaking proudly, she also jumped off the swing, landing extremely fast and leaving two furrows in the ground with her feet. After stopping steadily, she hopped around shaking off the dirt from her slippers and feet.
Holding the crystal ball:
"Captain, captain, see? I won."
The captain just sighed and ignored her.
Twins watched the setting sun being dragged into the horizon, spreading her arms to welcome the not-so-grand dusk, somewhat melancholy. "It's like the grand finale in cartoons. Captain, as the boss, you'll soon be all alone. So pitiful. Every time I see the grand finale where the big boss who originally had a bunch of followers ends up being killed alone, I feel so sorry for them."
"Why do you sound like you're going to die?"
"Could I possibly survive opposing Azure Cloud Sect? That psychopathic killer Shion will definitely slaughter me without mercy. How can there be such a Magical Girl? It's truly terrifying."
"You're also a Magical Girl, can't you have some backbone? So embarrassing!"
"Hey, captain, don't take your frustration with Shion out on me. If you have the ability, go deal with her yourself."
"I just told you to buy some time and attract attention." The captain's tone was angry. "You wasted so many Calamity Eggs in BH City, and now you're acting like you're going to die just from buying some time. Did I tell you to go kill Shion?"
"Hee hee, I'm just giving you a preview. Anyway, operating in Beihai means we can't avoid Azure Cloud Sect, so let's just pray we don't encounter Shion and let me meet Lady Winter instead. Hey, will Lady Winter still remember me?"
The captain in the crystal ball spoke unpleasantly. "You're not thinking of switching sides to Azure Cloud Sect, are you?"
"Captain, what kind of talk is that?" Twins glared at him displeased. "I don't remember ever leaving Azure Cloud Sect. In the Witch Association I'm a witch, in Azure Cloud Sect I'm a Magical Girl. That's what Twins is."
"What exactly happened to you in Azure Cloud Sect?"
"Just worms that crawled out of some stinky mud, accidentally saw the sun, and then got burned so badly it was unbearable, ruining the rest of their lives."
Bathing in the dusk, Twins walked while reaching her hand toward the setting sun that was about to completely fall into the abyss, never to be seen again.
Gradually walking into the shadows, "I can't do anything about Azure Cloud Sect, but recently the Disaster Control Bureau has almost rotted from within. Yinluo's greatest contribution was taking her sister away. I'll start with the Disaster Control Bureau and capture all their Magical Girls. How's this plan, captain?"
"Do whatever you want."
"Then, can you tell me how to control Disaster Beasts?" Twins suddenly said. "Look at me, alone, with little power and no one to help me. Not like Yinluo—back then she at least had me to help her. Now I'm all alone, and you're busy creating killers, captain. I really need helpers. Having Disaster Beasts cause trouble is completely useless, so let me control them, okay?"
There was silence for a while on the other end, so Twins waved her hand. "If you don't want to, forget it. Stingy."
"You'd better not give it to Azure Cloud Sect."
Twins showed a smile: "Don't worry, don't worry."
"I'll definitely use it to bully the Disaster Control Bureau hard!"
.......
Beihai, Disaster Control Bureau.
Since the last attack, the Disaster Control Bureau had been in reconstruction.
Little sprites flying up and down were repairing the magical barriers around the Disaster Control Bureau.
The originally always quiet Disaster Control Bureau had quite a few visitors today, especially near the station, where a large bridge had been built directly connecting to the bureau headquarters.
All security guards were mobilized, forming lines at the station entrance and main entrance.
They looked more like a welcoming party than security guards.
Susan stood at the entrance, watching the welcome ceremony at the station with some boredom.
"Why do you look so impatient?"
Hearing Peony's question from beside her, Susan snorted coldly. "It's just personnel transferred from headquarters, yet they're making such a big show. And they specifically requested we prepare a welcome ceremony. This new director is putting on a big display as soon as she arrives—trying to intimidate us."
"Our performance this time was too poor. Not only did we lose the Miracle Seed, but we had a Witch Association member as an insider, and the captain candidate of the Magical Girl combat team got corrupted."
Peony counted on her fingers one by one. "I think headquarters was very lenient just demoting our director. Our bureau is a complete mess. Of course, before we had Azure Cloud Sect covering for us, we could just slack off and collect paychecks, but this time we can't cover it up..."
An ancient train sounded its whistle at the station.
The new director was someone nostalgic, so the bureau personnel discussed and overnight rebuilt an old train track, even bringing out long-retired trains specifically to welcome the new director.
Extremely sycophantic, one could say.
Peony watched the several Incubators dragging brooms in front of the train, flying desperately, and couldn't help but laugh.
The trains here ultimately couldn't fly—even with tracks, they needed Incubators and brooms to specifically pull them.
"Speaking of which, about Yinluo being the one who made you unable to transform—should we tell Captain Li Yi?"
"She's already dead."
Susan said expressionlessly. "No need to make things difficult for Li Yi."
"Just as I thought. Susan, still as gentle as ever." Peony seemed to have expected this. "Now Captain Li Yi should be like you—her Miracle Seed corrupted, unable to transform anymore. It was probably Yinluo's doing, right? So heartless, to do this to her own sister."
"Although she never intended to kill Li Yi."
Susan's tone was icy. "But from the beginning, she never wanted Li Yi to continue being a Magical Girl. Yinluo always believed her sister wasn't worthy of being a Magical Girl."
Peony sighed: "What does Susan think?"
Seeing her friend's gaze, Susan just looked up at the speeding train. "Silver Lotus was a qualified captain, she always was..."
When the train stopped, several security guards immediately threw confetti into the air, and some even set off fireworks.
Peony watched dumbfounded, then said somewhat awkwardly, "Our new director is a bit extravagant."
Susan rubbed her forehead in frustration.
With such a taste for pomp, Beihai's Disaster Control Bureau didn't have much funding for them to squander...
As the train stopped on the hill, the train door opened, and out walked a brightly dressed young girl dragging a small suitcase.
She wore light cyan casual clothes, a baseball cap, and sunglasses. As she stepped down, she naturally removed her sunglasses, revealing a pair of beautiful cyan eyes.
Flipping her hair, confident and radiant like a celebrity—her appearance certainly gave her reason for confidence.
Of course, beyond her appearance, greater confidence came from her strength.
"Magical Girls of the Disaster Control Bureau, hello! I'm Iris from headquarters, a Magical Girl, and from now on, your Magical Girl combat team captain."
Peony shook hands with her and smiled apologetically. "Sorry, we're not planning to change captains."
"But, Silver Lotus, captain of Beihai's Magical Girl combat team, has lost her transformation ability." Iris took out various messy documents from her small bag.
It was clear her bag was completely unorganized, a complete mess.
After a long while, she found the document she wanted. "Here, this one. Miracle Seed corrupted, Magical Girl Silver Lotus lost transformation ability, right?"
"Mm, that's correct." Peony continued, "But we believe Captain Silver Lotus will return."
"Generally speaking, she can't return." Putting her sunglasses back on, Iris smiled casually. "Forget it, you prefer your original captain, I don't mind. Just cooperate with my work."
'.....
After waiting for a while with no one else getting off the train, Peony looked back and found the train empty: "? Where's the director?"
"The director went to the city government first. She needs to discuss funding issues with them, so I came alone."
Susan rubbed her forehead. "The one who made us prepare the welcome ceremony this morning..."
"It was me, it was me, it was me." Taking off her baseball cap, Iris smiled brilliantly. "I'm a Blooming-level Magical Girl, after all. The welcome ceremony can't be too shabby. Of course, I know your Beihai Disaster Control Bureau is strapped, so I didn't request things like honor guards or choirs. Very considerate, right?"
Peony and Susan exchanged glances, both seeing the speechlessness in each other's eyes.
Dragging her suitcase, Iris strode toward the Disaster Control Bureau. "I heard before coming that Beihai's Disaster Control Bureau has weak capabilities. Of course, it's understandable—you've only been established in Beihai for three years, and then that Green... whatever sect organization got ahead of you, resulting in not being able to recruit Magical Girls. But being this incompetent was completely unexpected by headquarters."
Although it was infuriating to hear, they couldn't find any reason to refute it.
"Even the three Blooming seeds meant as insurance were lost by you. This is the first Miracle Seed theft incident in the Disaster Control Bureau's history. If I were you, I'd probably be so ashamed I'd resign."
As she walked, Iris criticized them the entire way.
Peony and Susan followed behind her, not taking it to heart.
After entering the Disaster Control Bureau, the two discovered that this Blooming-level Magical Girl was somewhat directionally challenged.
Even though the routes weren't complicated, she repeatedly walked into dead ends.
Both thought she was going to look at something—after all, who would think someone could get lost in just a few corridors?
But she actually could.
Acting so arrogant, yet couldn't even find her way...
Eventually, Peony had to walk in front to lead the way.
"I could actually find the way myself."
As if feeling somewhat embarrassed, Iris defended herself.
But of course, Susan and Peony couldn't be bothered to respond.
Iris just watched the numerous dynamic portraits of Magical Girls in the corridor, finally stopping before Kingfisher's, seeming somewhat nostalgic.
When fewer people were around, Iris said casually:
"Beihai's Witch Association isn't much either. Causing trouble for so long, not even many class B Disaster Beasts have appeared. Should I say it's the excellent matching mechanism of the region? Witch Associations in other areas are much more troublesome. Making me deal with this level of Witch Association feels somewhat embarrassing—isn't it too much like bullying them?"
Noticing the strange silence from the two girls, Iris turned her head to look at them. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." Susan maintained her expressionless face. "We've wronged you by having you come here."
"It's nothing. Just consider it a vacation. In North China, there are both Witch Associations and class A Disaster Beasts—it's exhausting every day."
Iris stretched. "Finally came to a safe place. Beihai is perfect for vacation. After quickly dealing with the Witch Association and Azure Cloud Sect, recovering the Miracle Seeds, you should take me to fun places in Beihai."
"Are you going to deal with Azure Cloud Sect?" Peony asked carefully. "I'm afraid it's not that simple."
"I don't have that much time either. Just capture their leader, the purple-haired Magical Girl, what's her name?"
"Shion."
"Mm mm, just capture Shion."
"With all due respect." Susan spoke indifferently from the side. "The number and strength of Azure Cloud Sect's Magical Girls will probably far exceed your imagination. Trying to capture Shion alone will be very difficult."
"Are you worried about me? Thank you, cool miss."
Susan's eyelid twitched. "My name is Susan."
"Oh oh, thank you for your concern, Miss Susan. But it's okay, please don't worry."
The Blooming-level Magical Girl revealed a brilliant and confident smile.
"I'm the strongest!"
