Starting as a Magical Girl, I Alone Shall Rule for Eternity Chapter 15
Above the Disaster Control Bureau building, structures rapidly reshaped—huge turrets extended from the floors, unleashing terrifying firepower upon the Disaster Beast.
In an instant, the sky itself was completely filled!
But when the smoke cleared, the crimson Disaster Beast remained unharmed and kept charging toward the four people falling from above.
It only gave a cold glance with its crimson eyes at the Disaster Control Bureau building, then opened its mouth and spewed out a terrifying stream of flame toward the structure.
A ripple of yellow light rose around the Bureau building, swallowing the flames.
It had to be some kind of Magical Girl magical barrier.
Even while falling, Jiang Si still had the presence of mind to monitor the Disaster Control Bureau building and the beast’s movements.
Disaster Beasts of class C and below can be wounded or even suppressed by modern weapons; though not killed, sufficient firepower can at least immobilize them.
But once they reach class B, modern weapons have little effect—only the power of Magical Girls can contend with them.
“Everyone be careful!”
Although breathing a gout of flame at the Bureau building had no effect, the Disaster Beast didn’t linger; it continued straight toward the four of them!
Over there, Silver Lotus shouted once, then abandoned her disguise and pulled out the Miracle Seed embedded in her keychain.
She raised it high, facing the colossal beast that pressed down like a mountain!
“Dance, illusionary cherry blossoms!”
“Transform!”
A flurry of pink petals instantly spun and fell around them, a tornado centered on Silver Lotus.
The Flame Bird—Jiang Si tentatively called this enormous Disaster Beast bird—slammed into the gathered petals and bounced back as if it had hit a spring. Its massive body was oddly repelled and flung away.
The transformation invincibility frame is the most practical and universal trait of Magical Girls.
At the moment of transformation one is immune to damage and can knock back nearby enemies.
The only pity is that transformations and reversion are limited—you can’t transform and untransform repeatedly without restriction, otherwise you could exploit the invincibility frame as a bug…
Countless petals whirled and converged, finally pooling onto Silver Lotus at the center.
Her pink dress had ornate ribbons; when they fluttered in the wind she looked like a blooming flower.
The blue butterfly on her head at first glance seemed alive, its wings quivering—but looking closely it was actually a bow.
After transforming, Silver Lotus didn’t bother with the knocked-back Disaster Beast; she spun and flew down faster, scooping up her older sister.
Although a bit far away, Jiang Si calculated the distance: with a single use of inertia in the air, he could get himself to Silver Lotus’ side.
He had chosen his fall spot carefully—right beside the towering ridge of the Disaster Control Bureau. The rock face was close; one kick would be enough.
A mere fall—his well-trained body wouldn’t betray him. But dropping at that speed would probably break some bones.
Not a big deal.
He took a deep breath, measured the distance, braced for bone-breaking pain, and was about to kick the mountain when his right hand was suddenly grabbed.
His descent slowed; the other person had fallen a fair distance to avoid their arm being torn off by inertia, and only then clutched him to a halt.
Jiang Si looked up and saw his sister, already transformed. Her fiery red ornate dress waved like burning flames as she rode a broom, lifting her chin with a cool expression and staring up at the beast.
Sprout-tier Magical Girls can’t fly, so the Disaster Control Bureau specially provided brooms for Sprout-tier girls.
Just infuse them with magic and you can control them—a convenient tool, and very Harry Potter.
“Could you not give me trouble?”
“Oh.”
The siblings’ exchange ended there.
Nearby, Silver Lotus—who had just rescued Yin Luo and was about to call for Jiang Keke’s help—turned and saw Keke had already grabbed Jiang Si, and immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Good thing Jiang Si had nothing else to do earlier and had taught Keke how to summon a broom.
In fact, the first thing every novice Magical Girl learns at the Bureau is broom summoning and control.
Besides, although the siblings spoke harshly to each other, they would still help when it mattered.
After all, they were family…
“Keke, take him to the platform first!”
“Got it, captain.”
The title came naturally.
Silver Lotus, a Seedling-tier Magical Girl who’s not that far from Blooming, didn’t need a broom to fly—she could fly on her own.
She hugged her sister and quickly reached the platform, carefully setting Yin Luo down. When she turned, she saw Keke nonchalantly toss the still-grabbing Jiang Si to the side of the platform; the boy nearly landed face-first.
If only her attitude were a little gentler…
No time to think further; the Disaster Beast above gave a high, piercing cry, spraying flames like molten rock!
Silver Lotus immediately drew her magic wand; countless petals formed a barrier in front of the station, blocking the incoming fireballs.
Although the Bureau had its own magical shield, the neighboring ridge began to tremble under the splashing flames.
“Keke, lure it out and take it to an uninhabited suburban area. Sister, after you send Jiang Si out, return to the Bureau at once to prepare. Jiang Si, once you’re out, don’t head into the suburbs—just go home and you’ll be safe!”
Transformed, Silver Lotus not only looked taller—her momentum became sharp and fierce.
Her clean, decisive speech had a bit of Su Shan’s essence. After giving orders to the three, she immediately flew toward the Disaster Beast with Keke.
Jiang Si glanced up at the decisive Silver Lotus and felt it odd.
She was completely different after transforming. He’d seen many Magical Girls in Azure Cloud Sect—none changed this much.
But transformations did affect height.
When he transformed into Shion, he shrank; when Silver Lotus transformed, she grew taller.
He wondered what rules governed that.
Lost in thought, he tilted his head to look at Yin Luo.
Since Silver Lotus left, the outwardly composed sister had been staring blankly in the direction her sister had flown.
“Not going?”
“Sorry, I was spacing out.” Coming back to herself, Yin Luo smiled apologetically and then led him, “She’s really amazing, my sister—don’t you think? It’s like she’s become a different person.”
“Mm.”
“She used to rely on me a lot. When she first became a Magical Girl, our family didn’t want her at the Bureau; they thought she should be in school. Silver Lotus came to me crying, begging me to help. She wanted to be a Magical Girl. Back then, no matter the trouble, she would confide in me, ask me for help.”
She spoke as if reminiscing alone.
Jiang Si felt she was a bit overly familiar.
As she continued, Yin Luo’s expression turned wistful. “Since she became a Magical Girl, she… gradually stopped relying on me. Silver Lotus got stronger and stronger. She used to follow behind me, but now I’m the one trying to catch up to her back. I can’t even keep up…”
“I also really want to become a Magical Girl.”
A little old to say that, perhaps.
Jiang Si glanced at her—Yin Luo looked to be in her twenties, though eighteen or nineteen could be argued from appearance. Jiang Si wasn’t skilled at judging age by looks.
Still, Yin Luo seemed a bit older.
Miracle Seeds usually choose younger bearers—mostly middle or high schoolers, sometimes older or younger, but the variance isn’t large.
It would be harder, though not impossible, for someone Yin Luo’s age to receive a Miracle Seed. If her wish were strong enough, she might still get one.
“Enough. Let’s not talk about this—an older sister being jealous of her younger sister is too ugly, don’t you think?”
“Nothing,” Jiang Si said lightly. “I have a sister too. A sister becoming a Magical Girl does make things feel risky.”
“Haha, but our troubles seem different—you and your sister’s relationship is even more antagonistic.”
Yin Luo walked to the middle wall between Platforms Nine and Ten and used the key to open a passage.
“All right, go quickly. Remember, don’t go to the suburbs. Be careful on the way.”
“Goodbye.”
At that, Yin Luo gave a wry smile. “Hopefully we’ll meet again.”
Jiang Si didn’t notice anything odd about her smile. After exiting Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, Yin Luo led him through a maze of turns before they finally left the path to the Bureau.
There must be a magical design—once you’ve come through with a guide, it’s possible to find it again, but without guidance, most people would be lost.
Not long after they emerged, he saw a streak of pink and red light cut across the sky.
Then the Flame Bird shot out from between the clouds.
It seemed the Bureau’s entrances weren’t limited to just that one location.
There were openings in the sky above too, but ordinary people probably couldn’t reach them.
Jiang Si took out the Miracle Seed, watching the gorgeous magic flow within, and gripped it tightly.
He could understand Yin Luo’s jealousy—without Magical Girls’ power, seeing a group of girls who could transform would make anyone envious.
A class B Disaster Beast hadn’t been encountered even once in three years; you can’t let one go.
The Grief Seed’s magic must be incredibly potent.
“We sent you straight into dealing with a class B on your arrival—sorry, Keke. Other team members are handling beasts elsewhere. I asked around; they truly can’t get here.”
“It’s fine.”
Keke gripped her broom hard; her hands were sweaty. “If I’m going to be a Magical Girl, I’m mentally prepared for this risk.”
“Well said!” Silver Lotus gave a thumbs-up. “Then let’s finish this guy! Support me, Keke, fly downward!”
“Yes, captain.”
Silver Lotus flew upward while Jiang Keke headed downward. The pursuing Disaster Beast paused for a moment.
Then, with a wingbeat, a pitch-black fissure tore down from its crown, quickly splitting its body in two.
Silver Lotus looked back, stunned—one would think something had slashed it apart.
But in the next moment, both severed halves erupted with roaring flames, each filling in the missing half as if wholes had been restored.
They had become two Flame Bird Disaster Beasts!
If that were all, it might be manageable. But the beasts showed little loss of vigor—the two split birds each retained class B strength!
Silver Lotus was chilled and immediately pressed on the petals, trying to get back toward Keke.
Her initial plan had been to split their attention so Keke could get out of range while she taunted the bird in a chase.
Keke would then support from a safe distance.
As a novice, Keke had little combat experience; facing a class B on her first mission was unreasonable. As captain and senior, Silver Lotus wanted to protect Keke as much as possible.
But the Flame Bird split into two equally powerful halves, wrecking Silver Lotus’s plan.
Instead it plunged Keke into danger!
Class B Disaster Beasts require experienced Seedling-tier Magical Girls to handle; Keke was only a Sprout and simply couldn’t manage.
“Keke, get back!”
Faced with the sudden change, Silver Lotus could only shout an urgent command. Keke did not hesitate and yanked on her broom to return to Silver Lotus, but the two Flame Birds were faster!
Silver Lotus, who could fly unaided and maneuver freely, was nimble and could dodge the birds easily.
Keke couldn’t—Sprout-tier girls don’t fly naturally, and although the broom let her barely fly, she was inexperienced. Even though she tried to dodge desperately, she was struck.
She tumbled. The broom, however, was surprisingly responsive and flew back above her. Keke, slowly recovering, grabbed the broom with her right hand; she swayed in the air, holding her wand in her left, unable to climb up immediately.
Below, the bird that had slammed down set the suburban woods ablaze.
The Bureau had warned that this area was uninhabited, so there was no risk to innocent people—yet the forest burned fiercely, and if ignored the wildfire could spread to the city.
Silver Lotus wanted to protect Keke, but the bird she had dodged took a turn overhead and plunged down again!
Blazing fire exploded behind it; even with a petal shield, Silver Lotus staggered and almost fell.
The pink petals wrapped around the bird behind her. Before the petals could all be burned, Silver Lotus clenched her fist toward the beast.
The petals pressed in on the Disaster Beast; flesh and flame burst outward.
Below, Keke looked up at her captain’s power and was shocked.
So strong.
Could she become like this too?
“Watch below! Keke!”
Only when Silver Lotus warned her did Keke snap back, looking down.
The bird that had crashed into the woods burst out again and hurtled toward her at top speed!
Too fast!
At the same time, the other bird that had been pressed by petals around Silver Lotus charged out. Though its fire had dimmed somewhat, it still latched onto Silver Lotus.
Because Silver Lotus’s supporting petals were still a couple meters above, the bird’s flames already reached Keke.
The heat made clothing scorch; Keke herself was a fire magic user.
But the flames she invoked with her wand looked tiny and ridiculous compared to the Disaster Beast before her.
The magic flame from her wand was instantly burned away.
She could only watch as the beast barreled into her…
Boom!
The Disaster Beast that had been rampaging fell like a meteor and slammed into the ground!
Only then did Silver Lotus’s pink petals reach and wrap around Keke, sheltering her.
Keke quickly used her wand to disperse the surrounding petals and looked ahead in surprise at the figure standing between her and the threat.
“Teacher Shion!”
