Chapter 412: Chapter 412
"You!" Baek Muheun strode forward and grabbed his son's shoulders. "I knew it! "What? You're fine? You're all better now? How dare you try to deceive your own father! You haven't kicked that lying habit about being sick since you were seven!"
Startled by the sight of his father's rare anger, Baek Suryong stepped back. "Ah, Dad, please calm down.
"How can I possibly calm down right now? I just heard that my son is dying!" His voice boomed thunderously, infused with inner arts.
The sound echoed so loudly that office doors throughout the building flew open. People peered out, staring at the father and son in surprise.
"Mr. Baek Suryong is dying?"
"No way. That's impossible."
"But didn't he just say that?"
Gongson Yeong, who had been listening nearby, wore a grave expression. Meanwhile, Hyonwon Kang, who was being scolded by Namgung Su, stood at the door, looking dazed.
Faced with the many gazes directed at him, Baek Suryong looked indignant. "No, I'm telling you, I'm perfectly fine!"
"Everyone, please calm down," Ja Hyeon said calmly, despite being the cause of this whole affair. She stopped Baek Muheun , saying, "The patient's condition won't improve just because his family gets upset."
"Hey, who are you calling a patient?"
"My apologies. How is my son right now?" Baek Muheun asked politely, taking a step back as instructed.
Owing to his sick wife and son, he had met countless physicians throughout his life. He could tell at a glance that Ja Hyeon was exceptional.
Ja Hyeon sighed softly and looked around. "It would be best if we moved to another location. This doesn't seem like a matter we should discuss here."
The expressions of those around them grew even more somber. Just how serious was it for her to say that?
Baek Suryong was the only one who felt bewildered. Is my condition really that bad?
Ultimately, his father dragged him back to the White Dragon Manor without giving him a chance to tidy up his desk properly.
Baek Suryong lay quietly in bed, with Baek Muheun, Ja Hyeon, and Gongson Yeong standing around him.
This is driving me crazy.
Of course, it wasn't by his own will. He had changed into patient's clothes and been forced into bed as soon as he entered the room, all due to his father's menacing glare.
"This is suffocating..." he groaned, trying to subtly kick off the blanket.
"Ahem! Can't you stay still!" Baek Muheun glared and pulled it back up to his neck.
Meanwhile, Ja Hyeon examined Baek Suryong's complexion and checked the inside of his mouth. She flipped his eyelids and plucked a few strands of his hair to inspect them closely.
She also tapped various parts of Baek Suryong's body with an unfamiliar tool and listened to the sounds. She carefully pressed his acupoints several times as well.
She does seem to be a skilled physician.
Faced with her examination, which was so careful it was almost reverent, Baek Suryong couldn't dare to complain and had no choice but to wait quietly.
Having finished her examination, Ja Hyeon let out a small sigh. She explained Baek Suryong's condition to the two people watching her with worried eyes. "Due to repeated overexertion, fatigue has accumulated in his body. In a way, it's a common symptom, but I've never seen a case this severe."
Everyone in the room listened intently to Ja Hyeon's words. Baek Suryong also watched her with a reluctant expression.
"An ordinary person relieves fatigue by getting enough rest when they overexert themselves. However, martial artists are different. They circulate qi in their bodies through meditation to recover from fatigue and heal tense muscles and damaged acupoints through methods like Body Purification. However, that method isn't a cure-all. It only artificially helps speed up recovery..." Ja Hyeon stared at Baek Suryong with a reproachful gaze. "I've heard that the Azure Dragon Hero is a great master. You must be more proficient than anyone in the methods I mentioned earlier."
"Well..." Baek Suryong nodded. He recovered from internal injuries and fatigue through meditation and loosened his tense muscles with the Eighteen Strikes of the Viridian Forest. By doing just that, he rarely felt any fatigue.
Isn't this something everyone does? Why are they reacting ?
"Let me ask you this. Are you sleeping something like two hours a day?"
"Um..." Baek Suryong couldn't answer. He did in fact only sleep for two hours a day, and four at most. Google seaʀᴄh novel★fire.net
As if she had expected it, Ja Hyeon sighed softly. No matter how much of an iron man a martial artist might be, Baek Suryong's case was far too extreme. "If you use your body so recklessly, even the world number one master would collapse. What's more, as you yourself know, you have a very rare constitution."
"Suryong." Baek Muheun tightly gripped his son's hand. He knew better than anyone that his son's constitution was akin to an incurable disease.
So this is why he was looking for the Divine Physician...
Gongson Yeong also looked at Baek Suryong with a deeply pitiful expression, as if she never expected to hear such a thing.
"I had only heard about it from my master. This is the first time I've actually met someone with this constitution." Ja Hyeon looked at Baek Suryong with an expression of disbelief. She had checked several times, wondering if she had misdiagnosed him, but it was certain. The Azure Dragon Hero definitely had the Heavenly Yin Severed Meridians.
"It's definitely the Heav..."
[Stop, there are too many listening ears,] Baek Suryong interrupted.
Ja Hyeon shut her mouth. Fortunately, she tactfully changed her words. "It is a very special constitution, rare in this world."
"Is there no way to fix it?" Baek Muheun looked at Ja Hyeon with a desperate expression. Ever since his son was young, he had sought out countless physicians known as masters of medicine. However, most of them couldn't even figure out the reason for his weak body, let alone treat it. He was unconsciously resigning himself to the same outcome this time...
Ja Hyeon hesitated for a moment before answering, "It's not that there's no way."
Not only Baek Muheun but also Baek Suryong was surprised by her words. It was surprising enough that she identified the Heavenly Yin Severed Meridians with a single examination, but to think she also knew a method of treatment.
She's not the student of the Divine Physician for nothing.
Ja Hyeon continued carefully, "However, it won't be easy. "Many preparations are needed to change his constitution, and even then, I can't guarantee success. I've never done it myself, so..."
"Just knowing there's a possibility is enough!" Baek Muheun looked ready to bow to Ja Hyeon. He would have, too, if she hadn't looked so uncomfortable.
"Dad, please calm down." Baek Suryong soothed his father and sat up. Sighing, he called to those outside. "You kids outside. I know you're there. Stop hiding."
The students loitering outside the room and eavesdropping on the conversation flinched. They thought they were being careful, but there was no way they could have avoided being noticed by Baek Suryong.
"You're not seriously ill, are you?"
Is there anything we can do to help?"
"We didn't even know..."
The students were sniffling, and some looked nearly in tears.
Baek Suryong let out a deep sigh and reassured them. "Didn't you just hear? The physician said there's a way to treat it."
The students seemed to cool down slightly.
Before he could say anything else, though, Mae Geuklyom's voice boomed from outside the White Dragon Manor, "SURYONG, YOU RASCAL!"
The door flew open so violently that there was a risk of it flying off its hinges. Mae Geuklyom emerged, panting heavily and looking as if he were about to pass out. Despite his own serious internal injuries, he hurried to the White Dragon Manor, limping and using his sword as a cane.
Coming closer, he grabbed his grandson's face with both hands and examined his complexion. "I heard you collapsed while coughing up blood! Are you okay?"
"How on earth did the rumor spread like that!?" Baek Suryong broke into another sweat explaining the situation to Mae Geuklyom.
"So, you're saying it can be cured?"
Faced with everyone's desperate gazes, Ja Hyeon looked troubled. As a physician, she couldn't lie. "I'll do my best, but I can't promise anything..."
"I know a surefire way to cure it," Baek Suryong cut in.
Everyone's eyes widened as they stared at him.
"That's why I was trying to find the Divine Physician," he added. With a sigh, he explained why he had been looking for the Divine Physician.
I didn't think things would get this big.
He didn't use the term 'Heavenly Yin Severed Meridians' for fear that the Blood Cult might catch wind of it, but he explained his condition in considerable detail. Naturally, it was revealed that Ja Hyeon was the Divine Physician's disciple, a fact that seemed to bring everyone relief.
"I thought something terrible was going to happen."
"Of course. There's no way our teacher would die."
"Physician! Please treat him quickly!"
Baek Suryong let out a small laugh at the sight of the students who had come into the room and were now looking at him hopefully. He turned to Ja Hyeon. "Physician, I'm ready. I'll tell you the method so you can start right away."
"No." Ja Hyeon shook her head firmly, to everyone's puzzlement. She explained, "First, if you don't regain your vitality, your body won't be able to withstand any procedure. As a physician, I cannot allow you to receive treatment in your current state."
"Azure Dragon Hero, you must rest without moving for at least seven days."
"Seven days? How about just one day..." Baek Suryong muttered, planning to negotiate.
Unfortunately, the people around him vehemently took the physician's side.
"Do as the physician says!"
"Don't come to work for a while and get plenty of rest. I will speak to the Principal."
The slowly approaching adults unnerved him with their gazes, but the students took it a step further.
"Did you hear that? She said to rest for seven days, but he only wants to rest for one?"
"Workaholism at that level is an incurable disease..."
"Let's just tie him up so he can't do anything."
Led by Hyonwon Kang, the students stared at Baek Suryong with crazed eyes.
Panicking, he scanned the room. "Wait, just a minute! There's no need for this, is there? If I rest for seven days, what will happen to my work? One day, no, two days of good rest is enough..."
"One day, my ass! Get him!"
No one sided with Baek Suryong.
A thorough surveillance and strict sanctions were put in place for the sake of making Baek Suryong rest.
"You must monitor this man with extreme vigilance to ensure that he doesn't work in secret or sneak out of his room. Can you do that?"
""Yes, Mr. Ak!"" The Five Young Azure Dragons responded with a thunderous roar and immediately began their surveillance.
They weren't alone. The other group leaders from Baek Suryong's class, including Dokgo Jun, Tang Soso, Yoo Yiran, and Mok Hyungwoo, came and began taking turns standing guard around the White Dragon Manor.
That wasn't the end of it. Baek Suryong's fellow instructors also arrived in shifts to establish a flawless surveillance network and prepare for a potential escape attempt.
Ak Yeonho solemnly warned the students on guard duty, emphasizing the importance of staying alert at all times. "Your opponent is the notorious workaholic Baek Suryong. Confiscate all writing materials in the White Dragon Manor and burn the books!"
"If we burn them, there will be consequences..."
Baek Suryong was utterly dumbfounded. The same forces that had thwarted the Deathshroud assassins were now being used to watch over him. To make matters worse...
"Why did you cast a spell on someone else's room without permission?!"
A spell had been cast over his entire bedroom, one that would sound an alarm if he took even a single step outside without permission. Needless to say, this was the Divine Azure Dragon Sword's handiwork.
[You've brought this upon yourself. Everyone is trying so hard for the sake of your health, so I have no choice but to cooperate fully.]
Baek Suryong clenched his teeth. He wasn't one to stay put. Soon, he made several escape attempts and tried hiding writing materials under his blanket.
Sadly, a very tenacious and thorough Baek Muheun found them all.
"I'm telling you, I don't have time for this! I have a mountain of work to do right now!"
"Enough. Try this restorative medicine that the Beggars' Gang sent. It smells quite savory and nice."
Baek Suryong screamed in despair as he watched the pile of restorative medicines in his room grow day by day.
There's no getting through to these bastards! I'd rather be tortured, damn it!
