Chapter 21: Chapter 21

Adam and I are in his kitchen, cooking paella for our dinner date. It was so fun seeing him cook, "How did you learn this, Adam?"

"What, cooking?"

"Yea." I put some chorizo in my mouth and chew.

"Well, because of the restaurants, I guess. I taste them, so I cook them." I choked on the chorizo so I hit my chest a couple of times. That easy? What is he, a gourmet chef? It was awesome to think of but I was dying, so Adam got me some glass of water, laughing at the side. I gulped the water and put the glass down.

"I guess, you're the coolest I have ever seen." He snorted at my words and I just helped him cook. As I did, Adam kept kissing my cheek every once in a while as I chop the ingredients. When we are done, we laid the food and placed some wine at the table.

"Here goes our dinner date." I clapped and he placed a candle in the middle of it, grinning at me.

"What I ate earlier was the most delicious though." He winked at me and I blushed, I know what he ate. I shook my head and we started to dine. As we ate, I was like in a fancy restaurant, we did a good job in the paella. Especially with Adam pioneering it all. We talked about some small things, and since this is a date, we didn't dwell with a lot of serious stuff, but just a couple of small talks, and smiles. We washed the dishes right after we ate, and sat on the sofa together, with his head, laying on my chest. We stare silently outside, him holding my hand to his lips, and my other hand brushing his silver-gray hair.

"We can hop countries next time for our date if you want." He mumbled and I let out a calm chuckle.

"Anywhere with you is fine with me. But we can tag along with our friends, like Natalie, so Zach won't be alone." I joked.

"We can do that." What? Did he seriously just agree on it? He really is a softie and a kind one. "I don't want Zach stalking on our moments, so he better has someone to be with. He is a dumbass." Okay, I take it back. I just snort at him and we fell silent once again. The night was so peaceful and I'm kind of happy about how my life happened right now. If the shootout never happened, would it still be like this? I embraced Adam and he scoot to face me, his body lying beside me on the sofa with his face on my chest. "I love you, Adam."

He propped his elbow on the sofa to look at me, brushing his thumb on my cheek. "I love you so much too." He whispered. He planted a kiss on my forehead and he was about to kiss me again when a loud thud startled the both of us. "Eve, get down the sofa." He whispered wearily and stood up without any sound from his feet.

"What is going on?" I mouthed at him and he placed his forefinger on top of his lips to tell me not to make a sound. My heart suddenly stopped when the loud thud repeated, but this time, the door got destroyed. Adam's hand suddenly summoned an ice-like spear on his hand, from out of nowhere and threw it at the door. "Eve! Stand close to me!" I immediately got up and hid behind Adam and gasp at what is at the door.

"What is that!?" A huge dog-like creature with spiky skin laid on the door, skewered by the spear that Adam threw.

"It's one of those mutts that my father sent. We'll need to go out of here." He pulled me close and after I blink we were already outside. Another one of those things was about to launch at as but Adam threw it away just by the force field that his hand emitted. What is going on? I was panicking as many of the creatures appeared from thin air, they are like hiding under the road, some in the electric post, and I don't know anymore. "You're gonna be okay, love. These things are nothing."

An electric ball formed on Adam's palm and it turned into a whip. "Wow..."

He enclosed me into a ball-like structure like plasma before he steps away to fight all the monsters at once. When he hit them, they turn into crisp ashes and he was so fast, that most of his movements happen in a second. I don't understand any of the things that are happening but I was amazed by it. I shouldn't feel this way though; they are out to kill us! I was starting to drown in my own fear when Adam grabbed me and we run. "Don't look back." He said as he swept me off my feet, but I did look back, and there are still some of those that are chasing us. My heart was thumping out loud and it was out of my fear. Adam stopped in his tracks and each became devoured with flames and I watched them disappear. "Why are they so many?"

"They are not many, they reform themselves."

My eyes widened and I looked back at the monsters as Adam runs, oh my god. The ashes that they turned into are like being summoned into one center until they are whole again. "What can kill them?"

"You'll see later; we have to go to a safer place." Thompson appeared in front of us through smoke, he's also a demon! and he nodded at Adam, and we left him standing in the middle of the street, good thing, it's midnight, people aren't around anymore. In a blink, we teleported into a field. "We should just go to my house..." My stomach was starting to churn from anxiety but he placed his palms on my cheek. "Don't be scared, we're gonna be okay." The warmth of his palms aided my freezing body and I nodded. "We aren't safe in closed spaces. I know my father, if he sends those mutts, he will surely send something bigger."

"Bigger?" I gulped. Adam stood a little bit away and hold out his hand to the air. Little floating circles start circling his hand and each was forming intersecting line that looks like some kind of a spell. What is that? Once the spell circle was complete, a portal opened, and he puts his hand inside to get a thing. The scene was so majestic that it felt like I was watching a movie. He pulled out a black sword and it was shiny, there are shadows inhabiting it, and as he held it, the shadows turned violet, and the portal was gone. I got my mouth opened the whole time and when he spots me, he let out a smile.

"There he is." What he?

A blue portal cuts through the air, and coming out from it was a giant creature wearing huge armor. It was dark, and he had no face because of the helmet that covers his head. "Who is that?"

"General."

"Prince Ace... look like you found your princess." A voice of three echoed in the creature's voice, a woman, a man, and an old man's voice, and it was eerie to hear. He was like possessed by many individuals and me back away a little bit. This is a big problem. The creatures turn to look at me and as I squint my eyes, it wasn't the armor that covers him, it was the skin of the creature! It was like a shell.

"My father won't stop, huh?"

"Not until you get home, Prince Ace. But I am not here on his order."

"What do you mean?" Adam was talking to the creature and I just watch them, and they look inanimate.

"The demon hunter was hired by your father and he is already tracking you down. Your father had a change of heart, he wanted the girl to be brought to him alive."

"What the fuck is he thinking?" Adam pulled me to him and I held on tight, that is bad news, really bad news, I don't want him to kill me again.

"I didn't know. But I cannot go back to our world now and that's because he will kill me for this warning that I heed to you. I may be a monster, but I am not with your father and his ways, especially when the princess saved my life before." What is he talking about?

"Saved his life?" I whispered and Adam nodded.

"Thank you, Orion." Adam nodded at the creature, at Orion, and he steps away from the portal, and each of his steps is a thud on the ground. I suddenly felt queasy, and then I felt it, the wind has changed. "Adam, something's coming." I was trembling and my hands were very cold for just a second. Adam tugged me away then lifted his hand immediately, blocking an arrow with his force field. A silhouette was walking towards us and when he appeared, a long-haired blonde man appeared, holding his bow, his face wearing a smile.

"No hard feeling, Ace. I was paid for the girl." His golden eyes set on me and then he was just gone. Adam teleported me away from them, and now they were fighting. The man's bow turned into a double-edged sword, and they were dancing in the field, swaying their swords at one another. "Adam..." I am scared. I don't want Adam to get hurt, but if I just surrender myself, I don't know what will happen to the twins either.

"You cannot get away." A voice popped into my head and then the man with the bow was already in front of me, with an evil glint across his eyes. "Hi." Adam teleported me to him and I clung to his body.

"You will never touch her." He warned and I just wanted to burst down in tears and lie down unconscious but no. The man was just smiling and Adam and I turned around when Zach shouted.

"Eva!" We turned to him and see a metal spear about strike the both of us, but Zach controlled the spear and threw it in the direction where it was from, a creature double our size appeared walking and he sure was creepy. Zach was suddenly beside me and both of them are looking at their own enemies. Where is Orion now? "We need to get her away, Ace. This isn't a safe place for her!" Zach said eagerly which made me even more nervous.

"What's going to happen now?" I mumbled, terrified of the situation. Their enemies look serious.

"Adam is going to take you someplace safe first, Eve, I'll fight them." Zach smiled but I refuse.

"What? No!" I argued. Adam was just silent, making it seem that it's the only way.

"I'll be okay; I'll meet you at the place." Adam suddenly flew his feet after a simple nod, carrying me with him. Zach remained and I saw him pin down the arrow man with something I haven't seen before, but they were like rods, but as he did, the giant run to him. "Zach!" I shouted, and everything happened so fast. He evaded the first attack but the second one, Zach was penetrated by the huge weapon, and I saw it skewer him. My heart was breaking at how fast the thing is happening, and I cried, "No! Adam put me down!" He did what I said but I was already crying, and Adam's face was serious as well.

"Protect her, Orion." What?

Adam pushed me inside the portal ad he closed it, and just like the world played in slow motion, I was falling in the middle of nowhere and the last thing I ever saw was his bright blue eyes, staring at me as I did.

I dropped down in the middle of I don't know where, but it was so dark and I couldn't see anything so I just sobbed. I feel so helpless, I felt so weak, I can't even save them. Zach... Adam... I stood up and my vision became clearer, this is Zach's apartment. My tears kept streaming as I walk to find the lights. My knees felt very weak and I fell to the floor.

"Princess Eve." Multiple voices appeared inside the room and I looked at the surrounding.

"Orion?" I croaked and then a small figure came to approach me. A German Shepherd? The dog seemed larger than the usual size of a real dog and my eyes just kept staring at it as it draws near. "Is that... you?"

The dog sat down and it was listening attentively, "Yes, princess." It spoke in my mind like Zach...

"How did you become a dog?" I wiped my tears away, and spoke with Orion in dog's form, he looks adorable this way. His tail started wagging and he went near me, so he could just sit down.

"Morphing abilities, princess." I slowly pat its head and it wagged its tail.

"Orion... I don't know what to do... I saw Zach hurt, and I don't know if Adam is going to be okay."

"You have to be strong, this is only the beginning of what might occur. That's the only thing I can say." It didn't make me any less stressed than how I am right now, so I just sat down with Orion in the dark—thinking about Zach, Adam, the curse, my life, and what might happen next.
