Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Congratulations, You’re A Parent Now!
The doctors remained still, still unable to comprehend what Fauna had just revealed.
It didn’t make sense—none of it did.
About a decade ago, when Fauna’s breakthroughs had revolutionized medicine, she hadn’t only been producing new medicines and serums that could save countless lives—she’d also been introducing new medical machines and diagnostic technologies that changed everything.
Operations that once took hours were suddenly completed in minutes.
Surgeries that had once been life-threatening became almost routine.
Entire medical curriculums were rewritten to include the use of her machines.
Every doctor, young and old, had to relearn their craft because Fauna’s devices had completely replaced the old ways.
Even more astonishing was the pace of it all.
Every week a new device was released—one for the heart, one for neural calibration, another for mana filtration. Week after week, new miracles appeared, shaking the medical world to its core.
The world had assumed that Lady Fauna herself was the one behind these inventions—until she had told them there was ’someone else, a genius engineer’ working behind the scenes.
Rumors spread like wildfire.
Some believed it was an ancient war scientist from the old era who had returned from hiding. Others thought it was a divine being—a demi-race intellect born from the convergence of worlds.
Whoever it was, that mysterious inventor had become a legend, known only as the Architect.
And now, to hear that the same boy standing before them—the one who looked barely out of adolescence—was that person.
It shattered every belief they’d ever held.
While the staff stared through the observation window in utter disbelief, Mika adjusted the resonance generator with quick, practiced precision before finally pressing a final key.
Hmmm!
The moment he did, the generator emitted a low hum, and suddenly the entire room was bathed in a soft, blue glow. The walls shimmered, the air thickened with energy, and faint motes of light drifted through the space like falling dust.
Cecilia’s eyes widened. "Mika—what did you just do?! Is that supposed to happen?!"
He smiled faintly, brushing a few glowing drops of sweat from his forehead.
"Don’t worry. I didn’t screw anything up."
He glanced at the glowing field surrounding them.
"I’ve just completely replicated the Astria Highlands environment. The same air density, mana composition, and atmospheric balance. Now, the baby won’t reject the world anymore, it’ll adapt naturally. When it’s born, it’ll breathe without distress."
Cecilia’s face lit up with awe. "You mean...she’s going to make it?"
"Let’s hope so." Mika’s eyes softened. "We’ll only celebrate once the baby’s out safely."
Just then, a desperate cry pierced through the hum of machines.
"She’s coming!" The mother gasped, voice trembling with agony. "I—I can’t hold it anymore! She’s coming out!"
Mika’s tone snapped into command.
"Cecilia! Support her!"
"Yes!"
Cecilia rushed to the bedside, gripping the mother’s trembling hand tightly.
"It’s alright, ma’am." She said gently, her voice filled with determination. "Everything’s going to be fine now. Your baby will come out perfectly healthy. Just a little more—just be strong. You’re about to hold her in your arms."
The woman’s tear-filled eyes met hers, and she nodded weakly, clinging to Cecilia’s words as if they were lifelines.
Outside, the father had his hands clasped together in silent prayer, his eyes fixed on the glowing room.
Fauna stood behind him, feeling pity for the man but also having absolute confidence that everything will go alright since Mika was on the case.
Inside, Mika had already moved lower towards the birthing area, his focus absolute.
"Contraction frequency increasing." He murmured. "Good...keep breathing, slowly. Don’t fight the pain, just follow it."
And as the women followed Mika’s words, the baby’s head began to crown again—but this time, the skin didn’t turn blue.
The sensors showed steady readings. The heart monitor beeped rhythmically, strong and constant.
Everyone watching held their breath.
Cecilia’s eyes shimmered with tears as she felt the baby’s head move further out.
"Mika...it’s working." She whispered.
"Good." He gave a faint nod. "Keep her steady. Don’t let go."
"Ahhhhh! Haughhh!" The mother screamed, the raw sound echoing through the chamber.
The pain was unbearable, her voice cracked, her body trembling.
But beneath it all was determination.
The desire to see her child.
"Push." Mika commanded softly, his voice cutting through the chaos. "You’re almost there. Just one more."
"Haaaaah! Haaaaah!"
Her cries built, rising like thunder. The room seemed to shrink with every sound. Even the glowing machines around them seemed to hold their breath.
"Come on..." Cecilia whispered, clutching her hand tighter. "Come on, little one. Just a bit more..."
The baby’s shoulders emerged.
Then the chest.
Then half the body.
The sensors screamed warnings, flickering red for a split second—
—and Mika’s hand shot forward, stabilizing the mana field before it could collapse.
"Hold the flux!" He barked. "Now, push! One final push! Push as if your life is on the line!"
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!"
The mother screamed one final time—long and piercing, a sound that tore through every heart in the room—
—and then it happened.
A small, weak gasp.
"Ah!"
Followed by a single, trembling cry.
"Waaaaa! Waaaaa! Waaaaa!"
For a long moment, no one moved.
The world seemed to have gone still.
The mother looked down sweating, the father looked like he was going to faint, the doctors clutched each other, Fauna’s heart raced and Cecilia’s breathing raced until—
—Mika smiled faintly and lifted his hands up into the air.
And in his palms, the newborn, tiny and fragile rose up moving around here and there, while crying her heart out from being exposed to the outside world.
The sight stunned everyone watching through the glass—how effortlessly he held her, her small form swaddled in a faint glow of mana as though the very air cradled her too.
Mika then didn’t hesitate and turned toward the exhausted woman lying on the table, tears pooling at the corners of her eyes and said with a smile,
"Congratulations...You’re now the mother to a adorable and healthy baby girl!"
For a heartbeat, she couldn’t believe it.
Then the mother broke—sobbing uncontrollably, trembling from exhaustion and joy as she reached weakly toward her child.
"My baby!...My baby girl!"
Outside, the father’s knees buckled the instant he heard the words. He almost collapsed completely if not for the nurses who caught him just in time.
He was crying too—loudly, helplessly—mumbling.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you..." over and over, until his voice broke.
It wasn’t just the parents who were breaking down, the doctors who had been watching in tense silence also suddenly exploded into cheers.
"Yes! Yes!" One shouted, slamming a hand against the glass.
"Let’s go! Let’s fucking go!" Yelled another, old enough to be Fauna’s senior but now grinning like a boy who’d just scored a victory in some impossible game.
Even the nurses were laughing and crying all at once. The entire ward filled with a euphoric feeling, a symphony of tears, laughter, and disbelief.
Fauna, however, stood still. She wasn’t cheering. She was just smiling—a proud, soft smile—her eyes shining with the kind of pride only a mother could feel.
She looked around at everyone in that room, all of them glowing with relief, and thought to herself that every single one of them had just shared something divine.
Meanwhile, inside the glowing room, Cecilia found herself walking forward, each step slow and hesitant, as if she was approaching something sacred.
Mika noticed her, smiled faintly, and turned the baby slightly toward her.
"She’s beautiful, isn’t she?"
Cecilia’s lips trembled. "Y-Yeah." She stammered, voice breaking. "She’s...she’s beautiful."
Mika chuckled softly. "Do you know who made this possible?"
She blinked at him, confused. "Who...?"
He smiled wider. "You."
Her eyes widened, stunned. "M-me?"
"Yes." He said simply. "You were a part of this. A part of this miracle—the creation of life. Without your hands, your courage, your focus, this moment wouldn’t exist." He leaned in slightly. "So tell me, Cecilia—what do you feel right now?"
Her breath hitched. The tears she’d been holding back finally spilled over as she looked down at the small, crying child.
"I feel..." She whispered, voice trembling. "...happy. I’m just...so happy right now."
She let out a quiet laugh through her tears.
"I had doubts before...I thought maybe I wasn’t meant to be a doctor. But after this...I know now. This—This is what I was meant to do. This is who I’m supposed to be."
Mika smiled softly at that, his expression filled with quiet pride. Then he gently handed the baby back into his arms and said.
"Then finish it."
"Finish it?" She blinked in confusion.
"Cut the cord." He nodded toward the umbilical cord.
"Oh—right!" Cecilia quickly wiped her tears, grabbed the sterilized scissors, and leaned forward with shaking hands.
With one clean snip—the sound crisp and final—the connection was cut.
Outside, Fauna exhaled deeply and signaled the rest of the staff.
"You may go back in." She said with a proud smile.
The doors slid open, and the medical team rushed inside once more, now moving with laughter and relief.
Nurses took the newborn gently from Mika, wrapping her in a soft white blanket and carrying her over to be cleaned and checked.
Other doctors surrounded the mother, checking her vitals, reassuring her that everything was fine.
Mika smiled faintly, washing his hands at the sink, before he turned toward the exit and stepped out quietly—only to be pulled into a sudden, warm embrace.
A soft voice whispered against his chest, trembling with emotion.
"I’m so proud of you, Mika...I’m so proud of you."
It was Fauna. Her arms were tight around him, her head buried against his shoulder. Her voice shook with tears she refused to let fall.
"There are no words to describe how proud I am of you....Y-You’re the greatest gift the heavens ever gave me."
Mika blinked, a little flustered, before letting out a small laugh. He gently patted her back.
"Hey, don’t say stuff like that out loud." He said teasingly. "If Anya heard you, she’d get super jealous."
Fauna giggled softly but didn’t let go.
"Anya gets my love and coddling every day." She said with a quiet chuckle. "But you? I hardly get to hold you anymore. So let me have this one moment."
Mika sighed with a faint smile, giving up as he let her hold him longer.
They stayed like that for a while—teacher and student, mother and son in all but blood—until Mika finally said, his voice gentle.
"The baby’s safe now, but she still needs to be stabilized. Her body has to acclimate to this world’s environment and I was wondering if you could tell the doctors inside what to do."
"Of course, Mika. I’ll take it from here."
Fauna nodded and released him at last, wiping her eyes.
"You go and rest. You’ve earned it."
"Don’t work too hard." He said with a soft grin.
"Coming from you?" She chuckled. "That’s rich."
Fauna returned to the operating room, immediately heading toward the newborn with a soft, delighted gasp.
"Oh my goodness." She murmured, looking down at the baby. "You’re even cuter than I imagined!"
Her voice softened as she began issuing instructions to the doctors and nurses, who obeyed instantly, still overwhelmed by everything they’d witnessed.
Mika, meanwhile, walked out quietly toward the hallway. Near the glass wall, he saw the father still leaning against it, his tear-streaked face glowing with awe as he watched his wife and child.
Mika walked up beside him, gave a small smile, and patted his back.
"Congratulations." He said softly.
The man turned instantly, voice breaking with emotion.
"Thank you...Thank you so much! You—you saved them! I don’t even know how to—"
But when he blinked, Mika was gone.
The man turned around frantically, but all that was left was the faint echo of his words.
Down the hall, in one of the empty patient rooms, Mika quietly slipped inside. He then let out a long sigh and fell backward onto the bed, arms spread wide, the soft sheets rustling beneath him.
The world outside was still celebrating, but for him, everything went still.
He wasn’t planning on assisting in giving birth today but it seems like fate really wanted him to be a midwife today.
But still the adrenaline of pulling out a baby was making him a little drowsy so he closed his eyes, exhaustion finally washing over him.
But just then—
Brrrr! Brrrr! Brrrr!
He heard his phone vibrating and when he pulled out his phone he couldn’t help but smile since it was Yelena who was video-calling him.
