Chapter 403: Chapter 403

"How about we test your device!" Adam snarled with undisguised rage in his voice. His hand lashed out, grabbing Jeremy by the throat and easily lifting him off the ground, his half brothers feet kicking helplessly in the air as he struggled for breath.

Arachne didn't try to dissuade him either. She too was enraged by the mans careless and disgusting words. He didn't understand how the man she had chosen had allowed his own offspring to rot and fester .

At first she had agreed to Adam's plan to destroy his family out of curiousity and amusement from the madness that raged within him. However, the more time she spent with him inside of his mind, the more she realized that her connection to him went deeper than that.

She had been young and foolish back then, heading to another mortal world to explore and raise a little havoc. Never did she expect to fall in love with a man. Rather it was more that she fell in love with his own unique 'brand' of madness.

His entire being had been dedicated to the betterment of humanity through science. His madness was pure and intended for the good of all. It lacked greed and was entirely selfless. Arachne had to admit that she had found herself attracted to him.

He had been married then and had children by the time she met him. However, his wife was already out of the picture. Their marriage had been tumultuous at best and they remained separated despite still being married on paper.

The time that she had spent with Adam's father was brief in her eyes but it had been magical. Adam was a product of their whirlwind love and Arachne hadn't regretted it for a second. However, all good things did have to come to an end. ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ novel※fire.net

Arachne's divinity had acted like a poison to her mortal vessel. It wore her down day by day, week by week and year by year. Arachne had passed it off as being naturally frail but she had known that her time in that world was limited.

When her mortal vessel closed its eyes for the last time back then, she had thought that was the end of it. A Happy dream to comfort her in the isolation and boredom that came with being a Goddess. She had closed her eyes, as countless years passed by for her. Never did she expect that the world she was in had a different time axis. What had been countless centuries for her had only been 12 years or so.

What had happened in that twelve years that shaped her child and warped his father puzzled Arachne to no end. Seeing the invention that one of his children had made and the attitude and behaviour of his other children, it became abundantly clear to her that Adam was right. The Family that he had built needed to be torn down.

Melanie was caught off guard by Adam's sudden outburst. If she had known that Jeremy was going to be so foolish, she would have crushed him herself so she could get closer to Adam.

While she was impressed by his strength, she was filled with a sense of dsiappointment that he had not relied on her. Jeremy glanced at Melanie, his eyes begging for her help but she refused to even look at him, as if he wasn't worth a second of her time.

Not willing to die at Adam's hand , he reached an arm out and a sword appeared in his hand, which he swung as hard as he could on Adam's outstrecthed arm.

Penny's and Melanie's expression twisted the moment the swrod materialized and Melanie burst forward in an attempt to stop the sword but she wasn't able to close the distance in time. The blade cleaved through Adam's arm and Jeremy dropped to the ground, as Adam's forearm dropped to the ground with a light thud.

Jeremy expected Adam to scream in pain. He wanted to hear it. No, he wanted to hear the agony of his cries as he slowly bled out there in his office. However, he realized with horror that there was no noise except for the wordless shout from Penny and Melanie.

Adam glanced at the stump of his arm with a casual look on his face, not even flinching or wincing at the pain from such a blow. Instead he turned his glare back to Jeremy with a cold gleam in his eye as he stepped forward to pick up his severed arm off the ground as if it was a coin that he had dropped.

Jeremey then realized that there was something else that was off: Where was the blood? Despite severing an arm, There hadn't even been a drop of blood that hit the ground. He then watched in horror as Adam placed the severed arm against his stump and within seconds, flesh around the cutline was bubbling.

Not even a minute later, Adam was flexing his hand, as if to test whether it still worked properly after being reconnected.

Jeremy stumbled backward, his mind racing to comprehend what he had just witnessed. He had expected agony, screams, and perhaps even death. Instead, Adam stood before him whole, unharmed, and entirely unbothered. His expression carried the cold, calculated patience of someone who had long since accepted the impossible as ordinary.

Arachne's gaze remained fixed on Adam, her eyes narrowing slightly. She did not intervene, yet her presence radiated a quiet, unyielding approval of what he had just demonstrated. This was undoubtedly her own child, the product of a mind unrestrained by ordinary limits.

Jeremy's legs shook as he forced words past the lump in his throat. "How… How is that possible?"

Adam had a sneer on his face as he snarled back "It's possible because I am your half brother: A monster in human skin. Now grit your teeth you fucking bastard!"

Jeremy wanted to say something but he failed to do so when Adam's fist smashed against his temple and his vision went black.
