Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Chapter 35
What was wrong with that girl? Who did she think she was? Why did she deem herself so high that no one could talk to her? Could she not realize what she was about to do? Could she not realize how much her actions would affect others?
After Walden left, Valledor could no longer suppress the urge to go in there and talk some sense into that girl. He did not care anymore what Luther or Damian might do to him if he tried to hurt her. He just didn't care about anything anymore.
He pushed the doors with his shoulder, making them swing open and hit the wall with so much force. Then he stormed inside to confront her. "Miranda! What is wrong with you?! Why do you derive so much pleasure in making things difficult for others?! What kind of Queen do you intend to become?!"
Despite the angry shouts of Valledor, Miranda was not moved. He didn't scare her at all. She remained seated, watching him. When he was done lashing out at her, she gave him her calm reply.
"The best, Valledor. I intend to become the best Queen this pack has ever had! Like I said before, all my decisions have always been for the greater good of the Lotus Pack and I will carry on with this marriage."
"You're making a mistake, Princess! Perhaps you're not aware of the calamity you're about to bring upon."
"The only mistake I would have made would have been getting married to Walden, and I must admit it's a really smart move you played there― calling him to come here and all. Such a shame that both of you have only wasted your time."
"Do not speak to me like that, you spoiled brat!" Valledor screamed in fury. "You might have the protection of your father and Damian, but let me remind you that I'm still your superior! You carry your head high because you have their support! If it weren't for them, I would have given you the beating of your life right now! You're nothing without them, Princess. You're just a weak little piece of shit who can't even stand up for herself without―"
"You're very much mistaken if you think that of me, Valledor. Indeed, you don't know me at all. I have powers and I'm very capable of much more than you can think of."
"You're capable of nothing! And you have no strength of your own apart from the one your father supports you with!"
Miranda got up from her chair and walked closer towards him, facing him squarely before responding, "I didn't want to tell you this before, Valledor, but now it seems as if you really want to find out what kind of damage I'm capable of without help from my father."
"What are you talking about?" He asked with a sneer.
"Do you remember Tobias, your precious son who died three years ago?"
Valledor closed his eyes as if to shut away the pain. He hated to think of his dead son – the only child he ever had, and now this stupid girl had made him relive the story in his mind.
A few years ago, Tobias had died from trauma and depression due to him being bullied by an anonymous wolf. Tobias neither dared to speak of the bully nor reveal his identity because he was scared. That single experience drowned him further into sadness, and at the end of it all, Tobias couldn't take it anymore. He finally committed suicide.
Valledor had tried all he could to save his son, but lack of closeness between the two restrained Tobias from ever confiding in his father. It was the worst day of his life, watching as his son's body was cremated, never to see his face again. Valledor swore that day that he would find whoever this bully was and make him pay, but years later, he still hadn't been successful since he was fully focused on overthrowing the Lotus Pack's leadership.
Seeing the look on his face, Miranda grinned widely, but her next words snapped him back to the present. "It's good to see that you remember. Of course no parent would ever forget that. No matter the amount of wickedness that lives in his heart, a father will always remain a father."
Valledor began to mellow down. The reopening of the wounds of the past had brought about a sudden weakness in his body.
"Why are you telling me this, Miranda? Are you not satisfied with the damage you've caused already? Why do you have to bring my son into this? Why do you have to remind me of the pain I felt years ago?"
"I'm sorry, but you called me weak just now. I never mentioned Tobias to hurt you. I just wanted you to know how much damage a weak person is capable of."
He shot her a questioning glance. "What did you do, Miranda?"
"I am the anonymous wolf. I was the one who beat Tobiasas to pulp that day. Only one day was enough for me. His depression didn't come as a result of being bullied, instead it came because of his egotistical nature. The poor wolf would have never believed in all his life that he'd be defeated by a girl."
"You monster! You killed him! You're nothing but a witch! You―"
"I'm not done, Valledor. And let me just reveal to you who your son really was. I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Your son was the bully. He was a terrible person. When you and my father went on patrols, he had a daily routine of raping and beating up the younger women of this pack. He was even a much worse person than you were. But I'll admit that he was strong, that was why the other males could do nothing but watch as he raped their wives and girlfriends, and no one would dare to speak up against a Beta's son because of course Tobias would eventually deny everything if he was ever reported, so his crimes were kept hidden for many years."
Valledor began to yell again. "So you killed him! You thought that the best solution was to shed blood... Oh, I never knew you were so evil, Miranda."
Miranda ignored him and continued the tale. "The day came when I knew that I had to teach him a lesson. I'd just unlocked a new power then and he was the perfect lab rat for me to test it on; the same lab rat that was about to rape me since he wasn't satisfied with the many lives he'd ruined. At the end, he got more than what he bargained for. Since that day, he always feared me, and he never dared to open his mouth to lie against an Alpha's daughter, because of course I would have denied everything if I was ever reported. You might see me as weak because I hardly retaliate, but you have no idea what I'm capable of, Valledor. Unfortunately, your son knew how dangerous I was and he took that knowledge to his early grave."
Valledor lifted his hand to land a slap on Miranda's face, but she caught his hand in mid-air and threw it back at him with unexpected force, still facing him squarely like a badass. He was shocked by her speed. The girl was certainly not as weak as he'd thought.
"All your plans have failed, Valledor, so you might as well stop wasting your time. I'll marry Damian today, whether you like it or not."
As she walked off, leaving him alone in the meeting room, Valledor felt nothing but fear for her and a sense of hopelessness. All his plans and efforts had failed!
