Chapter 62: Chapter 62
“Sister!” A child ran up to me just after we got out of the car. The chickens and people were noisy. The sun king peeked out. The child hugged me, and then the others followed.
We rested last night on the side road because it was already night. We spent a few hours and Adonis regained sleep first because we might get into an accident if he gets drowsy. After he finally took a nap, we left immediately. I just didn’t understand what he said about pregnancy. As I held my stomach, I wondered what it would be like if I was pregnant. Am I ready to accept the child if the murderer's blood is on him?
When I looked up at Adonis, I observed he was puzzled. When he speaks to others, he appears to know and familiar with them. The other kids hugged him as well. They are also laughing. This time, my gaze is riveted on the view of the school and the center. When I saw that, my worry was lifted. It's good, and they're working on it even without my help.
I looked down at the child, and I'm uncertain if it was simply because she was stunning, but I was taken aback by her lengthy eyelashes. The other kids fled to Adonis and abandoned me. The last one remaining was a young, curly-haired woman. I squatted in front of her and watched her. I kissed her two cheeks and stroked her hair.
“Hi!” I looked at her and smiled. My eyes glow as I look at her. “What's your name?”
She hugged my leg again and giggled. I looked at Adonis, who was coming back to me now.
He scooped up the child, and they turned to face me. I straightened up when the woman perched on his arm and clutched his neck as if Adonis is her parent. A loving hand suddenly massaged my heart. What if what is he expecting is true? I can't believe I'm dreaming right now about Adonis carrying a child, and that child is our future baby. A couple approached me while I was daydreaming. Adonis also cast his glance in that direction.
“Earth!” the lady said, raising her hand as if to declare the child should plummet into Adonis' arms, but the girl grabbed Adonis' neck even tighter. Her father must have scraped the back of his skull. Even though she was struggling, her father took her.
She shouted and cried because she didn't want to let go of Adonis, so to calm her down I hung on Adonis' arm. I rubbed my stomach, then I spoke.
“We have a baby too. It's still in my stomach, so you can't see it yet. But if you want, we can stay here, why don't you just visit when you want, hmm?” I wrapped my warm palm around my stomach, and my already cold gut felt warm and light.
The child stopped crying, and her mother wiped the tears from the child's eyes. I just watched them and thought — I want to have children like that too. I also want to wipe away my son’s tears every time he cries. Not only that, but I also want to pick him up when we leave, or maybe we'll take him outside after he plays. I stand up straight when there was a warm arm wrapped around my waist. I bit my lip because that's when he suddenly whispered to me.
“How nice it would be to have children with you.”
I don’t know if the couple heard that because they were busy calming their daughter, so all I did was play with my fingers. I want to answer him with; “Yeah …. How nice it would be if I don't hate you.”
"Tsk,” I mumbled as I pulled him away, and the redness on my cheek enveloped me. I had a feeling he could see it. The pair turned back to us as I pushed him. While the man was still carrying the child, they both bowed.
“I sincerely apologize for what my daughter did. Thank you so much for your patience with her,” said the woman, while the man simply nodded.
I wave my hand responding to their apologies. “Don't worry about it because I like talking to her, and she doesn't bother me. If she so wishes… “I pointed to the old cabin where I used to sleep. “This is my place and this is where she will always see me.”
When Adonis lowered my hand and turned to face the couple who were listening carefully to the two of us, I was taken aback. “We'll stay on the shore beyond the tall grass. It's obvious since it's the only cabin there.” He grabbed my wrist to keep me from pointing at the cabin.
The pair said their final farewells. I rolled my eyes at Adonis, who led us to our sleeping quarters. Who informed him that I wanted to sleep next to him? I was going to walk back to the cabin where I used to sleep when he grabbed me and raised me like a bride. What he did astound me. I want to fight, yet others might assume I'm playing a role. I pushed my face into his chest, so he couldn't see my face. He enjoys doing the unexpected.
I struggled when no one was around. “Give me a break! Who am I to sleep in this place? I liked the cabin I used to stay in previously!” I was pushing his face away from me just to get him away from me. Likewise, I lose myself and forget my decisions when I smell his hot breath.
“You can only sleep in the cabin I built for you” That was already taken care of by Mark. Instead of living in that filthy room, that appear to be giving up because of bed's feet due to the incessant squeaking.” He explained himself to what I said. He hadn't even persuaded me yet, but he persisted. “Don't worry, we won't have sex.”
I was stunned by what was said. My mouth remained open. Does he think that I asked him here, so we can have time for each other? In his dreams!
“The thickness of your face!” That was the last thing I told him before I felt his lips touch mine.
